The problem with a lot of altcoins is the large supply, they have one new cool feature, eventually forked in all similar coins, but i have not yet seen demurrage forked into many coins.
It seems to me that reducing supply at an aggressive rate and then steady would motivate circulation of coins, and probably give a nice steady rise to them. This would work well for coins that are actually useful and used.
Thoughts?

Would there be interest in this?
Right now the terms are: Required Registration Items: A manually signed pdf copy of the Bidder Registration Form A copy of a Government-issued photo ID for the Bidder (or Control Person(s) of Bidder) $200,000 USD deposit sent by wire transfer originating from a bank located within the United States (please provide receipt of transfer)
So that's a 67$ per coin deposit if these deposits are for bids per "block", before the bidding starts. Of course it'll end up much higher...
Series Bitcoins per Block Blocks Available Total Bitcoins Available in Series A 3,000.00000000 9 27,000.00000000 B 2,656.51306529 1 2,656.51306529 Total 29,656.51306529
edit: 67$ figure assuming the 200k/3k will be the starting price edit2: apparently in foreclosure auctions in the states 10% of the valuation should be paid as refundable deposit, so 200k would mean a price valuation of 666$ for 3k blocks.

The latest hashrate estimate on bitcoinwisdom is: 57,527,772 GH/s and: Estimated Next Difficulty: 8,624,181,349 (+7.79%)
on bitcoindifficulty.com the increase for difficulty predicted is: " Next difficulty (estimate): 8,144,959,615 (+2%)"
This is less than half of what we've been getting bimonthly for the past 11 months, and first single digit increase in a year.
The difficulty predictions are estimates but the hashrate is not increasing nonetheless.
What high efficiency ASICs were to be delivered this month ? next month?
This summer?
Is there anyone keeping an updated list of predictions in hashrate to be delivered? (perhaps by following the manufacturers posts?)
They may not be correlated, but how do you think this will affect the value of bitcoin? (more people will dump coins? or hold?)

I purchased the 1BTC service, it promises unrealistic returns (1150 GH/s) .
It's too good to be true.
Don't be fooled as i was. It's a scam.

This is an pre-announcement for a new Scrypt coin, with the following specs and guarantees: - no premine - FCFS, but devs have the good nodes and pools (because..) - 21 000 000 coins - closed source binary wallets filled with viruses and keyloggers (learn to protect yourself....) - Because animal coins seem popular, probably to be renamed slothcoin and based on a sloth - Arrogant team of developers (That seems to be popular with centralized premine coins) - 2-3 hours delay after official launch for actual mining - source may open up after a arguments ensue on the forum about this being a scam etc. Premine may be used for bounties for logos and such. no date set yet, coming week probably, i'm waiting to see if there's any interest. -- careful what you mine New feature ideas: - Low security password logging pool available soon after launch - Exchanges owned by the devs that mysteriously get hacked, claim they didn't use cold storage, disappear soon after. I welcome all ideas to make this the scammiest coin ever, please suggest below.

Anyone tried it?
Some say there's no more security with it than with Debian but.. hey. I know it's more secure out of the box.

I got asked a question about protoshare in PM, and decided i should share with everyone what i understand it to be. neer.g's questions: 1. how do you acquire it Answer: Presently i am mining protoshare, as well as buying it and trading it. the exchanges are: I don't read chinese, but figured it out by clicking on the right sections, this site is ideal for selling protoshares as the price is slightly higher. btc38.comThe bitshare forum: http://bitsharestalk.orgthere is a buy/sell section, careful and watchout for scammers, i was scammed on my first transaction! Lighthouse and favedesu are good escrows. If you trust me i can be your escrow for free as well, but some might consider me n00b and no trust up to you to decide. http://coingrounds.com/loginthis is an exchange that looks extremely sketchy, but i've legit traded over 2 BTC on it. http://bter.com -- suggested by messycoin 2. do you think it will be as big as mastercoin in the near future? It's giving out bounties and talking about mastercoin, but unlike mastercoin is building it's own blockchain. There were a few problems with that at the begining and too many coins were mined early on, so availability dropped pretty low. I think this had a positive effect on the price and since then it's doubled several times to up to 0.023BTC, right now it's dropped, but then again it's only 8:30 in China So yes, in the longer term i think this is a great coin, i really hope they work together with mastercoin to find a solution to a distributed market, as one of the things a lot of dev's complain about concerning mastercoin is that it's bloating bloating the blockchain, and the exodus address makes it centralized. Protoshare is the prototype for bitshare i believe, and bitshare should launch in january, so if that is correct then this marketing strategy of doing a prelaunch could be very profitable to early investors Hope this helped
