2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Hacks a double edged sword on: October 02, 2023, 01:58:11 PM
As much as the crypto ecosystem has experienced several hacks over the years which has seen millions of Bitcoins lost to this,  there is actually some good that comes from them besides losing of coins, for example
  • they help to iron out flawed code from wallets etc
  • keep developers on their toes to implement best security measures
  • hacks expose industries that don't employ the right guy for the job as these self taught  nerds think they are fit for the job
  • hacks expose lack of specialisation
  • hacks expose the lack of seperation of power which is why multisig wallets have the go to wallets today

With hacks exposing some of the greed that comes from not employing the right guy for the job, or CEO's giving themselves so much power such as full access to crypto wallets is the  among the reasons millions of Bitcoins & alts have been lost, so is going back to the basics of running a company suppose to be applied to Bitcoin/crypto companies??

Share your opinions what do you guys think for Bitcoin/crypto run companies and the security landscape..
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / EPL clubs agree to withdraw gambling sponsorships on front of shirts | 2026-27 on: April 15, 2023, 02:41:01 PM
April 13 (Reuters) - Premier League clubs have collectively agreed to stop featuring gambling sponsorships on the front of soccer kits from the 2026-27 season, the English top-flight league said on Thursday.

Eight of the 20 clubs in the league currently have betting companies as shirt sponsors, including Newcastle United (Fun88), West Ham United (Betway) and Everton (Stake.com).

The UK government is expected to publish a white paper - a proposal for future legislation - on gambling regulation.
source: https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/premier-league-withdraw-gambling-sponsorships-shirts-2023-04-13

Saw this the other day on Sky sports news and this got me thinking, won't this affect the crypto adoption process because frankly, these shirt sponsorship deals do help bring in the numbers thats a fact...

And what's the impact of these regulations on our crypto sportsbooks??

share your thoughts...
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Quantum computing threat to bitcoin ? on: April 09, 2023, 01:20:58 PM

Am no expert in this quantum computing field, but from my research the experts say these are not the fastest computers out there but when it comes to structured data and the alike they are king.

With the capabilities of the quantum computer, it's believed it could break the internet, and bitcoin being a digital currency this makes these computers direct threats.

Just looking at some of the headlines around this topic, you can tell that quantum computers are a threat to our digital wellbeing just look at the interesting headlines I  found around the Internet;
"Chinese researchers claim to find way to break encryption using quantum computers"

"Chinese scientists propose a new way to break encryption, changing the world of security"

"Are quantum computers about to break online privacy"

"Quantum computers could Crack today's encrypted messages. That's a problem"

With these headlines and the alike, are Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies safe with Quantum computers just around the corner ??

Is regulation the answer to protect our data from quantum computing or maybe it's time to roll out quantum safe encryption for crypto to survive this era that's coming ?
5  Bitcoin / Mining / Can miners Manipulate network to benefit themselves on: March 23, 2023, 07:27:14 AM

I have been looking at mempool because it has an interesting visual of how blocks are being mined and the alike, but looking at this further this has prompted me to ask whether it's possible for miners to manipulate the network to benefit themselves through artificial incentives.

Why do I ask, well if you look at some of these blocks in the photo above, you can see that some blocks have less than 500 transactions when on other days we have 2000 to 3000 transactions being accommodated in each block, so really how does the mining mechanics work because at the moment we have over 50 thousand transactions in 212 blocks pending and to clear this why arent more transactions being accommodated in each block to clear the clog???

My question: Do miners manipulate the network in their favor to get better incentives?
6  Other / Off-topic / Happy Womens Day to all the womenfolk on BCT on: March 08, 2023, 11:25:50 AM

credit: dogtopia

Hope am not too late for this one, but I believe most of us here observe the International Women's day

and just wanted us to join the world in commemorating this day for the womenfolk.

Remember reading a quote by Margaret Fuller which reads out as “If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.” Applying this message to the world of crypto lets spread the word and help people know financial freedom does exist , lets not keep this knowledge to ourselves.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY 2023

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / In the best interest of investors, Bounties shouldn't be paid in Tokens on: March 02, 2023, 11:32:34 PM
I don't know who needs to hear this but after years of being a bounty hunter and keeping a close eye on how bounties are conducted, it's safe to say most projects make the biggest mistake of paying bounty hunters using their native tokens, why do I say so, well bounty hunters don't share the long term foresight as the project to the point of being a hodler to grow with the company but rather see their bounty payment as a service and will sell the tokens for less to get whatever money they can because they owe nobody anything.Of course, for the project to pay using the tokens is cost cutting but if the project is truly slated for the future, paying using non-tokens is a good signal for a strong project.

Going forward in the best interest of investors and the project itself, hope to see "more" bounties being paid with established coins in this industry.

What do you guys think?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Big money bad for bitcoin in the long run on: January 25, 2023, 11:36:00 PM
As bitcoin continues on its current bullish path, all kinds of people are trying to ride this wave by buying any cheap coins they can get their hands on as they anticipate the next High to come. But the scary part about this is that Big money is also flowing into the crypto economy that will push price to easily register new highs, but this comes at a price, when these whales decide to take out their money.. markets bleed red which is why Big money is not good if volatility is to be controlled. In the long run Bitcoin is better off without the Big money, otherwise this becomes like a pyramid scheme always leaving the last man standing with empty pockets as the first guy to make a move gets all the accumulated $$$$.

