1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / please advice about bitcoin core wallet issue ... "input already spent" on: August 20, 2021, 07:34:51 PM
The problem is that my wallet history does not include dozen or so completed outgoing transactions and I now often cant send bitcoin - it gets rejected by the network because some inputs are already spent. Thats because at some point I must have overwritten newer wallet file with older copy and continued to use that.
Wallet now is almost impossible to use - I must cancel transaction and try again and again until core wallet doesnt pick "spent" input...

Today I deleted all "blocks" and "chainstate" folders and started to sync with network from 0, but that will take weeks to finish.

Will it find and add missing transactions to my wallet?

I hope someone can help.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / is it possibe to store wallet.dat seperatly from datadir (bitcoin core wallet)? on: February 11, 2016, 07:13:40 PM
I had installed bitcoin in c:\bitcoin however C disk has run out of space and I moved blocks to other HDD.

bitcoin core does not load wallet.dat that I have stored in c:\bitcoin
Instead it creates new wallet.dat file in datadir (E:\bitcoin)

Is it possible/how to get bitcoin core to load original wallet.dat ?

I really do not wish to just place wallet.dat in E:\bitcoin (unencripted HDD).
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How long would it take me to complete Bitcoin client upgrade? on: May 20, 2015, 07:31:57 AM
I currently run bitcoin v0.8.6-beta on this PC and received note that it is obsolete.

Last time that I installed bitcoin wallet software, I think that it re indexed all blocks and that took 3 or 4 days.

I would like to know, if I install newest version (bitcoin-0.10.2), will it again need to re index all blocks?
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Is it normal that Bitcoin Core wallet takes hours to verify blocks and start? on: June 24, 2014, 10:28:17 AM
I installed Bitcoin Core on my laptop and copied ~22GB of bitcoin data from my PC (blocks folder, chainstate folder, wallet.dat ...)
I launched Bitcoin more than 6 hours ago and its still hasn't started. Task Manager shows that its using %60+ CPU and 500-600 MB RAM resources.

Is that normal?

6  Other / Beginners & Help / what is killing bitcoin by drastically deflating it? on: March 30, 2013, 10:44:42 PM
Many bitcoin holders may feel like its a good thing that bitcoin -> $ value doubled within past few weeks,
but thats terrible news for people who sell stuff and would like to accept bitcoin...
7  Other / Beginners & Help / What happens to inactive Bitcoins? on: March 13, 2013, 05:21:27 AM
A lot of people (probably 20%-40% per year), who somehow got bitcoins, will end up forgetting them.

Within few years a lot (if not most) of the bitcoins could be hold by inactive accounts.

How does bitcoin system handle that?
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Doubling Bitcoin value in two months represent normal Bitcoin operation??? on: March 13, 2013, 01:15:22 AM
Whats with that kind of deflation?
Edited: Previously I improperly used term "inflation" while I was actually addressing concerns about deflation.

Once inflation bubble bursts, most get burned and product's market value declines below perceived bottom.
Prices then stabilize until more and more new participants enter the market... that can potentially create new bubble and cause it to happen all over again....

History chart shows that Bitcoin value crashed during ~Jun 2011

Can it crash that same way again?
Is it likely to happen?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Does bitcoin idea has a future, or will it get smothered by governments? on: March 12, 2013, 08:11:56 PM
As I understand it, bitcoin is decentralized, thus cant be directly closed down by any government.

In the past government of free country such as US brought up charges about money laundering (or something like that) and closed down E-Gold (e-currency that was backed up by actual gold bars and successfully operated for ~decade) while "temporally" freezing accounts of all customers during investigation (~5 years now without any option to cash out, so actually stealing/confiscating gold).

Bitcoin's anonymity makes it perfect victim to be accused of permitting everything illegal from fraud to terrorism.
History clearly shows that governments are keen to implement restrictive measures in the name of preventing theoretically possible problems.

I would like to know educated predictions about:
What will happen to "bitcoin <-> bank/debit card" exchange service providers when (if) Bitcoin becomes globally recognized and relatively popular payment method?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Can I change location for Bitcoin program's installation? on: March 08, 2013, 06:19:47 PM
Today i downloaded bitcoin-0.8.0, installed it and it has been synchronizing for ~3 hours already.

To my estimate it will download ~1.3GB data of "blocks" and it saves that info at C:\Users\*******\AppData\Roaming\blocks
My C: partition is running out of space. Is there a way to specify other location for "blocks" to be saved at?
