41  Economy / Services / x2 Bitcoin Logos for sale @ 0.5BTC each on: November 12, 2013, 11:52:11 PM
I have created a couple of Bitcoin logos and I would like to sell both to any businesses or Bitcoin related services that would like to own a new logo. These logos will be sent as vector and bitmap format files and I can also make some (small) adjustments if necessary. I can also adapt the logos to a specific colour scheme to suit any existing branding. Both of the logos are available for 0.5BTC each and I will provide proof copies to serious buyers.

I can also design other visual elements from 3D to animated pieces and I have worked for Bitcoin clients creating T-Shirts, logos as well as my own services too.

42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Newbie UX (User Experience) on: November 12, 2013, 12:30:29 PM
I was reading the thread about the size on the Blockchain and as I write this one of my old laptops is downloading the Blockchain for the first time, from around "200 weeks behind". This has got got me thinking about the user experience of Bitcoin and how newbies might react to all the potential steps necessary to getting their first BTC. In this instance I refer to a newbie as a user without prior knowledge, or informed help/encouragement from a friend already active in the Bitcoin community. This is a user who has just stumbled upon Bitcoin and pretty much sees it like some kind of digital software transaction thingy.

This might sound like a strange idea but perhaps it would be interesting to get some accounts of complete newbies trying to figure out Bitcoin for the first time? Video would be a great for instance, to see where the user gets confused, where they get stuck and potentially why they never end up using Bitcoin. If you were to ask your newb parents or friend to setup Bitcoin, without helping or encouraging them how far would they get? I suspect many at some point would drop off, not even completing the blockchain download and others giving up at the exchanges. Obviously there are different types of wallet and ways to get Bitcoin but what is most important is streamlining the more secure and efficient tools/services relevant to new users.

I actually "dropped off" almost a year ago myself, and like many other software programs I have downloaded I never really bothered using it in the end. Back then Bitcoin was just a program on my HDD to me so perhaps Bitcoin could gain more traction if developers and designers made greater efforts to prevent this?

43  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Learning to code for crytocurrency? on: November 12, 2013, 07:44:19 AM
Yesterday I decided to try out Linux for the fist time, I really like the OS and I also feel spurred on to to learn some programming skills which is one area that holds my projects back. I have been searching around in various crypto related source files but I am finding it difficult to pin point what programming language is actually being used in most cases?

So what language would you recommend for a new programmer interested in cryto-currency, which is also most relevant to future development as HTML5 is for web? Also perhaps you could recommend some learning resources you found useful learning? Thanks.
44  Bitcoin / Project Development / HumbleIdea - Crowd Funding for Bitcoin [Beta] on: November 10, 2013, 05:01:55 PM
Hello everyone, I have launched a new crowd funding service called "Humble Idea". The aim is to cater to the Bitcoin and the crypto-currency community although projects in any niche areas are welcome. The site is already partially setup although projects cannot yet receive backing. The aim is to setup the Bitcoin payment system very soon which will allow backers to help contribute funding to projects using Bitcoin, until then I will be running the testing FIAT payment gateway. I am happy to just run a standard FIAT/PayPal system but I figured you guys/girls would prefer the Bitcoin option?  Grin

At the moment I would like to offer some positions for beta testing. Although you won’t yet be able to receive funding this is a great opportunity to get in early with a free account. Once the system is fully setup your project will then go live. If you would like to help test then please visit the site and click on "create" and you will be able to list your project for review. I have already set up a few basic sample(dummy) projects although ideally a good mix of quality image, video and text would be ideal to showcase your "idea". I will set up some guidelines and the FAQ over the next few days. Please PM me, comment below or contact me via the site if you have any questions or feedback.

