101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Bittrex Coin Due Diligence on: October 25, 2017, 03:45:58 PM
I haven't been trading as much on Bittrex in the last few months because working on other methods, but I would like to get back to Bittrex trading.  I know a lot of people just chime in here to sell their bags, but does anyone have any real advice on how to make sense of Bittrex's offerings so I can buy at some lows?   Any headlines, associations, good threads here to post, and so on?
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Updates on Exchanges and BTG on: October 19, 2017, 09:50:57 PM
So far Cryptopia and Novaexchange are saying they won't support BTG, and Yobit is saying it will.  Any other news?

103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / BitcoinCash Current Price Speculations on: October 17, 2017, 09:46:55 PM
Curious what people think about BCC and the price that it's currently getting.  It has over a 6 billion dollar marketcap and has had almost a billion dollars in volume today.

I am hoping for some facts about the management of it, their plans, networks, and so on.

104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Do we know for sure exchanges giving BTCGold ? on: October 14, 2017, 06:14:17 PM
Is there a definite agreement from the BTCGold team that they are giving away BTCGold for BTC?

Are there statements from Coinbase and the major exchanges?
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Thread for general questions about staking wallets on: October 12, 2017, 11:35:43 PM
Thought it might be a good idea to have a thread that could discuss technical aspects of staking wallets.

Anyone know if there there is an error where a wallet will show one connection but still be offline or otherwise messed up?

I have one where it is showing that and coins as immature, which make sense as I sent a lot of small blocks to myself.  It was staking fine before that.

I gather working pos wallets can show different numbers of connections based on the nodes they happen to be using?
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / We need some people to get involved with GrowthCoin on: October 03, 2017, 08:29:30 PM
I've done research on finding the best staking coins and GrowthCoin has been one of them, with low entry, high staking percentage and the impossibility of inflation driving the coins down to 1 sat, which is a problem with high return POS coins.   But it looks like the coin has been practically abandoned recently.  I would like to get involved with learning more about under the hood programming and maintaining peers, etc.  If you're interested in helping, here is the thread:

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / NEXUS Speculation Ron Paul Posts about Nexus/at a low price on: September 29, 2017, 07:25:12 PM
What do you think of NEXUS?

Some news Ron Paul just posted about Nexus and spoke at their Conference
https://www.facebook.com/ronpaul/posts/10156065529806686

If that gets shared on a lot of social media the price may spike.  It's at a low right now.

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Highly Volatile Coins Can Make a Lot of DOGE on: September 29, 2017, 04:18:02 PM
When you see those coins go up on CMC, and they aren't moving 1 Sat, remember there is a lot of DOGE that can be made which will add up into BTC if you capture the volatility.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / BuzzCoin Speculation on: September 25, 2017, 08:43:22 PM
This coin has a high POS percentage.  While LindaCoin and EmberCoin both do as well, LindaCoin still sees some play while EmberCoin looks to be bottoming out near the 2 Sat range.  What do you think the future of BuzzCoin will be?

110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency is a great way to teach math in schools on: September 21, 2017, 01:01:40 PM
It would be interesting to see who the first teachers are to do this and if the media picks them up.  I know small media outlets would as they pretty much cover anything.

POS Wallets could teach a lot about basic math even to elementary school kids.  PiggyCoin in fact seems geared in that direction, it's like a Piggybank.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Growthcoin is the best Proof of Stake Coin Right Now on: September 21, 2017, 12:32:29 PM
Growthcoin is the best proof of stake coin right now for several reasons.

1  It's not inflationary.  Other coins give you 100% or more but they have huge sell walls now at 4 sat or less and don't look like they can go up.
2  It's cheap right now.  It's down about from usual price range of around 30 to 60 sats.
3  It's on top as the result of testing around 10 major lower entry high percentage POS.  Only Truck, RAIN, PIGGY, BOAT, WORM, and 808 have had consistent staking and meet the criteria of not being inflationary.
4  You can post high Sat coins as the wonder coins but these have a tendency to go down in value, not up.

112  Bitcoin / Mining support / Netgear Router Issues/Internet Service Providers on: September 18, 2017, 07:07:19 PM
I was mining with two antminers fine for about six months and turned them off in the summer.  I wanted to upgrade my router firmware and the process failed on me.  Netgear wants a huge amount of money for customer support, the router is less than a year old, and I did nothing wrong.  They have a bad reputation now for this practice.

Comcast was giving out the IP address of 10.0.0.1 which didn't work with the old Antminer style, which is why I had to buy the router.

