Thread for discussion of Ethereum Classic trading and price speculation.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Fundonomy needs more testers (ETC) on: October 05, 2016, 10:09:00 PM
Fundonomy - a solution to making decentralized funding available and accessible to everyone is now live on testnet.

Anyone who wants to help with testing PM @avtarsehra or @proide on ETC slack invite https://ethereumclassic.herokuapp.com

General information about the project http://www.slideshare.net/arcatomia/fundonomy-overview-and-roadmap

"We will need more testers to ensure we can determine impact on our servers and identify issues. Here are some notes to answer your questions and help you become a tester:

We do not accept payments through a browser wallet and do not hold keys. We want to stay out of managing “client keys” and or risk people losing money by their browser wallets being compromised. We have plans to do this for phase 2 (cyclops) but need more security analysis for that.  As such we will make it clear on the project page that once you click contribute you need to send etc via your client.

The solution is now on the Testnet, so when you send ether you need to do so on the testnet not the public chain."

What are your thoughts on this? When you trade Bitcoin with someone you might be getting tainted coins that put you in danger.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Monero most likely coin to challenge Bitcoin on: September 12, 2016, 12:22:56 PM
The Monero market cap is too small to accommodate the dark markets like Bitcoin in the earlier days. This works out one way and we have precedent.

The increase of market cap in Monero will cause the fundamentals to be utilized in a much larger way. It will absorb a larger DNM market share and create a stronger demand for the currency and make it easier to park or move larger and larger sums of money in the coin.

It is quite funny that nerds and criminals are the first ones to utilize new technology with merit since the two are so unlike another.

Monero will enter mainstream in the way Bitcoin did like early stages of shady markets and volatility to grow to a point where an economy has been successfully established and ordinary businesses accept it and daring economists speculate on whether or not it is a good investment.

The difference here is due to Monero fundamentals transactions will be as confidential as fiat ones with the one exception that you don't need to trust your bank with your information. Nobody will have it and it is how Bitcoin were supposed to be.

"The problem with Bitcoin for the masses is that very few will want to have their 'bank statements' broadcast publicly. Monero is the answer."

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How Ethereum Classic dapps will put Ethereum dapps out of business on: August 03, 2016, 06:25:56 AM
Parity is inevitable at some point since ETH and ETC are the same with one distinction which makes one better than the other depending on who you ask but fact remains we've essentially had a 'stock split' and the market will catch up at some point. The ETC market has been created by ETH holders who've sold their hedge.

ETC can and will fork any ETH developments this includes any useful DAPPS made on the ETH platform. The difference is that DAPPS on the ETH platform will do their ITOs to fund development and the forked DAPPS on the ETC platform will do their ITOs to fund a salesforce.

So at the stage your average ETH DAPP finishes development ETC has a much higher probability of reaping all the benefits due to being able to raise capital on the ETC platform and avoid spending it on a development process.

Sounds really weird it is fair game as long as it is open source which most projects in ETH is.
8  Bitcoin / Legal / Bitfinex legal obligations to users on: August 03, 2016, 12:44:53 AM
I'm looking for answers here by someone in the know about bankruptcy laws. Bitfinex has lost 120,000 BTC but not their ETH ETC and LTC USD etc. Let's assume they are insolvent which to me seems probable.

Does this mean they have to liquidate all their assets to cover their entire customers equally? So sell off all their alts and then spread the BTC or USD across their customers.

To not make this complex we should replace cryptocurrency with currency i.e look at exchanges in USD EUR and other assets where there is precedent.

This is paramount to trading in the markets right now. Appreciate any help.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How Ethereum Classic will exceed Ethereum in market cap. on: August 01, 2016, 02:23:41 PM
Here's the route in which ETC will surpass ETH if it does:

It's like a positive feedback loop. It could bring down ETH and replace it with ETC.

So you're the average ETH holder for the technology. You want to use or see the use of smart contracts in the future or whatever. Now ETH moves sideways, but ETC keeps increasing in both hash and market cap everyday. Now you get nervous over holding ETH even if it is moving sideways since ETC is growing rapidly and you can tell it is getting more attention than ETH. The logical thing to do is to sell your ETH and buy ETC at some benchmark you've set for yourself. I bought it right away out of ideological reasons. Others might have a certain price or like a % out of ETH cap, and so fourth... but the thing is that ETC might actually take down ETH based on this argument I lay out for you all.

Because as time progresses and ETC price increases more and more will sell their ETH in favor for ETC causing ETC to appreciate in price even more. The thing is that ETH doesn't necessarily need to go up or down for ETC to succeed but it seems likely it could go down some in the future should this scenario play out which I think it will.

And if the market cap and userbase of ETC exceed ETH at some point then every developer and business will begin to focus on ETC instead.. that's just business. So the argument about dapps is not really a concern of mine.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Ethereum community reveals their true colors in ETH vs ETC on: August 01, 2016, 01:22:46 PM
These past few days I've seen some stuff in /r/ethereum. Most people agreed to the fork for 'noble' reasons but now it is becoming apparent it was only to get their investment back and I will tell you why. Since they have proposed a 51% attack on ETC, filing trademark claims and other forms of hacking with the motivation that "code allows it" or whatever. Today one of the top posts is that ETH foundation should dump all their ETC.

So you know these people have become just as criminal as the hacker which is really surprising considering they all used to be pretty "above and smarter than everyone else" that they would never resort to these tactics. Funny how that works.. first HF to save their ETH investment but disguised as noble then try to use all these things ETH would HF out of on ETC to try to ruin a lot of people's ETC investment.

Doesn't this seem like the biggest hypocritical turn of events in the history of crypto?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Who wants to holder ETH over ETC now? on: July 26, 2016, 11:18:38 AM
This is HF experiment and IMHO ETC is a better blockchain and thus should be valued higher than ETH since ETH blockchain is now many things a crypto is not. Time will show that people reject HFs to bailout gullible investors.

So who holds ETH over ETC and why? Why should ETH have more long term value than ETC? When ETC is immutable and ETH is not.