45  Other / Meta / Unable to change my avatar on: November 07, 2013, 09:26:26 PM
For some reason I am not able to change my avatar, I have tried numerous times over the last few month and now I am getting a little tired of it. I have tried all the basics such as different image formats, sizes and deleting cookies etc. So any idea how to fix this?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alt-Coin without having to mine using CPU/GPU/ASIC Possible? on: October 26, 2013, 01:55:16 PM
I would like to find out if it is possible to create an alt-coin that uses an alternative method to mining? Perhaps a coin that is time based or one that is mined in relation to a users activities. Mining to me seems a like a waste of energy so I would like to get an idea of the potential possibilities. Also out of interest where could I go to find a alt-coin developer? I realize there are a few tutorials about but I would rather find someone who knows what they are doing.  Grin
47  Economy / Services / Joint Venture with Developers on: October 26, 2013, 10:45:04 AM
Over the last few months I have been brainstorming lots of potential ideas for Bitcoin related startups. As a designer I have lots of experience with branding, designing websites and so on, even creating physical merchandise.

I am curious if any developers would like to work with me on a Bitcoin related project, most likely something web based using the WordPress CMS as I have a lot of useful premium tools for the CMS. My coding knowledge is limited to HTML and CSS so ideally someone proficient enough in coding languages would be great. I have a empty forum which could function as a platform to share ideas and develop plans for projects.

PM me if you would like to find out more about some of my ideas and if you have your own then feel free to share them...

48  Economy / Speculation / $10 VS. $10,000 - What Say You? on: October 24, 2013, 05:53:33 PM
I would like to find out which of the two prices you think is most likely to happen (first) in the future. Obviously this is purely out of interest just to find out which of the two extremes the majority are leaning towards. Also please don't make up random prices like "I think it will reach $250,000 Cheesy!", this is all about which you feel is most likely to happen first not what it could ultimately reach.

Two Options:
$10 per Bitcoin
$1000 per Bitcoin
$10,000 per Bitcoin
49  Economy / Goods / WTS Golden Airplane - Bitcointalk Exclusive 50BTC on: October 22, 2013, 04:04:37 PM

That's right, this luxurious golden airplane is available for purchase exclusively on Bitcointalk.org. The plane is fully functional and it can fly fairly long distances without any issues, well I should mention that former models have proven not very suitable for rain conditions. I could go into all the specs of this amazing airplane but I will just let the picture speak for itself. You can make any offer but I am looking for around 50 BTC, the plane can be flown to you by mail and shipping in the UK is free. Thanks. Smiley
50  Bitcoin / Project Development / Physical Bitcoin/Crypto Magazine (Good or Bad idea?) on: October 20, 2013, 05:13:14 PM
Today the thought popped into my mind to create a physical magazine, either for Bitcoin or perhaps a more general crypto-currency related mag. I realize phsyical copy is getting a bit old-school now days however I still purchase physical magazines and books, I think physical copies are also a great way to spread the word. An E-Book / dedicated website could also accompany the magazine. As a graphic designer I have experience publishing magazines, branding and even web design so I have all the skills necessary to create the visuals and format the content. One slight issue is that I am unfortunately a terrible writer. Cheesy

This leads me to the second point, finding writers would be critical to the success of the magazine. Initially the articles could be composed of blog posts and articles that authors want to share on the magazine, in return they would get the added exposure. I think an unconventional magazine would be the best approach, Bitcoin is innovative and anti establishment to a degree so the magazine could reflect those principles.

Ideas:
  • Promote Bitcoin related business
  • Discus recent events
  • Perhaps add some informed speculation
  • Added exposure to potential investment oppurtunites
  • Perhaps even some ethical art (antipropaganda etc...)
  • Dedicate pages to support Bitcoin accepting charitiy
  • Allow advertising goods/services

Added Extras:
  • Posters
  • Stickers
  • Coupons

Dedicated Altcoin:
Another interesting idea would be to create a new altcoin especially for the magazine and its users. Some copies could include large amounts as a bonus, obviously these wont be in competition with Bitcoin but they could be redeemable for products or services.

