1  Economy / Gambling discussion / How Big is the online gambling industry today? on: May 03, 2023, 11:44:23 AM
Quote
The global online gambling market size was valued at USD 63.53 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.7% from 2023 to 2030. The growing internet penetration and rise in the use of mobile phones among users for playing online games is increasing the demand for online gambling. For instance, in 2022, internet penetration in the U.S. was 92% of the country's total population. Furthermore, cultural and legalization approval, easy access to online gambling, celebrity endorsements, and corporate sponsorships are also helping market growth.

Based on type, the global online gambling market is segmented into poker, sports betting, casinos, and others. The sports betting segment is expected to gain a substantial market share in the forecast period due to the growth of the sports betting industry driven by the effective use of computers and cell phones to place wagers on sporting events.

When you summarize it, it all goes down to the "easy access" of the gambling sites in the world.
Cell phones/smart phones - If there is no application available for the gambling site, you can always use the browser of phone instead, if it won't work in mobile view then, you can use other browsers that have the feature of "desktop view". It's actually easy nowadays to create a solution for small problems like this.
Desktop/Laptops - According to ACS (American Community Survey) 89 percent of household today have a desktop or a laptop in their place. Internet connection is not a problem anymore because they are offering cheap prices for 10-25 mbps speed. Gambling sites doesn't need a super speed internet just to access it, most of them are text-based websites so loading a page won't be that long.

Marketing - We can now see celebrities endorsing the gambling sites. Even our heroes in the sport can now be paid to put the name of the gambling site in their shirts or jerseys or if they want more money, they can use their tongue and say the name of the site. Sponsorship. Every time we watch a sports event, any sport, you name it, we see their names being flashed on the screen.

According to the articles shared, sports betting will have the highest market gain in the next few years.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Careful! on: May 12, 2022, 03:00:19 PM
Careful yous guys. In this deep bear market there will be new altcoins that will be spreading around claiming they are one of the coins that were hit by the dump and might be a good decision to invest with because of their cheap price.

Just a bit of advise from a long time crypto investor. It happened to me and became a victim of it so might as well share it with you before you make wrong decisions.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Streamity (STM) HODLERS! Read! on: October 11, 2020, 06:28:33 PM
I hope I am in the right section.

It may be the last minute but you still have some time.
They are swapping to Binance Blockchain so you better swap those tokens so it won't go to waste.

How to swap: https://medium.com/@streamityorg/due-to-high-fees-and-overload-of-the-ethereum-network-streamity-switches-to-the-binance-cba53e299904
Connecting Metamask to BSC: https://medium.com/@streamityorg/setup-metamask-wallet-configure-it-to-connect-to-bsc-includes-ledger-hardware-wallet-support-643538bbbce3

You can use Metamask directly to send those STM tokens to the address in the Medium article.

Good luck guys.
Sorry if it might be late.
I just swapped my token this day.
I don't know what timeline they are using so better hurry swapping it.

PS: Careful with scammers using a different address.
4  Economy / Speculation / Miner's Strike! on: July 10, 2020, 03:48:15 PM
After the halving, May 2020 we didn't see much movement on the bitcoin price.
It just moves at the range of $9,000 - $9800.
Most veterans traders will see this as an abnormal event of bitcoin price.  Grin
It should be jumping with thousands of dollars just like what happened in March 2020 @$4800 then back to almost 9k.
It had been 2 months post halving.

Are the miners on strike to sell their coins?
Is this ($9200+) price of bitcoin not enough to secure all the bills that needs to be paid and some profit?
Are they keeping rewards pre-halving waiting for demand to take effect?
They cannot buy more bitcoin to increase the price due to pandemic? (Saving it for self necessities)

I don't have proof. I am just speculating here.  Grin
What do you think?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin and Blockchain in Hollywood Movies on: March 03, 2020, 06:49:47 AM
So recently, I have been watching a lot of films with the (paid) Fox movies application and other ways.
Struck with some movies adding bitcoin and the blockchain in their scripts and plots.
People are seeing it now even in Hollywood.