What's the community's take on this?
9  Economy / Reputation / Campaign managers acting as Escrow on: January 09, 2023, 05:20:52 PM
Many of the times, signature campaigns , contests and any other service are usually asked to escrow funds to guarantee payment after a service is completed by its participants to avoid companies from not honoring their dues, but what happens in an instance of funds being escrowed and the escrow urgent losses the money Huh It's not the first time seeing a campaign manager losing funds on the forum..the latest being [banned mixer] | Bitcoin Mixer | Signature Campaign in less than 4hrs funds gone($4.2k)...

Should an escrow be liable for any loss of such funds and get tagged till such a repayment is done?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin, Privacy, Mixers on: January 03, 2023, 02:43:05 PM
One of the best things that happened to our financial well being is getting to use & have bitcoin plus other cryptos of course, and the privilege  of some privacy as we spend and receive without giving out personal information thanks to its pseudo nature . But one business industry that has built its success around this are mixers, how do these guys really make their money without really advertising aggressively to increase their profit margins and who are the most likely clients to this business... And lastly in terms of protecting a user's footprints, can a domain host give (sell) out this information to third parties ?

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / War of exchanges on: November 11, 2022, 05:17:22 PM

I found this email strange from Whitebit exchange which required anybody holding Bnb on the exchange to withdraw it by the 17th of November , could this be payback to Binance for not bailing out FTX exchange when it had the capacity or is something else going on here? Out of curiosity what leads to the removal of a coin from being listed on the exchange besides bad performance or little to no liquidity??

**if i posted in the wrong thread ,would appreciate moving it**
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / El Salvador FUD on the socials on: November 10, 2022, 10:14:37 AM
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, now imagine seeing such a tweet on Twitter that read out "El Salvador's bitcoin holdings were on FTX" ,and in case you missed the news on FTX...this is an exchange going under the bus following a potential bankruptcy after a cash shortage of ~$8billion ..And going back to the picture it shows a -100% as they claim El Salvador was holding its coins there which means everything could be lost.

Looking at the likes and potential impressions generated by such a tweet whats the impact of such a tweet? Can it be easily brushed off as a joke? Will El Salvador make an official statement on this to stop the FUD?
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do online casinos disadvantage some locations from winning big on: November 01, 2022, 09:16:06 AM
You know how casinos have set certain slots to only pay a certain amount to a winner, it it also possible that casinos are using an algorithm to limit how much it can payout for players coming from certain locations to avoid being dragged into legal disputes if a player is paid big money and the local authorities want to know the source and the alike?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Burning Coins new Marketing Ploy on: October 31, 2022, 03:04:06 AM
Today's coins on the market are nothing more than some get rich quick scheme, and knowing very well that People are on the lookout for best performing crypto coins on the market, several projects have resorted to burning to pump prices artificially to paint a rosy picture.

Is Burning the ultimate solution to get prices going up for our coins out there? And why is this mostly done by a certain niche of coins like xxxxx finance, xxxx inu etc

Is marketing crypto coins the good old fashioned way obsolete?

Wonder what would happen if dogecoin started burning Coins with its huge support base already on standby....

16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is Using a Stop loss "Good" or "Bad" on: April 11, 2022, 11:16:33 AM
I have traded and analyzed several charts and I have come to a conclusion that trading with a stop loss is the easiest way to lose money and not a safety net because if your analysis is correct what happens most of the times is markets go for the stop losses which takes you out of the market and price turns to your predicted direction after the stop hunt which many consider as market manipulations.

So is using a stop loss good or bad?

Do we have traders that trade without them, if yes what's your win ratio using this strategy?
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Why is the "Draw No Bet" not found on most sportsbook on: April 01, 2022, 06:22:51 AM
Having played on several sportsbook platform's over the years both IRL and online,  I have noticed that most of these bookies
today don't have the " draw no bet" market. What could be their reasons for not giving us this market? Could it be that it's a less money generating market for most sportsbooks out there?

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Nearly 90% of all Bitcoin will have been mined in about one week. on: December 06, 2021, 06:15:18 AM

Just saw this tweet and am now just wondering why aren't the laws of supply and demand kicking in if 90% of the bitcoins are almost mined ?

Shouldn't the bitcoin markets be bullish by now as demand would be high by now and supply is reaching a point where it can no longer grow?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Its Official SHIB x Newegg on: November 26, 2021, 10:20:03 PM
Just saw this tweet posted by both official twitter handles of shiba inu and Newegg of a potential partnership . Could this be the partnership that could turn tables around and bring more crypto investors on board? Just so you know, Shiba is currently the popular coin on twitter as it stands and Newegg among the biggest ecommerce platforms will this benefit cryptos in general?

https://twitter.com/Shibtoken/status/1464347621066100741

What do you think, is this a bullish or bearish partnership?
