I was just reading this article about the class-action lawsuit against Mt. Gox being filed in Ontario. They have a poll asking if one would ever buy bitcoins. Over 5000 voters and 95% voted no, while only 3% voted yes.

This Mt. Gox fiasco just keeps getting more interesting

(Reuters) - A class-action lawsuit has been filed in Canada against Mt. Gox, the leading bitcoin exchange that lost more than $400 million of customers' digital currency, along with Mizuho Bank Ltd, one of Japan's largest lenders.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, comes just days after Mt. Gox, based in Tokyo, filed for a U.S. Chapter 15 bankruptcy, which shields the company from lawsuits in U.S. courts.

The plaintiffs are Canadian residents who allege they are owed currency and the value of bitcoins by Mt. Gox that they have been unable to withdraw.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of "all persons in Canada who paid a fee to Mt. Gox to buy, sell or otherwise trade bitcoins" and all those who had bitcoins or currently stored with Mt. Gox on February 7.

The filing alleges that a lengthy security breach at Mt. Gox resulted in "the pilfering of millions of dollars' worth of its' users' bitcoins."

On February 25 the website was shut down and users who had currency, including bitcoins, in Mt. Gox accounts could no longer access those funds. Approximately 750,000 of users' bitcoins were lost, the lawsuit states.

Mizuho Bank is named in the lawsuit because "all non-bitcoin currency received by the Mt. Gox Defendants from its users was held in an account or accounts" at the Japanese lending institution, the lawsuit said.

The case is David Joyce, et al and MtGox Inc, et al, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, CV-15-500253-00CP.

I was talking with one of my neighbors the other day and he asked me if I had heard of BTC before and mentioned that people in his community are using it to send money to relatives in Somalia. They use a system based on hawala; an honor-based value transfer system that works outside of official financial institutions. They used to have albarakat before, but that didn't go down too well with the US. Do you think this could affect the price if it starts to pick up? If you compare the past posts of Yacoin to Alternativecypt, you will find that they both run the same type of scam, they both write in a similar style, and they both react exactly the same way when people accuse them of being scammers. This guy Alternativecypt/Yacoin asks people to send a coin to a certain address, then claims he did not receive the coins. When the victim posts proof that they sent the coins to the address, he claims that he gave a different address to the victim and that they are the scammers.

I connected to the victim's computer via TV to view the address of the PMs and confirm that he did indeed send the 40 LTC. Here's a screenshot I took:

EDIT: Oh yeah, they also both have the same time zone, and their accounts were only created days apart. They can both post at the same time with different IPs using proxy servers or TOR. This guy even tried photoshopping screenshots as proof.

Seems like these guys who pre-mined the BitBars are posting sell offers that are really high. Then they make new accounts with like 10 posts offering to sell cheaper. People see that and think they are getting cheap bars so they buy.
