22  Other / Off-topic / TrueCrypt Hardware RNG on: July 26, 2011, 05:23:04 AM
Is there such a thing? A hardware random number generator that can be used with truecrypt, or a way to import raw random data.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin 0.3.24 Portable on: July 24, 2011, 04:33:13 PM
I packaged bitcoin inside thinapp, that is all
simply run the .exe and bitcoin will run inside a portable isolated container, all the wallet files and such will be generated inside .\Bitcoin-0.3.24\%AppData%\Bitcoin

You could also try to drop in the blockchain from your already installed client if you want, but i have not tried it yet.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9866930/Bitcoin-0.3.24-Portable.7z
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9866930/Bitcoin-0.3.24-Archive.7z

I also included the build version, you must have thinapp installed for it to build. so it is only useful for people that do have thinapp. if there is a lot of interest in this, i can also build portable firefoxes with the latest flash/java/silverlight inside the package.

Some more info, if you are having weird issues with the client installed on your system, you could try this because it operates inside the package and does not try to interface with any other files on your system.

If you want a custom bitcoin build with a wallet file integrated directly in the package file, i can do it for 0.05

25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / is it common on: July 20, 2011, 08:22:55 AM

edit: also peers are connecting to me on ports other than 8333?
26  Other / Off-topic / Drafting a new way of governing on: July 20, 2011, 04:35:53 AM
What i propose is publicly drafting a new "constitution" or way of governing people. anyone can suggest anything, and if enough people agree on it, it gets added. the purpose for this is mostly entertainment, but who knows, we might need it one day, so why not have it ready.

The propositions i make will mostly be from the already existing constitution. however I think it may be best to have 2 different documents. One for a type of government we have now, and one for if government splits up into really small micro nations the size of cities. For now I think only 1 is needed until it gets more mature.

Citizens that accept this document as a way of life are granted

The right to say, print or produce media as they wish, granted it does not exist in the freedom blacklist.
The right to own a weapon in the weapon white list.(most guns would be allowed, mostly the exceptions are automatics and weapons of mass destruction as citizens have no need or reason for own such devices, white listed to be sure that new types of weapons will automatically we against the law.)
The right to decline housing to any entity for any reason.
The right to decline any entity from entering your person or property for any reason, with the exception of a warrant.
The right to not incriminate your person. You may never be forced to say or perform any act that will convict you of a crime, with exception in the incrimination white list.
The right to never be classified by race, religion or gender by the government for purposes of money or public property.
The right to a fair and speedy trial by jury.
The right to fair bail for crimes.
Rights not granted by the document, but not explicitly declined, are granted to the citizens.
No government entity is allowed to create currency, with no exception.

Black lists

White lists

If you have something to add just post it, if you agree with something quote it. if you would like to modify something just quote it and change it how you see fit

Good ideas

Code:
No government entity is allowed to create currency, with no exception.
The right for the individual to knowingly consume any substance that individual sees fit.(GenXdark)

when enough people agree on something i will put in it in this code box. this will never mean that it is final, just that many people have agreed on it.

Code:
Doc here

All text and information here is public domain, you may not even get to call yourself an author of anything, i include myself in this.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / is it possible to use bitcoin gui for rpc on: July 18, 2011, 07:09:39 PM

28  Economy / Trading Discussion / "face to face" vs automatic payment acceptance on: July 18, 2011, 06:34:16 PM
To the people that buy stuff with their BC, do you prefer to talk directly to the seller via chat software or do you prefer just dumping your coins in a wallet with no contact?

To the sellers, do you prefer talking to your customers personally? or just take the BC and send the product?
29  Economy / Goods / selling celestial bodies on: July 12, 2011, 06:56:11 AM
that's right, i'm selling parts of the moon and stars and planets only 0.005 for a star/planet or half a mile of moon.

what you get when you buy these "things" granted me and you arrive at said purchased body at the same time, and ownership of said body will be split, you get all ownership instead. so if you buy mars, and me and you happen to get there at the same time, you would get it and not me, i just hope you let me stay there a little bit and don't eject me in to the vacuum of space :3

With that said, you would want to buy mars or Venus or the moon over a star, since they are harder to get to.

so send 0.005 to 1PDdktv6KgKUnBsfn97VUm7SnXqX8Nm4AA and pm me the celestial body you want. and ill note it here.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / building bitcoin and pulls on: July 04, 2011, 11:34:23 AM
I want to build bitcoin from source and include a pull from git, i got ubuntu installed and git installed, but after that i'm lost lol.

I have never user ubuntu or linux in general before, i am however good in using the command prompt in windows, but not osx.

i got the terminal open in ubuntu and did "sudo apt-get install git" and i got git installed not even knowing what sudo or apt-get is.

then i tried "git https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.git" and git git://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.git" and even "git checkout git://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.git"

i am soo noobish at this i will probably need instruction on how to build with the pull too. id like to compile for both windows and linux, if you can even do that.

