1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ad campaign for Bitcoins? on: February 08, 2016, 05:10:49 PM
Is this a good way to generate income or is it a better way to clog a public forum with nonsense commenting?

I'm scared that if I start ad campaigning, I start spewing non-sensical garbage just to try to get a gambling addict to click my ad so I can get a fraction of a coin. Has this happened to you??

Finally, I was thinking about getting a job so that I could support myself and contribute to society, but part of me wants to be a piece of shit and try to get BTC by enticing gambling addicts to click a link on my excessive commenting throughout a forum. Has this happened to you? Are you a piece of shit without anything real to contribute except pure selfishness??

What are your thoughts?  All ad campaigners welcome to comment so that I can ignore you and hopefully sift the wheat (if any remains) from the chaff on this site.
2  Economy / Service Discussion / My email to Coindesk.com regarding censorship/comments policy on: June 21, 2014, 02:59:52 PM
On this article;
http://www.coindesk.com/mt-gox-victims-angered-mark-karpeles-twitter-return/

My first comment;

"Has the investigation revealed any criminal elements?
Or was it Caveat Emptor for Gox users, who misplaced their trust?
Will there be any recourse??

Erik Voorheis in his "Bitcoin A Libertarian Introduction" warned us about letting anyone else hold our private keys. This written warning was issued in April 2012. If you havent read it yet I highly suggest it. All very relevant still except the section on purchasing BTC. That's changed a bit since April 2012.

I know it's painful to lose money. My condolences to those who used Mt. Gox."

A reply from another reader;
"Well, your grandma doesn't know what private key is. She better to entrust her bitcoin to you. Otherwise she may lost their bitcoin because she doesn't have any backup while she lost her phone or someone stole her bitcoin by offering fancy games installed on her laptop. And you can make some money by becoming “Trustee”

Just make sure that you are:

• Trusted
• Reliable
• Insured
• Know what private key is and how to secure it"

My response/comment which was censored;
"I've helped numerous people get into BTC.

We use localbitcoins.com and electrum wallet.
I charge 3% of the total (in btc) plus gas if I have to drive.

Not one person who I've helped purchase btc has lost any.
I like to think I am trustworthy but I am all too human...

What scares me is that I know there are things I don't know.
Is Electrum as secure as I believe it to be?
Will there be a bitcoin 2.0 making btc 1.0 worthless?
Is having my associates pay a premium on localbitcoins.com to avoid "verified accounts" on the exchanges the best strategy??
Privacy>Maximum btc???

My grandparents are all dead...
But I know plenty of grandparents who are computer literate.

With Liberty (financial for now) comes responsibility. Part of my helping
people get into BTC is to bring to their attention awesome websites like
coindesk and informative articles like the one Erik wrote. I don't just throw them to the wolves."

I would like to know how this comment was in violation of the comment policy. Why was this comment deleted??

The comments policy states;

"

    Constant trolling of others to get into arguments will be noticed. The appropriate action will be taken.
    Any potentially libellous posting or comments in breach of copyright will be deleted.

And yet this comment by username d3rrl is allowed to stay;

"You mean Erik Voorheis the con man? yes, lets take more advice from him!"

And some responses to this comment;

"Everything this guy says (d3rrl) must be disregarded. He's a troll (period)!"

"Why did you call Erik V. a con man? The guy is as strait as they come."

"I am not aware of Erik being involved in any cons. Got a link to verify this libel??
Either way, the article I referenced above is not diminished by the allegations you raise.
Have you read it?"

So why was my respectful, thoughtful comment censored, meanwhile the obvious troll spewing libel stands?

I'm getting tired of this seemingly nonsensical censorship policy. It is plainly obvious I am not writing the libel or trolling. I am writing appropriate comments that are on point; comments which contribute to the discussion rather than ruin it. I would appreciate an explanation as to why my comment was censored yet the obvious trolling libel is not censored.
3  Other / Politics & Society / Harry Reid is a two faced terrorcrat. on: May 22, 2014, 01:53:15 PM
I agree with our Native American population---I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins.
One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as warriors, but nay nay....

We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch The Kansas City Chiefs, The Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians.  If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of the militant Blacks from the 60's alive.  Gone.  Offensive to us white folk.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population.  Do you see a team named for the Confederacy?  No!  There is no room for any reference to that tragic war between the states that cost this country so many young men's lives.

Besides, the South shall rise again!!

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our football team names.  Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.  The fact that there are birds on their shirts does not protect either the Arizona or the St. Louis Cardinals---gone!

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged as their way of life.  We are talking the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children---and it is all about the children.

The Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Rams--promote gay men.  Wrong message to our children.

The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible spending habits.  Wrong message to our children.

The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity--a growing childhood epidemic.  Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates.  Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee Brewers---well, that goes without saying....   Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go.  We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should.  A high priority directly behind efficiently managing our country's health care.  Amen.

