When you send a bitcoin from a wallet, is it sent from a specific bitcoin address, no address ?!?

I tried following instructions here: http://multibit.org/help_runFromUSBDrive.htmli.e ------- On a Mac, copy the entire MultiBit application onto your USB drive. The name of the application file will be MultiBit-[version].app. Then go to where your wallets are stored and copy the files multibit.properties and multibit.blockchain onto your USB drive into the same directory. You can then double click the MultiBit-[version].app on your USB drive to run MultiBit -------- I copied multibit.properties across to the USB drive but I can't find multibit.blockchain amongst the other files. So when I launch MultiBit from the USB drive its still displays my Mac directory at the top as the wallet address. What do I need to copy across apart from multibit.properties to get the wallet location onto the USB drive? I tried creating a 2nd wallet but it still gets created on my Mac not the the USB drive Many thanks,

I have 2 macs and would like to run Electrum on both. Is there any downside to doing this? If I just "restore an existing wallet from its seed" on new machine, is that the way to go about it? Presumably the wallet file will just have a different encryption password on 2nd machine. Any "wallet synchronization" issues? Anyway ...... any advice welcome. I won't do anything until I get some feedback that its an ok thing to do

I have a bitcoin address in my "receiving -> used" list. I need to sign a message with this to prove to an external party it is mine.
So I select sign from the drop-down menu for the address, type in a message, hit the "Sign" button and get a signature.
Great so far, except then I go to verify, paste the address and signatures in, hit "Verify" in and it just says
Error: wrong signature
I am using Electrum 1.9.7 on OSX
What am I doing wrong here? Surely the verify function should work on a signature I've just created from a key?
Please help.

I follow @bitcoininfo and used to get a hundred or so tweets a day with links to (presumably) all new posts at bitcointalk.org
But since a couple of days ago this has reduced down to just a few tweets a day.
Anyone else notice this? Has something gone wrong with the the new post -> tweet "machine"?

I've noticed this with 1.9.6 on Mac When I do a transaction, it works fine, but the status says "Verifying" permanently in "History" What you have to do is close and re-open electrum to get the green tick. Not a biggie at all, just thought you guys should know

With any bitcoin software / online service, I always like to be able to copy the current bitcoin amount, but I can't see a way of doing it in electrum.
I just want to be able to copy the current "Balance" displayed at the bottom of the wallet so I can paste it into a spreadsheet. Will that ever be possible?
If not, alternatives? Just getbalance() in the console I suppose .....

I just opened 1.9.6 today, which I have done for several days now, on OSX, and it says "not connected"
I click on the 'red circle' and nothing happens. Isn't that where the host list is supposed to pop up?
If not, how can I select a host to connect to?
thx!!

I wired out some money from gox on 9th November and it said "processed" Needless to say, the money still hasn't hit my account. Anyone got any recent experience of an international wire actually arriving? And how long it took to arrive? I know its a long shot but hey, its my money, they should at least send it to me

My OSX version of Electrum says "New version available: 1.9.5" but when I go to the download page, the OS X executable is still 1.9.4
Is there normally a gap between new versions becoming available and it being compiled on OS X?
thx

Anyone got a list of trading platforms that support shorting of the bitcoin price?

I tried to send 10 BTC to an address and a message popped up confirming the payment had been sent.
But I went to history, and there is nothing there to show the transaction has occurred.
So I tried it again, and now just get this repeatedly:
error: {u'message': u'TX rejected', u'code': -22}
I tried the history() command from the console and it doesn't show the payment has being sent.
I've tried restarting Electrum (1.81), tried different servers, but nothing has helped.
I saw the error in the other thread about not being able to send freshly mined coins so thought that might be the issue. How old do coins get before they are not "freshly mined"? The last coin I received was 6 days ago.
Can there sometimes be a delay in send transactions appearing in "History"? I only did it about 20 minutes ago but normally with electrum if you send money successfully it will appear immediately in the history.

I recently upgraded to 1.8 on Mac, everything is fine accept it refuses to send payments. I click 'send', then type in my encryption password, then the program just hangs, and I have to do a "force quit".
When I reopen the app, the money is still there, it has not been sent at all.
Is anyone else having this issue? It kind of stops me from being able to use the thing or move my bitcoins .......

I'm a noob trader, and just trying to get to grips with all the concepts involved.
Can experienced traders provide some insight into how they see bitcoin trading, whether it more like stock trading or forex, it would be very interesting. If this has been discussed before, apologies.

Let's say I lose my electrum.dat permanently, and restore my wallet from the deterministic seed using the mnemonics I have carefully remembered. Hunky dory. Everything comes back. Except ... I have imported a couple of external private keys, and the manual says these don't get recreated. Fair enough. But what I am trying to understand is whether the money from these transactions is lost as well? ie. if I had 32 BTC before the restore, will I have 32 BTC balance after restoring, even if 1/2 the transactions were done with the imported keys? Obviously a very important thing to understand If they are lost, it means backups of electrum.dat are *really* crucial if you use imported keys (I am presuming electrum.dat *will* restore imported keys as well?) I would of course love to read this stuff in the FAQ but ..... its just not there. I really like Electrum but its still a bit scary using it. It just needs a bigger and better FAQ. Just my 2 cents.

I am running 1.7.3 and it just stops at "Synchronizing" - I have tried several servers.
So I went to electrum.org and noticed 1.7.4 was out. Tried to download but the Mac app still looks like 1.7.3. Is that going to be updated soon?
Thanks,
