1  Other / Politics & Society / Bank backed Hong Kong Police oppression - live streams. on: June 09, 2020, 03:33:52 PM
Hello all.  Following on from my other thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5253933.msg54577574#msg54577574

I thought it would be of interest to my fellow freedom loving Bitcoiners if I posted a live streaming link of the brutal, HSBC & Standard Chartered backed police crackdown of peaceful pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, filmed by HongKongers themselves - click on the link below:

https://ncehk2019.github.io/nce-live/

You can change the number of streams by clicking on the menu bar in the bottom centre of the screen to suit your screen size.

This is what communism looks like with bank backing.

2  Economy / Economics / How corrupt is your Bank? - Violation Tracker. on: June 07, 2020, 02:23:34 PM
Have you ever wondered if your bank is legit? Do they follow a code of conduct or a code of criminality?

I stumbled upon a great site that provides info on criminal charges & fines imposed on all banks, businesses & corporate entities since 2000 in an effort to promote accountability & transparency - it's interesting to say the least.

For example, I was disturbed to hear that HSBC & Standard Chartered had publicly endorsed the Chinese Communist Party's violent crackdown of Hong Kongs democratic rights of it's people & had seen reports on various social media platforms about HSBC's involvement in money laundering for Mexican drug cartels, so decided to verify if it was true or not - that's when I came upon this site:

https://www.goodjobsfirst.org/violation-tracker

Sure enough, a lookup of HSBC showed that laundering drug money was just the tip of the iceberg & that since the year 2000 they had been convicted for multiple crimes with fines totalling over $6,488,012,407!!:

https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/prog.php?parent=hsbc

So, not only are HSBC supporting oppression of HongKongers & backing the Communist Party of China - but they have also been convicted of money laundering for drug cartels, fraud, mortgage abuses, banking violations, toxic securities abuses, government-contracting-related offenses, consumer-protection-related offenses, employment-related offenses, competition-related offenses & financial offenses. Quite a record. Bear in mind that this is just in the US - I'd love to find a similar site that scrapes info from the EU too.

So, have a go with your bank - see what they've been keeping quiet about - punch in your bank's name & see if they're all they claim to be. Post your results here if you like - but HSBC will take some beating I think!

3  Other / Serious discussion / WARNING! PIA (PrivateInternetAccess) just sold out it's customers. on: November 23, 2019, 07:51:05 PM
Hello everyone,

Posting this here as there doesn't seem to be a thread for privacy/security - if Mods feel it should be in a different section then please feel free to move it there.

It came to my attention today that PIA VPN have sold out to Kape Technologies, who are (in)famous for adding malware/adware/spyware to their software as well as selling user data to third parties. I myself am/was a user of PIA for several years but as of today am no longer - I have cancelled my subscription along with many thousands of other concerned customers. Please have a read through some of the links below for details:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PrivateInternetAccess/comments/dz2w53/our_merger_with_kape_technologies_addressing_your/

https://www.reddit.com/r/privacytoolsIO/comments/e0iw2g/privateinternetaccess_a_privacyfocused_vpn/

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21584958

https://www.reddit.com/r/security/comments/e0fb2t/so_long_pia/

https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/e0iye9/privateinternetaccess_a_privacyfocused_vpn/

https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/e0hds6/privateinternetaccess_a_privacyfocused_vpn/

These are just a few that I've scraped, there are many, many more - but all come to the same conclusion - PIA can no longer be trusted with user data, privacy or security. On a side note, a certain Mark Karpeles also gets a mention in some of the articles as he was CTO at some point also - pretty much sums the whole thing up eh?

Shame. I liked PIA.

Anyone who uses PIA would be wise to cancel their subscription & move to another, more safer VPN immediately!!
4  Other / Meta / Ignore user option not loading. on: August 14, 2019, 05:21:14 PM
I'm trying to add various users to my ignore list, but every time I click on the button it fails to load - just wondering if anyone else having the same problem?

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [SYS] SYSCOIN [Unofficial] - Due to censorship & secrecy on Official thread. on: July 25, 2018, 11:05:24 PM
I'm saddened that I have to resort to opening this thread due to the continued censorship & refusal of Syscoin devs to answer any legitimate questions from their investors, but I feel it's important that all Syscoin users are aware of what is happening.

Syscoin devs/moderators have started deleting posts from even their longest serving investors (me included) simply for asking legitimate questions about the Marketing & direction Syscoin & Blockchain inc are headed - especially regarding the resent announcement that Syscoin are going into a "partnership" with a shady half baked outfit called peermountain who have no product whatsoever apart from a failed ICO, soon to be followed by another "token sale" for another worthless shitcoin (PMTN). In fact, the only thing they do have from what I can see, is an army of fake shill accounts posting on their various threads.

Below is the post that Syscoin devs decided they didn't want anyone to see:

Quote
As a long term supporter of Syscoin since the GPU mining days, a holder, an investor & a masternode operator - I believe I am entitled to ask a few simple question regarding my investments in Syscoin & the direction it is going in, as I'm sure all fellow Syscoin users are.  However, it seems OP doesn't appreciate it's long term users asking any such questions & has not only deleted my last post containing said questions, but has in fact deleted every single one of my posts on this thread & PM'd me requesting me to no longer post here. I wish to know why & the reasons for treating their long term investors in such a dispicable & over reactionary way.