To make things worse, I was assigned a dynamically changing IP address which I just had them change it to a static one (a 7*.# one).  I turned on an Antminer and the power is there but it's not engaging and I can't reach it through a browser.

Any suggestions?   Is there a way of going around netgear support and making the router work again?
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Internet Society Blockchain Special Interest Group on: September 17, 2017, 03:48:55 PM

"The audio on this starts out a little quiet, but it soon gets louder. There are also fairly accurate auto-captions. The Internet Society now has
a Blockchain Special Interest Group <https://www.isoc-bsig.org/>, open to all."

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / When wallets act as trojans/viruses on: September 02, 2017, 01:25:07 AM
Does anyone have any experience how to test whether a wallet may not be secure?   I know the usual methods, but this took place on another crypto forum and it seemed legit.  I talk about it in this thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2142143.msg21425406#msg21425406

Does anyone know what could cause that error?  I'm safely recovered from it but I have some coins in that wallet and not sure I want to boot it up again.  Is there a type of sandbox app or decompiler for such things?

I also got a trojan come up in my scanner after I did a check but I don't know where that came from.
115  Economy / Scam Accusations / Possible fraudulent wallet going around on: September 01, 2017, 11:59:29 PM
Someone posted information about a POS coin that sounded very good and it was hard for me to track down the wallet or information.  It doesn't have an announcement here.  A saw a lot of posts about it on another crypto site, and bounties given to addresses that were being posted in the thread.  It was one of the bigger other sites so I trusted that it was real.  I installed the wallet and bought some of the coins and after that I got a block index error which I posted below on several of my wallets.  The only one that didn't seem affected was 808 coin.  I read that to resolve this, just delete everything but the wallet.dat and restart the wallet and that seems to be working (it was a secondary computer that didn't have a lot of valuable coins on it).

But, I'm wondering, if this could have come from the wallet?  The wallet/coin is Koi coin.   I titled this as "possible" because I don't know.  I'm new to POS wallets and I wanted to learn more about them and as any tech knows, the way to learn is to solve a problem, often your own.

116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] PROGROCK TOKEN [PRG] PROGRESSIVE ROCK-- NEW 10,000 TOKEN AIRDROP!!! on: August 29, 2017, 11:42:35 PM
Purpose

ProgRock Token is a Digital Currency on the WAVES Platform.

The purpose of the ProgRock token is to get more awareness for cryptocurrency in the large community of music fans that are into progressive rock and other forums of progressive music. ProgRock token is a new concept in cryptocurrency which involves getting existing fanbases involved in cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is only in it's infancy, and even most computer professionals do not own any of it.  An intellectually stimulating music culture like Progressive Rock is the perfect group to further acceptance of digitally created currency.

There needs to be another standard of value in cryptocurrencies, that of people's personal interests, not just trying to create a new digital currency based on economics.  There are thousands of such currencies which have been created, but we need to focus on building exchanges of values within human interest groups like film, music, and other arts or social interest groups. There needed to be an easy to use interface for the general public, that was not just a wallet for one currency, but both a wallet and an exchange.  It is clear that WAVES has become that platform, with it's easy to use WavesLite wallet that can be installed as a Chrome extension.  It already has a 500 million dollar market cap and has been used worldwide.

Progressive rock has many redeeming features.  Most of the older major progressive rock stars are still leading productive lives into their old age.  Much of progressive rock borrows from classical, world music, jazz and folk making it a music that brings out the best in people.   It is loved worldwide and it is has been produced in almost every country.  Some of the famous bands associated with it are Yes, Genesis, ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer), King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, and literally thousands of others.

There had been a ProgCoin but according to the creator, "ProgCoin was just a smart contract token rather than a fully fledged currency. It had a limited lifespan."

What we are doing first is giving away ten ProgRock tokens per user post to each member of Progarchives and Progressiveears, the two largest and oldest online forums for discussion of Progressive Rock.  For example, if someone has been posting there a while and has 1500 posts, that would be 15,000 ProgRock tokens.  This announcement is being made in both forums.

This announcement will be added onto in the near future to describe more in detail progressive rock and the

117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN][AIRDROPS] SILENTFILM TOKEN [SLF] - 5000 TOKEN CHRISTMAS FILM AIRDROP!!! on: August 23, 2017, 06:15:00 AM
INTRODUCTION

SilentFilm Token [SLF] a digital currency on the Waves platform.  SilentFilm Token is one of a new breed of tokens created not as a stand-alone complete currency system but instead to promote knowledge and support the economy of those involved in worthy endeavors.

