1  Economy / Digital goods / [WTS] BigBitBets.com for 0.1 BTC on: April 10, 2013, 11:02:47 AM
Long story short, I registered this domain hoping to start a bitcoin betting service. Turns out my state laws heavily frown upon that, and after talking to an attorney I think I'm going to take the safe route with this one.

So I'm looking to sell my domain BigBitBets.com, for 0.1 BTC. I have full ownership over the domain (I can verify this if you'd like) and will transfer it to you.

I've also started writing some software that would have powered the site. If you're interested in acquiring that as well, let me know and I can include it. It's probably not worth much-- it's not finished.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / What's Stopping Someone From Buying From one Exchange, Selling in Another? on: April 03, 2013, 02:22:13 AM
This might be a silly (read: newbish) question, but what's stopping someone from buying a few Bitcoins from BTC-E at 87.849 USD per BTC, and then selling them at MtGox for 118.2 USD per BTC to make a profit?
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Problems Mining: mbps is wrong, no blocks on: April 02, 2013, 11:52:12 PM
I've tried mining with both BitMinter's official client and Diablo Miner. Both say I'm mining at ~27,700 mhash, which I don't think makes sense? I'm running a GeForce GTX 660M (#1) (2 CU, local work size of 256) on a brand new iMac i5 (16 gigs of RAM, does that matter?). I also haven't gotten any blocks yet, and my stats on BitMinter's website all say 0 for my worker.

Anybody ever seen anything like this? Seems very odd.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Leaving a miner running during the day? on: April 02, 2013, 04:25:34 PM
I just got the newest iMac and it's pretty sweet. It came with a GeForce GTX 660M. I know that's nothing compared to the cards serious miners use, but I work from home and my dekstop is always on...

Now my question is, assuming I don't leave the screen on all day (ie; I dim it all the way down), is it safe to leave a miner like BitMinter running in the background? I've heard of people doing this with their iMacs and coming home after leaving it on while they're out, and their computer is frozen up and requires a restart. One person told me they caused serious damage to their computer because it overheated and stayed overheating for several days.
