Recently several of my S5s started to behave erratically: hashing boards disappeared and then appeared again with various frequency, sometimes they hangs completely, one of them have two dead chips now. They was out of warranty period already for 1+ months so I decided to try to repair them and asked the price for controller board and got this answer:

Hello fellow miners  

I have some troubles with 5870 cards running with cgminer 3.3.0 under linux (ubuntu 12.10, 3.5.0-28-generic kernel).
I setup drivers from AMD site for HD5*** series and tried different SDK version ( 2.5, 2,7, 2.8 ) but only got HW errors in cgminer, zero valid shares (tried various pools).
Interesting thing is i got it to work somehow yesterday and it was hashing bitcoins OK for several hours but after poweroff cycle for night, thing refuse to work again only generting HW errors...

Does someone know what combination of software required for this old cards?

взял пару карт 5-ой и 6-ой серии и не могу их запустить cgminer'ом под линуксом (7-ая серия работает замечательно), ошибка одна: растут HW error's, а валидных шар нет.
дрова и SDK брал с сайта, пробовал разные версии, удалял вручную, ставил поверх, cgminer пересобирал...
самое что интересное что вчера все как то заработало и майнило много часов без проблем, т.е. проблема не в железе, но после ночного выключения опять вернулось к неработоспособному виду.
сталкивался кто нибудь с подобным?