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/220

any help with be very much appreciated.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / how are blocks made and irc on: July 04, 2011, 12:33:33 AM
I understand what the block chain is, and how transactions are made.

but what is "hashing" exactly and who decides what hash is correct and gets to make the block and put it in the chain. who decides the difficultly and how are blocks made more "difficult" to generate. I understand this process takes place every x number of blocks generated, but how is it carried out.

and another question is, what exactly does the irc server do, isn't this a central point of failure depending on what it does?

Will the client accept blocks that do not include transaction fees, where it would normally force the user to include one.

sorry, i searched the wiki and found no answer to these questions without too much technical mumbo jumbo. thanks.  Smiley
32  Economy / Goods / Steam and TF2 goods (Humble Inde Bundle) on: July 03, 2011, 10:46:28 PM
Times i am active (mon-thur) and week ends, pretty much all day
02:30PM-10:00PM

I am selling selling steam games and tf2 stuff, request something and i may have it, as long as it is not limited edition.

Most of the games listed were not bought, they were given to me by valve, so to my knowledge they can not be taken away due to stolen credit claims, although I can not be 100% sure. I would also like to think that I can be considered trusted after making 10+ trades, but I am still a noob so take it with caution.

Private message me or post here.

You always go first and wait for 2 confirmations.

33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / is pgp compatible with gpg on: June 21, 2011, 08:45:05 PM
Is it, everyone seems to use gpg around here, but i use windows so the only options are the windows ui version of gpg that crashes or pgp. I would rather use pgp if it will be compatible with gpg.
34  Economy / Trading Discussion / WASTE again, again on: June 13, 2011, 10:29:17 AM
A few months ago I made a topic on WASTE again, it never really took off and was forgotten about.

This time I am going to do things a bit different. First off I will use dyndns too keep the ip current and supply a little tutorial.

Hopefully waste will then be rebooted, because I think its about time we had a good, private, decentralized, p2p program.

You can find WASTE again at source forge or use this magnet link I made.

http://wasteagain.sourceforge.net/

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:O7UU23PB6HKQMSG7VV445VZU2EWA6T3J&dn=WASTE.1.7.4.build_442_nightly.zip&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.openbittorrent.com%3a80

Setup

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9631VGvlAtQ

once you have waste again extracted into a folder, open it and follow the instructions

the main points are this

You must import the public keys of other users in the preferences menu. when you click add, just paste the key into the box in the bottom left of the window and click "Load key text".

You must also wait for the other person to import your key as well. just click copy key to clipboard in the preferences and give it to the person you wish to connect to.

you both must have each others public keys.

Feel free to post your keys or questions. And if you care to, I can add your ip to this post to increase the redundancy of the "network".
35  Economy / Marketplace / Ƀ excel calculator on: June 12, 2011, 09:44:50 AM
I made a simple Ƀ calculator, mostly for Ƀ to $ calculations, you can do any currency, but you need to know the conversion rate, either to and from $ or Ƀ.

If you would like some other useful calculations to be included, please suggest it.
Right now it can figure 2 things, Ƀ to $ and $ to Ƀ.

This requires Microsoft Excel 2007 or higher, you can also upload it to Google Docs or use OpenOffice or use Office Web Apps

Google version, although this can be edited by anyone, so please don't edit it.

37  Other / Off-topic / Networking Questions on: May 11, 2011, 09:53:08 PM
I have a bunch of questions about general networking, if you guys could answer some it would be very much appreciated. Most of it is about decentralized networking.

1. How viable is a world wide wireless mesh network (obviously you still need a cable to go to and from other continents.)
how much throughput and what would the ping be like talking to nodes across countries like the US. How well does it scale, and overall how viable is it, and how much would it cost.. what are the disadvantages.

2. How expensive is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-space_optical_communication . Would it be good for #1 and the wireless be a backup so to say when conditions are not good for FSO.

3. Would you rather pay anonymously for a mesh network like this or continue paying your current provider.

4. You and your neighbors have to chip in some money to buy good equipment for your street/block/complex/flats. How would setting up a cable across long expanses of land work?

5. How easy would it be to exploit these types of networks.

Thanks for any answers.
38  Economy / Trading Discussion / WASTE on: May 05, 2011, 05:08:42 AM
I found this neat little program called "WASTE" while looking for a decentralized p2p chat program. It supports encryption and you don't need to worry about any 3rd party logging any information. This is very useful if you require being anonymous. This has been abandoned for like 3 years now but it still works great.
you can find it at http://wasteagain.sourceforge.net/

Try it out by putting this IP in the network status window, 75.130.209.187
you may need to forward port 1337 for it to work.

And please post if there are any known flaws or something with it.
