1  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin Payment Recieved scam on: November 20, 2014, 07:37:32 PM
I've just received an e-mail from no-reply@blokchains.info titled "Bitcoin Payment Recieved" claiming that I've received $2,031.88

Of course it's asking my to log on to my blockchain account.

I'm treating it as a scam because a) mispelling in title b) e-mail is NOT from blockchain address, and c) I don't have a blockchain account.

2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Wallet crashed, address and coins missing. [Fixed] on: July 31, 2014, 11:13:06 AM
Help, my wallet got corrupted!

Yesterday I bought some coins from BitBargain.co.uk. Everything went smoothly, so I created a new receiving address in
my wallet on my PC and sent the coins. Then unexpectedly my BitCoin wallet closed. When I reopened it, it was in that
state where it seems completely out-of-date. I have done a -rescan which didn't do much, and a -reindex which looks as if
the wallet is working properly. Some of the labels have gone missing, but more seriously so is my recent purchase.

I have a backup from a few days ago, but it doesn't have the newly created address in it. I see that the transfer is in the
blockchain, and have the TXID but I don't know what to do next. Is there any way of getting my coins back?

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What would be needed in a coin that liked Scrypt ASICs? on: April 10, 2014, 02:42:16 PM
So I was thinking about Gridseed miners, but it seems that many people want to change their coins away from Scrypt to something different because of these ASICs. Does this produce a gap in the market for a coin that is designed with Scrypt ASICs in mind? What parameters would be needed to encourage adoption?
4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / How 'specific' are ASICs? on: July 12, 2013, 08:03:25 PM
I was wondering what will happen to all the ASICs in 18-24 months when they are no longer profitable. Can they be used to mine other sha-256 cryptocoins, or are they absolutely specific to Bitcoin? Could the firmware be updated usefully?

I want to reply to this -> Small UK group buy Block Erupter USB @ 1.99 BTC + taxes/duty & postage so I'm posting here to start with, to get my count up. Meanwhile if anyone here can help, I'd be really grateful.

The gist of my reply is that I'll join in.