What do you think?
I would appreciate genuine opinions on this. What kind of content would interest you? Would you buy a Bitcoin/Crypto magazine? How much would you expect to pay? If there is enough positive feedback I could create a test copy, providing I get enough writers on board. I think initially this would be a monthly magazine, it depends how much content we get and of course if Bitcoin users actually want a physical copy mag.

Note: This is just a quick concept cover, obviously headlines and more details would go into the final magazine.
51  Economy / Goods / Bitcoin Wax Seal Stamp on: October 20, 2013, 01:16:49 PM

Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago I ordered a custom "INK" wax seal stamp for my LevitatedINK apparel label. I thought the idea was original and I have to say using these wax seals are great fun. Today I thought to myself "these would be great for Bitcoin", so why not share this epicness with the forums.

Now I could have ordered a few and sold them onto you but honestly you would save money just ordering for yourself cutting me out as a middle man. If however you want to buy with Bitcoin, and you would like custom options like the "Bitcoin Logo" then I am happy to send them out to you myself. I have created some options below although the choices might be a little overwhelming, feel free to specify exactly what you are after and I will let you know the best option. I have priced in FIAT to account for the potential volatility of Bitcoins value at the moment.  Cheesy

52  Bitcoin / Project Development / BTCSense UK Bitcoin Exchange - Need Advice... on: October 11, 2013, 01:58:02 PM
A few months back I created a small UK Bitcoin Exchange/Store called BTCSense, a service built for selling/buying Bitcoins in the UK. I have already tested the manual transaction process which currently only supports bank transfers and the process runs smoothly. Ideally I would prefer an automated system, at the moment transactions will be pending until I am online and able to send out the BTC. Anyway I wanted to get some thoughts on the development of BTCSense, the site has been relatively dormant the last few months despite still getting SEO traffic and member sign ups which is promising.

These are the main issues at the moment:
- Updating the Bitcoin prices. At the moment I have to manually update the prices, I would rather the prices update in real time with a small profit % added.
- At the moment my Bitcoin funds are very limited, so only smaller transactions are possible.
- I am also concerned about the legal side of things, I suspect a small service like BTCSense would not attract much attention initially but seeing established exchanges get swatted like flies does not fill me with hope.

Despite those issues, I don't like abandoning projects so I want to ask you for your thoughts? I think a lot of those issues could be sorted if some experienced partners jumped on board to help in certain areas. As a designer my skills are focused more towards branding, web design and so on. I should also add that I redesigned the entire site last night, I think the service looks great but there are some missing components that I would like to work on. Thanks for reading and all feedback/suggestions are welcome.

53  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin Style Google Glass on: October 09, 2013, 05:41:10 PM
I was thinking about augmented reality technology such as Google Glass and also the Occulus Rift and I found this image.

Seriously though, what if we could create a Bitcoin glass/rift type device. It is possible to have custom tablets built now days so why not something similar(without breaching patents) to the tech mentioned. I can imagine simply scanning items and purchasing with Bitcoin stored in the device or on a network, bypassing checkouts, paying for transport, gas and so on. This would surely catapult Bitcoin into a mainstream technology.

Side note: If anyone decides they want to run with this then keep me in the loop, I specialize in branding, 3D, web design, etc so providing some techy's and investors are game this might be a worthwhile project.  Wink
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alt-coin development costs? on: October 09, 2013, 04:47:03 PM
I am curious how much it would cost to have a developer build a custom spec alt-coin? I appreciate there are varying degrees of customization, so I will list two examples of potential ideas:
1) Basic clone with re-branding and custom specs
2} Heavy modifications, for example added features to the wallet

