If you are planning on mining Bitcoins/Litecoins/etc, you don't need to do anything. The OS is installed and I already have found the optimal mining settings to pull approximately 730KH/s per card (Scrypt Hashing). Performance is better if you have fans on the units to keep things cooler, as per the pictures. I have also been using them to mine ScryptJane coins, namely UTC. They work VERY well for that too.

So, I'd like to set up an FTC pool because I have a few servers lying around that I can set up as a cluster with redundant ISPs, however, I am not entirely sure how to go about it. For starters, I do like the look of the PPLNS pools that have become very popular; well, that script in particular (mmcFE: https://github.com/chargr/mmcFE-litecoin).

Anyways, lets say for all intensive purposes I was only going to set this up on one server. What OS should I use? Ubuntu Server? Windows Server? (I do like WS) And then what would be the general steps to take after that? I haven't been able to find a nicely outlined tutorial and for the sake of saving time, I figured I'd ask quick while I do some research on my own. What modifications need to be made to support FTC (or any other scrypt coin, ie, CNC)?

Essentially, I am looking for somebody to kind of walk me through the general process. I hate to resort to this, but I had attempted to install a pool on one of my CentOS boxes with cPanel  but I ran into several issues with the SQL import and syntax errors. The SQL looked fine and even after trying to manually reconstruct the tables, I could not get it to function properly.

So, I just built this rig yesterday and after some tweaking, I've gotten it to work stable at the following:

But that is only yielding around 560KHs per card and I know they can produce more. I have 4 XFX Double D Black Edition 7970s.

Win 7 x64 Enterprise. Drivers are 13.3.

I have tried in reaper with similar settings but it mines at a 560KHs average too.

The good thing is there are 0 HW errors and the WU ratio is .93.

Any ideas on how I could get these babies past 600? 650? 700? Increasing the Intensity lowers the hash-rate significantly.

Well, I have a Gigabyte Radeon 7950 on a fresh W7 Ent 64bit install, 13.1 drivers, GUIMiner Scrypt. Seems normal, right? Well, here's the problem.

I can only mine on the 7950 Low Usage setting.

I can increase the intensity but IF I increase the thread concurrency, it will not connect. This occurs for both CGMiner and Reaper. But for reaper, increasing the intensity above 13 causes mostly stale shares.

I still get around 350 Khs, but I should be getting much more obviously. Anybody else ever experience this? I have no ideas what to do.

Essentially, if I do not mine on low usage, it will not connect which makes no sense.

So, from what I understand about P2Pool is that if I create a pool, it will act as a node and consequently work with the other nodes when mining, correct? As such, I'd like to set up an LTC P2Pool. From what I have found, this seems appropriate, but for Bitcoins:

[Now, here is where it gets interesting]

First off, hello world! Name is John and I've just gotten into mining LTC. I had known about crypto-currencies for a while, but kind of dropped the ball on initial investments--especially with BTC (I had considered buying a $1000 worth when they were sitting at $1).

Anyways, unfortunate events aside, I have some questions and just some general inquiries I'd like to get out there. For starters, I am mining right now with 1 x Radeon 7950 which gets me about 550Khs. On top of that, I have 4 HP Proliant DL servers CPU Mining which gives me about another 100Khs. Now, here is where it gets interesting. I have access to around 50 desktops (work) but I have them sitting behind a Forefront TMG proxy/firewall server via port 8080 set in IE. For some reason though, I can't get those units to connect out, even if I disable the firewall and allow ALL traffic through. I know the KHs won't be much, but some of the units have dedicated GPUs and I could probably generate an additional 100-200KHs, total. Any ideas for mining behind a proxy? And trust me, I have looked and tried MANY things. From setting the http_proxy in cmd, to rerouting ports. I couldn't even connect to a pool at port 80 (p2pool.org). So, thoughts?

Moreover, I have been examining and testing out different pools and I feel like I am getting screwed. For example, coinotron.com and p2pool.org. I have been using both and coinotron rarely reports the numbers I see via CGminer and p2pool.org rarely seems to send me transactions (and it now appears to be down). I have looked over the comparison charts, but, I'd like to hear some recommendations, if possible. Like everybody here, I'd like to maximize profit (electricity is not an issue). For reference, the 7950's stats are below. Also, for that particular run, I can see that 100% of coinotron's requests were denied. But for p2pool, I only generated .1, which is definitely low.

And one odd thing I noticed with CGminer (yes, I know reaper is better for 7 series )--if I directly launch cgminer and input the paramters, it yields no HW errors BUT, if I cd to the directory and launch it like this:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://198.23.129.176:80 -u LRbLqovmDU4qaQuQuiXgrX1Q5EAoG3DuRE -p p2pool.org --scrypt

And then increase the intensity of the GPU, I get thousands of HW errors but a much higher accepted vs rejected. I also get a steady hashrate of 580-600. I am using the beta catalyst drivers, for reference. Any ideas?

Now, onto GPU settings. I understand there are many different ideas for the proper GPU settings. Honestly, at 550-600 KHs, I think for one 7950, that's good. Correct me if I am wrong. However, I do alwasy think there is room for improvement. So, for my Gigabyte 7950, any thoughts? I have read over some threads and some people recommended undervolting,  overclocking, auto gpu/fan, etc. The above output is using auto-gpu/fan and intensity 16. For some reason, 17+ auto jumped to 20 and killed performance. Any ideas? I have yet to give reaper a shot with a properly functioning pool...

Lastly, for now, I'd like to discuss a rig, and remember, electricity is not a factor here. I'll be placing this in my server room at work.
