1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Avado or Daapnode for staking 32 Eth on: November 22, 2023, 12:19:03 PM
I'm thinking to stake Ethereum and run a node, I'm trying to decide between the two
Unfortunately I didn't follow much about the Ethereum ecosystem development and my knowledge of what's going on, and how to stake is very low. But as I dont plan to sell the eth soon, I defiantly feel like I should run a note

I would go with avado as it looks very simple, but it feels like avado is almost 50% more expansive (especially now at black Friday) than Daapnode.

How simple it is to install an Ether node on Daapnode compared to Avado? (i heard avado is very simple). I'm looking for a simple straightforward solution, hopefully with minimum possibilities to make mistakes. I do not want to start to dive into the depth of learning a new language.
How does the support team and community of each?
How to pick the right staking machine? (how do I know how much Ram I need and how much TB? and if to pick NVMe or SSD)

and a bonus question - what is MEV? Smiley
2  Economy / Exchanges / Avoid Bittrex! on: November 13, 2020, 04:31:07 PM
I used bittrex.com a long time ago (many years actually) and I have there a bit more then 0.5btc sitting in the account.
back then it wasn't THAT much, but now it became a lot more.

For some reason they do not tell, they decided to block the access from my account (I haven't used it for few years) and want me to send them tons of private documents! all this without explaining why, and while I have access to my email + password with 2fa AND a verified account.

Of course I can give them all the stuff they requested as i'm the legit owner, but i'm not interested in doing so as it is very private.
any suggestions?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Auroracoin and the current Icelandic election on: October 27, 2016, 11:01:07 AM
Disclaimer - I'm a (very) patient Auroracoin bag holder Smiley

As some of you aware, "The Pirate Party" in Iceland got a big chance of winning the election this Saturday
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_Party_(Iceland)
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/oct/26/iceland-election-could-propel-radical-pirate-party-into-power

This party is Pro-cryptocurrency; they promise that bitcoin will be a legal tender.
In the case they will get elected, do you think there is a chance that they will consider Auroracoin as a possible tender as well?

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What NEM has to offer? on: July 19, 2014, 07:37:58 PM
I see there is quite a lot of hype around NEM - NEMstake (maybe its because I spend too much time in the NXT community: ).
But I cant understand what it has to offer that no other coin have?
What make's people believe in it rather than NXT or any other POS coin?

I couldn't find what i'm looking for in http://www.ournem.com/ which is very a pretty website but has lack of information inside it
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why me and a bunch of others believe in Auroracoin on: April 03, 2014, 01:05:23 PM
When Auroracoin was launched its price was exactly the price it reflects now - 0.04-0.08 btc per AUR

I never invested before in any alternative crypto but Bitcoin and Litecoin-> (that I already converted the litecoin to AUR)
so what made me change my mind and trust an anonymous guy who premined tons of coins?

two things
1)the promise and innovation AUR offered (Yeah it was before all the Spaincoin, Isracoin, Scotcoin...)
2)Some good gut feeling.

I looked at all the other alts and they were clones with no difference. none of them had a real chance to become a real currency that is being used;
A large percent of them had something that really scares me when I look at crypto currency. especially at Bitcoin and Litecoin. a small minority hold most of them.

Auroracoin promised that its not going to be like that by making sure the supply will be divided in quite a fair way. It was aimed for a small population (almost a community) that loves technology and suffered from currency inflation for years and hate bankers. That's the perfect place!

I dont expect AUR to go to 100usd per AUR in the next few weeks or even months, and when it did go up I sold most of my AUR. But I believe that this is the only alternative coin that can be a competition to Bitcoin.

Yeah, I know the Icelandic government are Anti-cryptocurrency but I believe that when they re-consider the option and understand they have here an amazing and unique opportunity to actually FIX their flawed financial system, they will agree to regulate and adopt it.
almost 9% of Iceland's population (330k citizens) already claimed their coins in a bit more then a week! where else can you find statistics like that?

and unlike any other alts its the only alt coin beside bitcoin that I see people actually using
take a look at that http://aurcoin.is/      and that     https://bland.is/classified/?categoryId=44&sub=1     and that     https://www.facebook.com/groups/544259455688424/

In conclusion I would never put my life saving in AUR  (its still a pre-mined coin:) ), but I would defiantly buy some for my long term portfolio.
So far my guts were right about Baldur and he delivered what he promised, After following him and his posts  I really don't think he made this coin due to greed.
9  Economy / Marketplace / ☆☆☆☆ Invest in Bitcoin ventures ☆☆☆☆ on: March 31, 2014, 11:57:04 AM
Hi!
A few years ago I was a venture capitalist and thanks to an early investment in Bitcoin I was able to start my own business as a broker who matches investors with ventures according to their interests.
Recently I encountered a number of entrepreneurs in the Bitcoin Community that are looking for funding, they search for funds in traditional ways such as: addressing Venture Capitals, Angel Investors, Linkedin etc.

