Economy / Exchanges / Independent Reserve Question
|
on: February 21, 2021, 12:27:03 AM
|
Does anyone here use Independent Reserve in New Zealand? I'm an American, I have a New Zealand Bank account. I'm thinking of selling BTC and depositing to my NZ account, then wiring the money into my US account. I've tested the first transaction in the past and it works. Wiring from NZ to US is a few key strokes. So my bank in the US will see the money coming from myself. I'm thinking it won't be an issue. Thoughts?

Economy / Marketplace / Egifter.com stole my credit card number
|
on: February 14, 2018, 04:37:24 AM
|
I've used egifter.com in the past with crypto, no problem. But last weekend, I tried to buy a gift card using my credit card. Two days later, my account was compromised with 4 fraudulent charges. I caught it super early and credit card company had my back. Nothing lost. One interesting thing about this case. A package was enroute to the fraudsters. I organized my local police and the police in that area to operate a sting on the package. Good thing for the thieves though, the merchant recalled the package through fedex (at my request) so I actually saved them. I should have let the package go through. That would have been interesting.
So moral of the story....
Don't use egifter!!!

I have a ton of metal/aluminum yoyo's I'd sell for bitcoin. A few pics below with brand labeled on top. I don't want to put a ton of work into taking more pics and building a huge thread if no one cares. These can only be appreciated by a true enthusiast. PM me if you're interested. We'll go from there. If I get some interest, I'll fine tune this thread (or make a new one) with more pics/descriptions/prices, etc. I might just do it anyway. Edit: http://s234.photobucket.com/user/joae1975/library/YoYos%20for%20sale

Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / How can I remotely power cycle my modem/router?
|
on: September 22, 2013, 10:50:35 AM
|
Today, while away from home, my miner went idol because my internet connection timed out. There's nothing wrong with my service. My modems need power cycled every so often. Although it's been happening more lately. I need to power cycle my modem and router. Is there such a device that will do this for you if the internet connection goes down? The device would have to power cycle the router first then the modem. Then wait for a successful connection. Any ideas? Thx!

Other / Off-topic / Critical thinking question. (Ecology question)

My friend is in the Army. They asked his "squad" this question, they had to answer with an explanation.
Either your family dies (all extended relatives) or the whole canine race (all dogs) go extinct. Which would you choose and why?
My personal question here is what would happen to the global ecosystem without dogs?
Thx!

I'm traveling to S. Korea in the future. Where can I go to find stores in SK that accept bitcoin? Bars? Clubs? I've never been there before. Any websites in English for this? Thanks!

Bitcoin / Mining support / Solo Mining profitability
|
on: July 15, 2013, 05:40:22 PM

I'm not sure if this was already answered. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
How many Gh/s would you need for Solo Mining to make sense for an individual, at current/future difficulty? And is it practical for a person to do it anymore? How do you calculate this "sensibility" based upon difficulty?
Thanks!
