2  Economy / Exchanges / opening a bitcoin exchange site in my country on: September 03, 2016, 09:54:01 PM
the site will accept two ways of payment, bank wire and credit cards. For bank wire I see no problem, as I will deliver the bitcoins once I see the funds in my account. As for credit cards the users will expect to get paid instantly. I understand that I will have to keep someof the coins online on a wallet which allowes withdraws over api or something alike. Is that the correct way to do the cc transactions?  I see 2 points of failure here. One is the site I use goes under and I lose my coins, second is my site gets hacked and coin access is avilable to the wallet site. What is the best way to secure this? What sites with good reputation provide this service?
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / BTC to USD (or similar currency) on: August 25, 2016, 05:58:29 AM
I'm looking for a php (or javascript) function to replace BTC to USD just like the one google uses https://www.google.co.il/search?q=btc+to+usd&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=IIi-V-LaPMyN8QeGkI_YBQ

This should be something that prints the USD price automatically when you enter the BTC or vice versa, not something that you have to press submit and then it gets the price for you, this I already have:

Code:
$url = "https://api.bitcoinaverage.com/ticker/ILS/";
$json = json_decode(file_get_contents($url), true);
$price = $json["last"];

It needs to be automatically. There's no need for all the currencies. Just btc to usd (I will change the currency later) that will be shown automatically.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / ransom note on: August 02, 2016, 02:57:58 PM
A friend's of someone in my familly computer was hacked and encrypted with those pesky ransom software. They ask for 2BTC to decrypt the files on his computer. I said I'll sell him those 2 btc. He want me to send them directely to the ransome software address. Should I do that or should I ask him to install a wallet and send to him instead?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / won $3600 at black chip poker on: August 02, 2016, 01:00:44 PM
Sent a bitcoin withdraw request 50 hours ago and they still haven't released my funds. Alltough that came out actually good, as the BTC dropped 10% and the withdraw is in the price when they release, I'm still worried. My wife think they will not release the funds for this reason or the other, she think it's a one way street.

have anyone had any success withdrawing funds from black chip? or should i be worried?
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Why do you need to download 7 years of chain block on: August 01, 2016, 11:52:39 AM
ok, so I installed bitcoin core latest version and it downloaded over 80G of chain block. Let's assume, just for the fun of it, there are 1000 bitcoin core users out there. That's ~8T of wasted disk space. and considering bitcoin will live another 7 years and it will grow of couse, that's like ~20T of disk space (1000 users remember?) for what? couldn't be a centerlaize, maybe mirrored, location that the client will ask for the chain block from there? Why do we need to download it?
7  Economy / Services / Will do LINUX work for bitcoins on: July 27, 2016, 04:03:36 PM
I've been linux admin for the last 17 years. I specialized in all aspects of Linux systems and Linux hosting. I've done upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, installations, SSL, Apache, nginx, MySQL, sendmail, postfix, qmail, DNS, cpanel, plesk, you name it I've probably done it to the best satisfaction of my clients. I'm looking to do any type of Linux work, long term or occasional project for BTC. I provide fast, reliable, professional and cheap service and I look forward to hear from you.

Thanks.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / bitcoin core on linux on: July 26, 2016, 03:50:18 PM
I installed bitcoin core on linux and encrypted the wallet, it asked me for a passphrase and I gave it one. Now there's no indication anything is encrypted. I don't see any key in the bitcion directory and when I open the wallet it doesn't ask me for the passphrase.

Is the wallet really encrypted? when will I have to use the passphrase? Where are the keys?
