1  Economy / Service Discussion / Pay with Bitcoin on GoG on: November 07, 2015, 12:03:23 PM
Does anybody know a workaround to pay on GoG using Bitcoin?
2  Other / Meta / theymos has gone insane again on: November 05, 2015, 01:21:39 PM
Quote
BIP 101 is a proposal for modifying Bitcoin. Discussing it is allowed. Promoting the usage of BIP 101 before consensus exists is not allowed.
If Coinbase starts promoting XT to customers directly on coinbase.com, Coinbase will be banned.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3rejl9/coinbase_ceo_brian_armstrong_bip_101_is_the_best/cwo5okx

I don't know, if this ruling is also active on this forum. That would be really insane, since even known scammers don't get banned.
3  Other / Meta / You have reported 5 posts with 75% accuracy on: September 03, 2015, 02:01:35 PM
So, 3.75 of my reports are accurate?

I knew, the forum software is bad, but you would think, it gets at least basic math right Wink
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Grand [Bitcoin] Inquisitor on: September 03, 2015, 07:34:16 AM
With the whole blocksize debate, there is a lot of talk about what Bitcoin is supposed to be. There are often phrases used like "the vision of Bitcoin was" or even "Satoshi's vision was" followed by statements, that have nothing to do, with what Satoshi actually said.

That reminded me a lot of Fyodor Dostoevsky short story of "The Grand Inquisitor".

http://www.online-literature.com/dostoevsky/2884/

and maybe after you read that, you could read the Whitepaper or some of Satoshi's Forum Posts
5  Other / Meta / So, insults are okay? on: August 24, 2015, 04:03:29 PM
I reported two posts today, since coming back to the whole XT vs. Core discussion and seeing that hdbuck, resolved to mostly just insulting people, which he even admits to be his new "strategy", was no fun anymore

...
@hdbuck please stop being abusive, you are sinking below their level, you are much better contributing when you are not venting. won't mention it again.

i'll try i'll try, but i mean its hard, these people are professionnal shills/trolls, and they just wont let it be that easily. you just cant argue with them. they have their agenda of ruining bitcoin.

so i figured the only way to counter their lies is to insult them, so at least the few innocent people around dont fall for their bs.

and besides, my money, and hopes for a better world are on the line here too.

so rage is on.

So, what did the mods do? Nothing at all.

Does that means, that posts like

^fuck you noob/troll/shill.

are okay now? Or does that only apply if I am a XT-Basher?

(Awaiting which cry-meme icebreaker will choose this time)
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Full node and IPv6 on: August 19, 2015, 03:36:42 PM
I am trying to set up a full node on a raspberry pi.

Installation seems to have worked, the blockchain is synced, but it seems like I can't be reached.

I am using https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/ to see, if I can be reached, neither putting my IPv4 nor my IPv6 address in there gives the desired result.

I can't setup port forwarding on my router. The support-lady told me, that since it is using IPv6 it shouldn't be necessary in most cases(but she admitted to don't really know much about that).

Any suggestions?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Using a blockchain on a network-drive in Bitcoin Core on: August 19, 2015, 01:44:11 PM
Hi there,

so I am currently finally setting up my raspberry pi to be a full node.
I still want to use my client on my Windows 8-PC to send transactions.
I was wondering, if I just change the directory to the network drive, if there wouldn't be a conflict, when both clients(on raspberry pi and on windows 8 ) are trying to sync the blockchain.

Any suggestions?
8  Other / Meta / What is wrong with theymos and the other mods? on: August 17, 2015, 09:07:28 AM
I am not often on reddit, I don't even have an account there, but yesterday I spend some hours looking into the drama that happened/is still happening there.
Do you want to know, what other people are thinking about that? I got a mail from the LTB network(I hardly ever get mails from them, so it seems to  be an important topic from them) to look at this thread:
https://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/upcoming-bitcoin-hard-fork-r-bitcoin-censorship

So, I thought, maybe they have learned, but what do I see after I got here today: censorship again. Seems like the pro-XT-threads are moved to the altcoin-section and the anti-X-Threads are allowed to stay.
Seriously, nobody in his right mind, regardless of where he stands in this discussion, can think about these other than a big abuse of power.

So:
Theymos or any other mod: What is wrong with you? Who do you think you are? The new dictators of every Bitcoin discussion. Do you really think, that is what Satoshi wanted?
9  Bitcoin / Armory / ADWARE/Adware.Gen7 Armory on: July 20, 2015, 03:40:46 PM
My avira found ADWARE/Adware.Gen7 in guardian.exe of Armory.
It is an old installation, I haven't used in a while.
Has anybody heard of that. Wouldn't be the first false positive with Avira ...
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Tools to analyze the blockchain on: June 24, 2015, 02:47:15 PM
After the stress test, I like to make some analyzes about the transactions that occurred.
I didn't get very far, since I didn't find any proper tools.
So, I was wondering if there is a service to make analyzes that goes further than things, I can lookup at sites like blockchain.info.
There seems to be some tutorials on how to put blockchain-data into a database, so, I could try that(I am pretty good with sql), but first I'd like to check if there is another way.
Any suggestions?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Pi Hut(raspberry pi online shop) accepts Bitcoin on: June 22, 2015, 09:11:34 AM
So, yesterday I bought some equipment for my raspberry pi.
I normally use amazon via purse.io, but the product didn't have an European Power Supply, just the UK one. So, I went to the manufacture itself and there I could choose which Power Supply I want.
Looking at the payment options, I thought I have to reactivate my VISA-card(it got locked after I forgot my password and entered a false one multiple times).
When I got to the checkout, there suddenly was the option to pay with Bitcoin. It's not hard to guess, what I did next.