Shelly Eisman operates Wildkind Care out of her home in Montour Falls NY. She is currently caring for multiple wild birds, a fawn, baby squirrels and more on an annual budget of less than $25,000. I recently brought one of my chickens to her as it had an open fracture on its middle "toe". She thanked me profusely for the donation I left her, and stated that she is not one to ask for them. She does not know that I am asking for donations on her behalf at this time. Please consider bringing this awesome person into the Bitcoin fold by making a donation to her. I will encourage her and assist her to spend the Bitcoins on necessary supplies rather than immediately cashing out for USD.

As you do not know me and should not trust me... If you do decide to donate to the address I have set up for her, feel free to call her and ask "Did Levon Marcellus remit the donation I sent to you?" The phone number is on the picture in the link above. When she says "Yes, he did", please leave feedback here so that others can trust me in this.

For those who will benefit from it, a donation to her is tax-deductible.

Thanks for your consideration. Levon

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin for liberty on: April 15, 2014, 03:36:06 AM
Localbitcoins.com facilitates person to person transactions.
Perhaps this is more cumbersome than using an exchange.
However local bitcoins.com can provide price discovery, just as an exchange does.
Are you willing to acquire your BTC at market price by meeting someone in person? I am and I have found it to be a pleasant experience.
A commenter asked "Who would be interested in an exchange that doesn't deal with fiat? Just to avoid KYC & AML" Good question.
I would ask,
"Who would be interested in having to deal with a bank just to get on an exchange?"
Especially when the alternative is so much better for the soul.
Socially and for Liberty.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Needed: Unique Christmas Gift ideas bought with BTC on: December 11, 2013, 06:16:15 PM
I came across an article recently, http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-iranian-shoe-store-trade-sanctions/

My father is a frothing at the mouth, hook line and sinker, Rah Rah murikah, Iran is evil, person who also doesn't really understand the global nature of bitcoin.

So I decided to order him a beautiful pair of Persian shoes (from the article) http://persianshoes.com/

They're a BoB, Bitcoin only business, although I suspect they accept local Iranian currency and they would probably accept the dollar if they were allowed to.

Anyway I want to know what are you buying for xmas with bitcoin?
I have other people to shop for and if you have some unique ideas please share with me.

I'm shopping for a girlfriend, mother, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews age 4-9. And of course my father is already taken care of.

Thanks for your response!

For any who have read Cracking the Code,

This is awesome news.   This isn't quite an example of Jury Nullification, but it is a great example of how just a single person can make a difference.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [BOUNTY] Project: Signed message label printer, 30 btc total 10 for each aspect on: June 17, 2013, 02:31:41 PM
I need a solution similar to was casascius is asking for with a twist.
 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232875.0

A similar product, not tweaked or usable yet.
 http://www.bradyid.com/bradyid/cms/contentView.do/7214/Brand-Protection.html

I need to be able to print a signature (signed message) onto a label, preferably in qr code format rather than 88 long string.
Each label will have a unique signature as each signed message will have a unique text message. The text message to be signed will be a number, 1 up to infinity.

The second half of this project is web design work.
A customer will use their smart phone to take a picture of the qr code label.
This will take them to a website where they can verify the label is indeed a signed message from my wallet.
2nd the website will tell them how many times that same label has been looked up, if at all.

The third aspect of this project is;
I need someone to write a program to automate the message signing process so I dont have to create each label by mouse clicking.

PM me for more info. I will make further details and contact info available to those wishing to tackle this need and provide a solution.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Blockchain.info; repeated transactions of 0.0000025?!? on: May 16, 2013, 03:01:39 AM
Currently 11:00pm EST
Simply go to blockchain.info and look at the list of recent transactions.
What is with the repeated transactions? 19 out of 20 transactions are in the amount of 0.0000025 BTC.
Wtf does this mean?
Can someone enlighten a noob.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Documenting my noobish learnings on: March 14, 2013, 02:22:26 PM
After the recent fork I decided to check my version of BitcoinQT.exe
I was using version 0.6.3 I think. Anyway I downloaded and installed 0.8
The wallet needed to re-index ~230000 block (if i remember correctly).
It is now finally done indexing but there is something odd.

My wallet shows that I am fully re-indexed and synced with the last block being created 3 minutes ago.
Yet In the overview tab I see   "unconfirmed:     0.00142 BTC"

So why am I fully synced and up to date with blocks yet my wallet shows a value for unconfirmed?

FYI I have not performed any transactions since the fork except to send .705 BTC. My most recent receive transx was on March 8th,  3 days prior to the fork.
Also now my transaction list shows all completed transx prior to Feb 18th with a question mark on the left, and all transx from Feb 19th on with a green check to the left.

Can anyone point me to some reading, a solution, or care to respond here?
Thanks,
LAM