1. The Hustle.
Penny Rust (Rebel Wilson) trying to payback Thomas for the medical expenses in bitcoin.
She even stated how much the transaction fee is. It was really funny.
Cannot find a better clip but here is one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fk9Xd9lkR4 go to 2:35.
Credits to the owner.

2. Charlie's Angels (2019)
Quote
Elena Houghlin (Naomi Scott) is a scientist, engineer and inventor of Calisto -- a sustainable energy source that will revolutionize the way people use power. But when the cutting edge technology falls into the wrong hands, Elena turns to the Townsend Agency for help. Now, it's up to the Angels -- Jane, Sabina and the newly recruited Elena -- to retrieve Calisto before it can be transformed into a weapon of mass destruction.
Thanks to google.

“All my character talked about was blockchain, and I remember I went in and Liz Banks [director] is so smart…she was explaining it to me, and I was not getting it.”

Naomi continues, “She got a piece of paper out and was drawing a diagram. I was like ‘she’s going to recast me because I don’t know what blockchain is’…to this day, I don’t know what blockchain means.” LOL!

(Sorry, I can't find the Jimmy Fallon interview.)

3. Crypto (2019)
Director: John Stalberg Jr.
This, I haven't watched yet. Trying to get a copy of the film.

4. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Credits to Botnake. Thanks for the share.

"you can forget nano-tech. Forget AI. Forget cryptocurrency. Quantum energy is the future."

5. Title: The Imitation Game (2014)
(War and Drama)
No script about bitcoin or cryptocurrencies but more like about cryptography only.
Just a good history for how difficult it is to solve/understand encrypted words.
I just think Satoshi have also gone through this numerous problems.

6. Jexi (2019)
Comedy
Somehow sarcastic but just want to add it.
Script:
Phil: And how's our Bitcoin mining operation going?
Jexi: We are not making money yet, but we will be rich soon. No one ever loses money with Bitcoin.
Added some photos here.

If you have some to share, please do. Even those with just a little part in the script.
Not the old ones though as I know there is already one thread for that.
Also, if I am in the wrong section, please correct me.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / No shill, just news. on: January 28, 2020, 06:05:44 AM
So I had been staying in Mercatox just looking at the trades.
Yeah, despite of Binance being at the top I still want to see how other trading websites are working their magics.

Recently one coin had been added.
I just hate it when people use the "Bitcoin" name for their coins.
There are a lot of words out there. Why not use them? Be unique.
The problem is because newbies might confused this for bitcoin and looking at the cheap price they might really bite that bait that was thrown.
I don't know about anything about the coin so you could judge it.
Market is still low and I don't think it will get any higher.

https://mercatox.com/news/bxc-added
Ticker is BXC which might really get confusing and the name is Bitcoin Classic. What?!!
Newbies, be really careful with what  you buy.

You could also enlighten me of what is it about. I don't want to make efforts digging more for it might be just a waste of time.
I'd rather read comments here.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi. What did he found to create something like bitcoin? on: September 28, 2018, 06:17:12 PM
I have been reading a lot of documentaries in the internet (maybe a little bit of too much) Grin

So the question is why?
For someone to create something he must have a will to do it. He must have found something which is wrong with the currency that we are using now specially USD.

It is not written in his whitepaper.
So what could it be?

Suddenly after a successful programming and all the editing he have done which could be seen in this forum he vanished.
Is there a threat to his life?

Roth - when you google it one word or name suddenly pops out.

The Rothschild family is a wealthy Jewish family descending from Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812), a court factor to the German Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel in the Free City of Frankfurt, Holy Roman Empire, who established his banking business in the 1760s.

500 trillion worth. This goes on to their family from centuries ago until now.
Could they be a reason behind the sudden disappearance of Satoshi?
He is creating a currency where no one controls it. He became a threat. It could be a possibility.

Am I just full of imagination or it could be a possibility?
Please let me hear your opinions.
8  Economy / Speculation / Broke my heart. on: May 28, 2018, 04:40:24 PM
As of May 28, 2018.
Something really broke my heart.
I was just searching for the top 10 trading website then it lead me to CMC and I was really shocked with this.
Before it was number 1 at all trading sites and now.  Cry
Maybe we should all look back to where all this crypto came from.

Credits to CMC
