102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / % Daily change? on: June 08, 2011, 02:08:15 PM
Why is it that with all the great charting services we have, not one of them publishes a % daily change in the bitcoin price?

just that simple info alone would help drive the price!
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Contest on: June 05, 2011, 05:07:53 AM
i can't resist.  who BOUGHT BTC at the lowest price?  list your best trade below and we'll try to keep a running minimum value for each post.  sellers can speak up too by indicating the lowest sell they ever made since its just the other side of the same trade.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 10000 BTC for a pizza? on: June 05, 2011, 12:30:43 AM
i claim Urban Myth.  even at $.01/BTC that equals $100 for that pizza.  who would pay this?  was BTC ever that cheap?  if its true, have that man step forward.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin: The Currency of Integrity, Honesty, and Of The People on: June 02, 2011, 03:28:31 PM
Never mind the incessant articles and talk about BTC usage for drugs, money laundering, assasinations, porn etc that emanate from the BVDV, mainstream press, gov'ts, doubters and quite frankly from our own ranks here at the Forum.  Scrap that talk and lets spread whats really behind the BTC revolution.  And that is honest money that can't be counterfeited by a private, special interest group called the Banksters and their governmental brethren to their own benefit.  A money that cannot be inflated OR deflated.  A stable valued currency that will create a non volatile business equilibrium upon which we can build a Real Economy.  An economy where businesses large and small don't have to worry about whipsaw swings in the value of their money as a first and primary concern versus concentrating on what's important, developing a productive business.  An economy built on a currency that will prevent financial speculators from creating Boom/Bust cycles and capitalizing on that volatility with inside information.  Bitcoin is The People's Money and it was created b/c we are tired of waiting for Ben Bernanke, Tim Geithner, and Obama to do the right thing.  We have come to the realization that it is time for us to take matters into our own hands.  THIS is the result.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Why can't we copy addresses from client? on: May 25, 2011, 01:07:20 PM

107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / LOTS of connection problems for everyone! on: May 25, 2011, 12:59:37 PM
ever since the new client versions came out, LOTS of ppl r having connection issues and r resorting to all sorts of fixes, work arounds like fallback nodes, creating .conf files, rescanning. deleting and redownloading block chains.  i can't even get my new Win client to open up after doing a backup and deleting the original walllet in the data directory.  can someone in charge around here address NOW?  its not confidence inspiring and its a real pain in the rear!
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hidden Resiliency of Network on: May 17, 2011, 01:26:08 PM
there have been no shortages of theories of how an adversary to btc could attack the network.  most revolve around taking over 50% of the network to destroy the validity of the block chain.  i was thinking how i as an individual have stopped mining long ago b/c of my reduced ability to compete in generating coins with the pooled miners.  however, i do have 3 rather new and speedy CPU computers that can generate a not too insignificant hash rate but are off the btc network.  i also have developed a significant financial interest in btc and stock, not to mention a philosophical love of the concept.  if an attack by an outsider were to occur i for one would have no problem turning on my 3 computers to add to the resiliency of the network.  i'm wondering if anyone has worked out any models trying to estimate what the hidden resiliency of network from others like me might be?  i'm willing to bet that well over 60% of btc users might be in my category.  in fact, one of the administrators should try to outline a plan to mobilize as many btc users with dormant clients in event of an attack like this.  the way i see it, this could be a good way to snuff out and severely damage an adversary.
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Another 0/unconfirmed x 7 days on: May 16, 2011, 04:49:53 PM
i need your help.  could you look at this block: http://blockexplorer.com/address/1JkgETnQJQ6PXhTCQYpi3aqPiSHMggbvfN

this is a withdrawal of 258.20 btc from my mtgox acct that is received but greyed out and 0/unconfirmed in my client.  the date and time received in my client is 5/9/11 20:02 and the time of the withdrawal in my acct history at mtgox is 5/10/11 03:02.

i've been back and forth about this with Mark Karpeles who says the tx on his end looks fine.  Theymos has graciously tried to help me but recommended i bring this problem to you all.  also Theymos looked at the block and says theres 1257 confirmations.  he thinks there is a problem with btc somewhere.

i deleted old client and downloaded new version 0.3.21.2, reloaded new block chain which is up to date with active connections.  obviously data directory is new as well.  but still no fix.

i'm using a MacBook Pro and the client version is 0.3.20.1 Beta.  Currently showing 124382 blocks with 3 connections.

113  Economy / Marketplace / MtGox withdrawal issues on: April 25, 2011, 06:16:46 PM
why would my receiving BTC addresses from my client be getting an "invalid bitcoin address" error over at MtGox for under $1K?  BTC client is actively generating BTC's so i know its connected to the network.  owners of MtGox aren't responding via email.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How do we prevent money laundering and assasinations? on: April 24, 2011, 04:12:30 AM
as a non hacker investor in BTC, i am tired of hearing laughing and joking about how drug dealers and gangs will most definitely use BTC to move money around the world to facilitate their illegal activities.  Hive 45 had 2 jokers laughing and joking about using BTC for assasinations.  i'm sorry, civilized ppl just don't talk like that.  if this becomes the case, BTC may be doomed in the long run to function as a new currency to replace the USD which is what i presume most of the ppl on this forum want.  i know i sure do and now i have an invested interest in making this so.  i would like to use this thread to develop ideas about how this activity might be prevented.  i don't want to hear comments about how it is inevitable, can't stop it, its gonna happen no matter what type comments that are often accompanied by a veneer of glee.  this is serious business; so i'd like to hear productive ideas about how this can be accomplished.  if everyone believes its impossible then fine, i get an empty thread.