This is a sad day. I never thought I would see this kind of censorship & secrecy in the Syscoin thread by devs - there is absolutely no reason or excuse for it.

Investors have every right to ask questions & those who are involved in this project are obligated to answer them as best they can, weather they like the questions or not. I am re-posting my questions in the interests of transparency for all to see & require an explanation as to why devs are taking such drastic actions against their long term supporters:

It's celebration time! The community marketing team releases the 10th weekly @Syscoin update to you, the community.

https://medium.com/@syscoincommunity/syscoin-community-weekly-update-10-fdccb4c6ef38

I'm not sure what to make of this at all tbh.

After visiting the peermountain website & doing some research, I can't see that they actually have a product - all I can find is yet another ICO, the pre-sale of which supposedly raised 505ETH from "private" investors with the next round being another "Token sale" of PMTN which also doesn't exist yet & no date set. There's a lot of conflicting info on their site compared to other sites where they advertise their ICO too, & the team members listed don't appear to have any type of online past before peermountain.....what is there to partner with exactly? Why would SYS want to even get involved with this...this....thing?

I don't do ICO's & never will, but if I did, I wouldn't touch the peermountain one.

Am I missing something?

Well, after doing some more research on various websites & reading through their threads on bitcointalk:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2626975.140  (ANN)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2642081.3960  (Bounty)

..I now know what to make of this peermountain "partnership".  Peermountain shows all the usual & typical signs of being yet another ICO scam for yet another shittoken:

Conflicting info.
Bounty hunters **facepalm**, many unpaid.
Zero transparency.
Many fake accounts shilling.
Many unanswered questions from gullibles investors.
No product.
No dates.
Delays & excuses on all fronts.
etc, etc.

As a long term SYS holder/investor/masternode operator I have to admit that I'm clueless as to why SYS would even consider a partnership with this outfit. It has nothing to offer SYS whatsoever. For what purpose? Why? I'm sure other SYS investors would appreciate some info too.

I'd be interested to hear from whoever it was at Syscoin who's idea it was to get involved with this peermountain outfit & what their reasons for doing so were & based on what, exactly - because all I can see is yet another scam ICO outfit by shady individuals pushing nothing but weak promises.

If Syscoin devs delete my questions again without explanation, I will have no option or hesitation in opening an Unofficial Syscoin thread. If my questions remain unanswered then it is obvious that this project is heading in a direction that every Syscoin user should be wary of & will result in a scam thread in an effort to find answers to my questions.

Do the right thing devs. Answer your investors questions & stop the censorship/gagging of legitimate questions.

Here is a copy of the PM I received from the Syscoin thread OP, together with my reply:

Hello,

We kindly request that you stop posting on the Syscoin thread, according to our thread rules, all of your posts will be deleted, please do not post anymore, this is your request to stop posting: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1466445

According to bitcointalk rules, you must stop posting on the requested thread when the OP requests it.

Are you kidding me?  You delete ALL my posts because I ask questions about a partnership with a company that has no product apart from a failed ICO??

Is this how you treat long term Syscoin investors/supporters/masternode operators? What rules have I broken exactly?

Explain yourself.

I know I'm not the only poster who has had their posts deleted on the Syscoin thread, so this Unofficial Syscoin thread will give others the opportunity to repost what devs have deleted. As they saw fit to delete all my posts, I will repost them here as & when I see fit & encourage others to do so also. I have invested quite heavily in Syscoin over the years, as have others, as I thought that they were legit, had a good idea with an excellent dev (sidhujag) - but recent events have given me grave concerns about the whole projects legitimacy, direction & associations.
I will now start doing some deeper research into the current situation in an effort to find answers to my questions that Syscoin don't want to answer or let others see & will post my findings here.

I have created this topic as self-moderated simply to stop spammers & shills. All legitimate posts are welcome & will not be deleted. This thread is not an attack on Syscoin, that would be self destructive as I am an investor, this is an effort at transparency & to find out why Syscoin are hiding something from it's investors by refusing to answer questions & deleting posts.

The exodus from Github continues. No surprise really, as in 2001, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer famously called Linux “a cancer” and expressed his distaste for open source projects. How the worm turns..... Roll Eyes

7  Economy / Exchanges / What's going on with Poloniex? on: April 19, 2018, 02:15:53 PM
Hello all,

Many weeks back I begrudgingly went through the Poloniex verification procedure & waited patiently.....& waited.....& waited, logging in now & again to check the progress, if any, but there was none.

Eventually I opened a ticket a few weeks ago to ask what the delay was & if there was any way to speed up the process - I got no reply.

When I logged on again a few days ago to check for any progress I was greeted with an "Unverified" message instead of the usual "Pending Review", with no explanation & still no reply to my support ticket.

So I guess my questions are:

WTF are they playing at?
Are they always so slow?
Do they normally ignore customer support tickets?
Am I the only one that has problems with them?

I wanted a reliable, legit exchange with good, responsive support - am I wasting my time with Polo?

Thanks.
