Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CPU mining
on: January 01, 2014, 09:58:04 PM
I have a few Xeon PCs and I tried mining Memorycoin, Datacoin and Primecoin. Right now I'm getting the most from mining Primecoin. Anything else I should try? Is Primecoin the best option? I run jhprimeminer with the default parameters and without AVX Any tip how to optimize this process would be greatly appreciated
Thanks.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [Data Recovery Problem] Recovering many Wallet.dat from repartitioned Hard drive
on: July 17, 2013, 11:19:41 AM
1) I had a Linux system with many wallets ,bitcoin, litecoin, devcoin, etc. and due to immense stupidity forgot to backup the hidden dot.folders ( .litecoin , .namecoin ... ) - where the wallets are - upon reinstalling a new OS 2) After deleting the partition and just before starting installing a new OS I cancelled this so the disk is still empty - no files were written over it ... this is why I have hope 3) I tried this tool: http://www.btcnn.com/2011/09/recovering-lost-due-to-format-bitcoin.html - it did recover around 555 keys ... but it saves them all in one .dat - how can I ever import them unto many wallets? 4) I tried using PhotoRec to recover the .dat files using this : http://www.cyplo.net/2012/04/01/bitcoin-wallet-recovery-photorec/ - guide this looks better since it saves many .dat files ... but some are 180 KB, some are 300 KB, some are 1 MB, some 600 MB (?) I tried running *coin in a LiveCD environment and replacing wallet.dat with each of those files but it doesnt work. --- I'm about to give up ... any ideas? I'll reward the person who can help

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Devcoin-QT
on: May 30, 2013, 03:16:30 PM
The Devcoin-QT I found & compiled in Linux looks quite archaic: Can't even use encrypted wallet. It seems to use a very old version of Bitcoin-QT Did I get the wrong one, or is there no newer one available? In that case, are there plans for a new version?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Every single point PWC haters repeated ad nauseam proved to be wrong
on: May 22, 2013, 12:34:46 PM

1) They kept repeating every single day, for hours, "PWC will never see an exchange" 2) They kept saying how "nobody is buying PowerCoin, at all, there are only sell orders" You can clearly see the price is slowly - but steadily - rising. How many other coins can claim that right now? And PWC is brand new ... Look at the BUY ORDERS window. Does it look like "no buys" to you? Yes, there are 2 pages of them if you scroll down (Cryptsy)

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Idea: NeuroCoin
on: May 16, 2013, 07:14:52 PM
The NeuroCoin idea is this: we would harness the neuronal structure of the brain for hashing power. Basically, a person would have a surgical procedure so that he could connect to a software miner; the miner would send problems to the brain to solve while at the same time projecting a virtual reality directly into their consciousness. The brain is the most advanced supercomputer in the Universe. People would go to massive NRC farms and connect themselves for X time, or stay connected forever and enjoy their parallel realities.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Let's talk about Mincoin
on: May 15, 2013, 04:23:39 PM
- Excellent exchange (one of the best) at http://mcxnow.com- Scarce (only 1 million exist!) - one (1) minute block targets, which is 10 times faster than Bitcoin and 2.5 times faster than Litecoin! - has ACTUAL SERVICES: WEB HOSTING ( for instance the coming http://www.hulkhost.net/ ) & many gambling sites and other typical stuff for cryptos And is still so damn cheap. (0.0027) Why doesn't this one get more spotlight? Or, better question: why does BTC-E accept Scamcoins like CHNCoin instead of serious ones like Mincoin?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Funny thing about accusations against alt-coins
on: May 13, 2013, 11:44:24 PM
There are threads here all the time accusing alt coins of being mere copies that add nothing innovative and are therefore completely useless, "scamcoins", just diluting the value of serious coins ... and many times these people are Litecoin defenders, they call to arms: defend Litecoin! Stand by Litecoin! Forget all these other clones ... Go read the original Litecoin thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47417.0You will have a deja-vu ... when coblee posted it, people objected with the exact same arguments! (No innovation, just copy (of fairbrix/tenebrix), pump n dump, only used to dilute value of BTC ...)