I appreciate alt-coins have a relatively bad rep with all the pre-mining and so on, however as a big fan of Bitcoin and crypto I feel this is a project I might like to take on next.  I have not worked out any specific specs for an alt-coin just yet, and I am wondering about the costs and potential time it might take to develop such a project from a basic to complex level. Building brands, websites and marketing is something I enjoy and I like to think my approach to developing an alt-coin could perhaps result in a decent coin worthy of use by merchants and so on.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How long does the Bitcoin-QT cleint take to sync for newbies? on: September 15, 2013, 10:54:57 AM
I was wondering how long the standard Bitcoin-QT client takes to sync roughly? Lets say on a 3mb connection which is about average in global terms, if running 24/7 how long do you think it would take the user to fully sync? I am curious as I have not fired up the client in a few days and the syncing is taking ages. I wonder how long the Bitcoin-QT client must take for newbies, back when I first downloaded the client it take a few days and this was a while back. Considering most people now days don't like waiting am I right to assume that online wallets are more popular for Bitcoin users just starting out too?
56  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin Innovators Forum - Does your project or store accept Bitcoin? on: September 03, 2013, 08:59:08 PM
Hey, I own a group on Google+ called Bitcoin Innovators, we are one of the largest Bitcoin communities on G+ and constantly growing. We also have a website which I decided to rebuilt from scratch today. Now the site have been transformed into a forum, originally the site was more of a social network but I wasn't happy with how slow the system was. I have created this thread as we have a fresh new "Bitcoin Accepted" and "Projects" section. If you are working on a project or already have a Bitcoin related store you can visit us and post some info and link to your Bitcoin site, plus creating a post or two might help us.

I expect over the next few weeks the members who were previously registered will start to join again as I invite them, plus I will be doing some paid advertising too to help bring in some traffic so this is a great time to add your services. Please join us and contribute if you like the look, we are obviously short on posts at the moment so the more that join us the better.  Tongue

57  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How can I make prices update with BTC price? [Woocommerce + Wordpress] on: September 02, 2013, 09:51:01 PM
Hi, a few months back I was working on BTCSense which is a small UK exchange for Bitcoin. Development ground to a halt partially due to the fact I was low on funds so I could only process small orders. However the main annoyance was having to manually update prices to match the current Bitcoin price. I am using Woocommerce WP system and I am hoping you guys can help me with an automated solution that will help me keep the pricess say +100.5%? I want all of the products (Bitcoins) to change in sync with a reliable source for the weighted average.

If I can set this up this will allow me to offer fairer prices, also if you like the site and are interested in working with me in some capacity that would be great. http://btcsense.co.uk/ (Pages are being updated)

58  Other / Off-topic / ShotgunGaming - Looking for Gameplay, Articles, Reviews & Guest Posts on: August 28, 2013, 09:10:40 PM
Hey people, I have recently started up a gaming site that is focused on next-gen gaming, this includes Playstation 4, XBox One and PC gaming. I wanted to post this as I am currently looking for gamers interested in creating guest posts. As a guest post author you can write articles, share your gameplay videos and basically create anything you wish gaming related. Authors can also share social profiles, a link to your personal page and why not also a Bitcoin address for donations. I do have some paid advertising campaigns planned and currently active so despite being a totally new site there will always be a stream of traffic which I hope to grow into a great gaming community, today 5000 visitors checked out the site for the first time.

Please note that at the moment our site is composed mostly of rubbish online games, that is mainly filler content which we will replace with good articles and content over time. Also as a side note, if you would like to advertise with us contact me, there are lots of banner spaces available. If ShotgunGaming does start to turn a profit I will definitely give back to the guest authors! Check us out, even if none of the above interests you, play some of the crappy games lol. Smiley

59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Internet Marketing [Paid Advertising] with Bitcoin? on: August 22, 2013, 06:20:29 PM
At the moment I have lots of Bitcoins however I am finding it very difficult to sell them (in the UK) when I need to which is becoming very inconvenient. I want to start a paid advertising campaign and I was wondering if there are any ad networks available that will accept Bitcoin as a payment method? I am also interested in Solo Ads so any sellers with a responsive list in the Internet Marketing niche can also get back to me with some info. Ad.Fly should start accepting Bitcoin, I would use there services often.  Grin

I plan on promoting Marketutopia.com which is a new Marketing platform with lots of cool stuff coming soon. If you have an affiliate product you would like to sell, I can also list it for free. Smiley