Silent Films were the only films made for the first forty years of film making history.  Sadly, up to 70% of all silent films no one will ever see again.  Every year, new silent films from this lost category of movies turn up unexpectedly.  It's one of the most exciting events going on today -- to stay in tune with the news about films being discovered which often have not been seen by anyone in over eighty years.

SilentFilm Token will help people explore silent films and reward them in the process.

The reason for this token's existence is that Silent Films are perhaps one of the least appreciated and under funded arts in existence.  In fact, the reason why 70% of them no longer exist in any form is because of great neglect and even outright destruction of them for their silver nitrate contents.

AIRDROPS

We will have several "airdrops." "Airdrops" are free coin giveaways in the cryptocurrency world.  We will also have an ICO to boost the price of the Token in the marketplace.  There are one hundred million SilentFilm Tokens available.  These will only be released very slowly over time so that they retain their value to those receiving them.    This token follows the "decentralized charity" framework of promoting cryptocurrencies to people interested in noble causes like the arts.

To get the first airdrop, have Junior member level status at Bitcointalk and simply name five silent films that are on YouTube and post screen shots from each of them on some social media site, image sharing site, or your own website.  PM the developer this information and "I Love Silent Films" in the Title. Do not post it in the thread. Send your WAVES address and 500 SilentFilm Tokens will be sent if you do exactly as asked. Allow up to one week to get the airdrop.

Bitcointalk is the central hub of cryptocurrency communications and has formal annoucements threads for most of the over one-thousand active cyptocurrencies.  If you are reading this somewhere else and do not have a Bitcointalk thread but would like to be involved in the SilentFilm token, there are ways you can help increase the value of the token.  Stay infomed about this by following updates at our website, which will be
online soon.

The WAVES digital currency allows you to have "currencies" created which are stored on the same address that you use for your WAVES address. As of the time writing this, WAVES has a over a 500 million dollar market cap.  It's the most user friendly of all cryptocurrencies, working as a stand-alone application that you first add to your Chrome browser as an extension. Burger King in Russia recently issued a token on the WAVES platform.

There will be more posted in this thread about why Silent Films are important and why you should get to know more about them, if you don't already.

Some Silent Films you may want to select from are:

Lon Chaney, Sr. films:
The Hunchback of Notredame
The Phantom of the Opera
The Shock
He Who Gets Slapped
The Unholy Three
Laugh, Clown, Laugh
Tell It to the Marines

Films by Others:

The Docks of New York
Tramp,Tramp, Tramp (1926)
The Strong Man (1926)
Buster Keaton Movies
Charley Chaplin Movies

Beggars of Life (1928 Louise Brooks)
A Fool There Was 1915 (Theda Bara)
The Cabinet of Dr Caligari 1920
The Sky Pilot
Ella Cinders

These are just some suggestions to get you started.  More will be mentioned later.
Note: in films, to avoid confusion in searching online, often the date is placed after the movie title.

There are over 1000 full length silent movies on YouTube at any one given time.  They are in all genres,
from comedy, horror, mystery, drama, war, crime stories, and many more.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

The founder, Robert Pearson, started ParaMind Brainstorming Software in 1992, and in early 1994 was the Seattle area's first Internet consultant advertising to the general public and small businesses.  Since 2011, he has been a contributing member on the Nitrateville Vintage film forum, having started over twenty heavily discussed posts and contributing to many more.  Nitrateville is the forum frequented by silent film scholars, vintage film collectors, film companies, archivists and others in the film industry.

BOUNTIES

The bounties are the usual for new coins such as website design, translations, and social media after the first airdrop of using social media to promote 5 silent films, if people want to use social media to it rather than image hosting.  PM the Development or announce in thread if you want to claim one.

ROADMAP

We have many goals involved in making silent films better known in the world.  One goals is to promote the translation into English of many silent films which currently are only in less popular languages.  Dutch is the language of many of these films since that country saved so many of them.  The original language oddly enough was English, but there are no surviving English copies of these films.

While it is possible that less than Junior member-level accounts may not be duplicate accounts, it's less probable. So, if you have a less than member-level account, please realize this airdrop is indefinite so you have time enough to build up your member status.

What if there are some people, like say older people, who believe in the ideals of your project but are not users of crypto wallets or exchanges.  Can they buy an amount of a coin with paypal to be kept in holding for them just to support the project?