It gave me a warm feeling, that at least in the tech world, Bitcoin is becoming a widely accepted payment option.

Today I wrote them a mail, they should make it more obvious that they accept Bitcoin.

So, if you need anything for a raspberry pi, go there Wink
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin in Games on: March 28, 2015, 07:15:33 PM
Today I played Dreamfall Chapters. There I got Cryptocurrency, because people in The  Bricks prefer this kind of cash, that can not be traced like Credits(it plays in the future).
In Farcry 4 you can find cryptocurrency drives. It is just random loot you can sell.
Does anybody know other references?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / You can buy Bitcoin in Austria at nearly every corner on: February 06, 2015, 10:35:20 AM
http://cointelegraph.com/news/113424/austria-gets-600-merchants-selling-bitcoin-overnight

Finally, something happened in Austria, I can be proud of.
Do give some background. Trafiken are the only shop, where you can buy tobacco ware(of course there are also vending machines for that) and lottery scratch ticket. There are some really fucked up laws about that in Austria. So, in Austria there is always a Trafik near you, so you can feed your lung cancer, now that also goes for Bitcoin.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Memes about Bitcointalk quotes (self-moderated) on: February 04, 2015, 01:32:51 PM
Since my first try didn't work out as expected, I start here the next attempt.
I make simple rules and will delete every post, that doesn't apply to that rules(you can make memes about Bitcoin, which are negative, as long as they follow the rules)

1. Posts must have only the actual quote(using the quote function) and the meme itself(I'd like do make just a collection of memes and not a discussion, so, also not "that is funny"-posts)
2. The meme must have the quote as it's main point(so don't just quote something and than make an animation around it, that doesn't have anything to do with the quote)
3. The quote must have been serious(I know, that is sometimes hard to say, but some things are just obviously satiric and please don't make an alt just to quote him)

For people, who haven't made Memes yet, just use this:
http://memegenerator.net/

So, here is my first example

----------------------UNDER THIS LINE IS HOW IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE ---------------------------------------------

Gavin predicting 'chaos and drama' mentions Bitcoin in the same sentence with 'hightech startups that often fail'

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Memes about Bitcointalk quotes on: February 04, 2015, 12:27:15 PM
I am a little bit bored right now, so I decided to make a meme about one of this FUD/troll posts.

Making memes is pretty easy nowadays, I just use this:

in reference to this thread

I made this

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Bitcoin cash? on: February 03, 2015, 10:05:35 AM
I was wondering that, since a lot of people say, Bitcoin is like cash, so I looked it up on Wikipedia:

"In bookkeeping and finance, cash refers to current assets comprising currency or currency equivalents that can be accessed immediately or near-immediately (as in the case of money market accounts).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash

So, Bitcoin is definitly cash, per defintion.
So, please stop saying "Bitcoin is like cash" Wink
17  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / DKB Antrag abgelehnt on: January 28, 2015, 04:17:50 PM
Hi,

18  Economy / Speculation / The price of Bitcoin, if it succeeds on: January 17, 2015, 02:12:42 PM
There is a lot of talk about at what price BTC is supposed to be. This statements are mostly based on the past price of BTC.
E.g. "It can't be 1000 USD/BTC today since it was just 130 USD/BTC 2 years ago"
I think, that is a pretty bad way to look at it.
The best way, I can think of, is what has the price to be, when a certain amount of people use it. Imagine in 10 years 100 Million people worldwide are using Bitcoin in some way(I don't want to discuss, if that is a good estimate, since the title of the topic is "if it succeeds"). Looking at the current market cap of ~$ 3 billion, that is just not enough. That means that everybody can just use an equivalent of average 30 USD.
Any other suggestions on how to determine a good price?
19  Economy / Speculation / Is the recent price crash related to the Ross Ulbricht-trial? on: January 16, 2015, 10:16:23 AM
Just a theory with no actual backing, but I was wondering since I didn't see that conspiracy, yet. So I thought I make my own thread.
I can think of 2 scenarios:
Someone who was involved in Silk Road and made a shitload of Bitcoin, just got afraid, that with more attention to the trial, his stash of Bitcoin might also be found soon, so he cashed out.
An organization that wants to hurt Bitcoin(let your fantasy about who that is, go wild) and was planning on doing so, by slowly buying up Bitcoin to make a big dump(hihi) on the exchanges, thought, a few days before the trial would be a good point to execute it, maybe with some other upcoming events, that will hurt Bitcoin even more.
What do you guys think?
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / These are exciting times. on: January 14, 2015, 03:48:51 PM
I came into Bitcoin at the beginning of 2013.
Reading a lot on this forum, I always was jealous of all the people talking about how, they were in the first row, seeing previous crashes. Damn, I also wished, I would have seen that. the MtGox crash 2014 doesn't count in my opinion, since there was a big rise before the fall, and it ended at a higher price than it started.
I think, now is one of this cases, I can tell my grandchildren about or at least, the newbies in 1-2 years. "Saw that, been there, move along"