I noticed that this community has a large number of early Bitcoin adopters who are waiting for their coins to gain value. I would like to offer them an alternative way by acting as angel investors – investing in early stage Bitcoin based ventures (Minimum $50,000 USD / 100 Bitcoins) or to jointly invest in more mature companies.
Doing so can support the Bitcoin growth and allow investors to diversify their holdings, whilst still having some exposure to the Bitcoin.

I screen and check all of the companies, the entrepreneurs and Business plans.
All of the ventures are required to get incorporated and all of the transactions are escorted by lawyers.
I link the startups with the investors, the startups make a presentation and show them their idea.

Investors are not required to commit but they are asked to prove they have funds to invest.

Currently all of the ventures are Israeli based as it is easier for me to meet them in person and check their credibility but if this project will be successful I will consider expanding to ventures in different countries as well.

I personally prefer companies that work with security of Bitcoin, services, advertising etc... I’m not a fan of mining improvements and gambling.
My stake is in shares only - I do not charge any other commission which means that I strongly believe in each of the startups I offer.

You are most welcomed to contact me here
Names and details of Investors will remain discreet.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / In 40 Hours already 4% of Iceland's population claimed their Auroracoins on: March 25, 2014, 11:32:14 AM
I'm happy to see that Balduro stands by his words and deliver the coins.
The Media is going crazy over it

So far we didn't see any crazy dump of coins - I personally think that if you get a present you don't sell it away Smiley (But I do forecast a rollercoaster in the price due to speculators)

Icelandic business have the right attitude to accepting it and merchants tools already functioning... I wonder how the government will react, it can be a big Milestone in the life of Bitcoin

You can read more about Auroracoin in http://auroracoin.org/
Here is a copy and paste from the Annoucement page

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=446062.0
"Auroracoin is a cryptocurrency for Iceland. 21.000.000 coins, block reward 25. It is based on litecoin and is 50% premined. The premined coins will be distributed to the entire population of Iceland, commencing on midnight 25th of March 2014.

Auroracoin is designed to break the shackles of the fiat currency financial system in Iceland.

Iceland has been hit hard by financial meltdown and inflation. Not only did the entire banking system collapse in 2008, but the monetary history of Iceland is one of inflation, devaluation and currency controls.

Auroracoin is an opportunity for Icelanders to free themselves from currency controls and government debasement of the currency.

Auroracoin is based on the Litecoin protocol. However, it is started by the “Airdrop” of premined auroracoins to the Icelandic nation, designed to reach almost every Icelander. This one-time event will create the conditions for Icelanders to start using the currency, by providing them with a start and making them aware of the currency and its possibilities. After the Airdrop, the only way to acquire auroracoins will be through mining and transacting.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Auroracoin facebook campaign on: February 21, 2014, 09:46:35 AM
In order to get our Auroracoin project successful we need to get in-touch with most of the 300k residents
We found out that most of them use facebook on regular basis so we just launched yesterday a Facebook campaign that is starting to show results

15  Economy / Trading Discussion / How and where to cashout some of my bitcoins on: November 19, 2013, 05:45:39 AM
Hey guys!
Although I'm a big bitcoin fan... I would like to cash-out a portion of my holdings

I have a verified mtgox account, coinbase account and I live in the U.S
(I don't know if it helps but I have Australian bank account as well)

I see that there are a lot of exchanges with different rates and I would like to know what restrictions they have? (can I withdraw the all amount from gox directly to my bank account in the U.S?) can I transfer the bitcoins to btcchina and ask for a wiretransfer?

Thanks for the help!
16  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin around the world on: April 05, 2013, 07:10:45 PM
Google trends have a little map that mention the regional interest
One thing I noticed is the huge different between the words "bitcoin" and "bitcoins"

http://www.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en#q=bitcoin
http://www.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en#q=bitcoins

but what i'm really curious about is why all the arab world, India, china and ect... don't show any interest in the bitcoin? these are the places who suffer from money instability the most (Iran, Egypt and ect unlike Argentina who have a money crisis do show high interest int he bitcoin). In addition these countries need the anonymity of the bitcoin the most

Any opinions?

Edit:
after adding silver, I can see that "bitcoin" is more relevant than "bitcoins" Smiley

18  Economy / Speculation / If the 75$/bitcoin price was a bubble on: March 24, 2013, 11:06:23 AM
It would explode yesterday (23/03/2013)
Losing 30% of its value in few hours and than recover means the value is valid, don't you guys think so?

Although people tend forget that 30% decrease out of 75 is 52.5 while 30% decrease out of 20 is 14 the latter doesn't looks that scary as the first one Wink
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin in your portfolio on: March 20, 2013, 04:59:54 PM
what I think is great about the bitcoin is that it has low correlation with the market. (I believe its around 0 or maybe even a bit negative)
this type of commodities are rare (gold, silver) and are being looked for by the financial institutions

It is a matter of time that funds will find out the low correlation and add it to their portfolio.
although for this the bitcoin needs to be a less volatile and at a later stage of life, but when this will happen the bitcoin will actually make a strong print in our economy.

in the meanwhile, adding a small amount of bitcoin to your portfolio will allow you to see better returns at lower risk
