1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Best places in SE Asia to spend Bitcoin? on: July 07, 2017, 12:25:37 PM
I wanna make a short trip to a SE Asian country, and would love to spend Bitcoin in hotels, bars and shops etc.

My current choice of places is:

Hong Kong
Singapore
Malaysia
Thailand
Indonesia
Phillipines

Myanmar or Cambodia (I don't think I'll be able to spend many bitcoins in these two places)

It would be especially great if I could pay for the whole trip with Bitcoin, including flights/hotel/bar/restaurants...

Where would be the best place to go?
2  Local / 中文 (Chinese) / 在香港哪里可以买比特币? (Where to spend Bitcoin in Hong Kong?) on: July 06, 2017, 11:08:38 AM
Hello, sorry I don't speak Chinese.

I would like to know if there is anywhere to spend Bitcoin in Hong Kong - I am visiting for a few days and am looking for bars, restaurants and hotels that accept Bitcoin.

I found this website: https://blog.cubits.com/how-to-spend-bitcoin-in-hong-kong/ which mentions a hotel (9 Boutique Hotel) and a bar (Bit Point Bar), but both websites are dead.

Are there any other places I should know about?

Thank you, I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.
3  Other / Off-topic / Post your favourite G-Shocks on: June 06, 2017, 09:00:18 PM
Seen a few posts about watches, and I think G-Shocks are the daddies. Get stuffed with your automatic tourbillons and skeleton see-through backs... Give me a G-Shock baby, quartz movement all the way!

What are your favourite G-Shocks, whether you own them or not? Post pictures.

I am currently rocking a GW-A1100 most of the time.

I want to get a GXW-56 in army green:

Also would love a GWFD1000B-1, new Frogman G-Shock...

4  Other / Off-topic / Original Ghost in the Shell showing in cinemas in the USA and UK! on: January 21, 2017, 01:51:29 PM
The original 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie is showing in hundreds of cinemas across the UK on the 25th of January, and the USA on February the 7th and 8th!

I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen the original anime film to watch it on the big screen, before the remake releases. It is a masterpiece of animated film and inspired many more recent films such as The Matrix. One of my favourite anime films, it's gonna be a blast to watch it in a cinema!

I don't normally do this but I got drunk and made some hip hop. I don't know why it has such bad language, I blame the rum. The bass is very deep so use headphones or a good sound system.

Here are the lyrics...

Fuck Net neutrality, motherfucking boys trying to knock out, all the small game, script kiddies Bullshit nigga.

Cunts need a lesson taught, mandems need to mash up dem fucking keys/VPN TOR Tails, and the darknet,

TOR is your friend and you won't get fucking far wit'out it.

You ain't got a VPN nigga, you fuckin stuffed, better plan ya endgame, play ya time,

to not get fucking bummed at the end-of-the death row line.

Fuckin clearnet for bitches that get cuffed.
Fucking dark net for niggas and real good stuff, Smash fucking psyches,

There's even madder shit out there if ya wanna get lean..

Well i say lean, but I mean you'll lose your mean hold of your mind, nigga there's some shit that will implode your ego, so don't let that compound deplete your mind.

I  got no time for bloated ego niggas, that's the deal, deal wit it, if you won't, reel bitch from my samurai steel,

I'll happily kill you with it, fucking two fifty folds of metal fucking feel that shit.

Slash the shit out ya motherfucking heels with it, Achilles tendon fucking cleaved innit.

Fall on your face like you heaved innit, like a pussy that can't handle their weed limit.

6  Economy / Economics / Need help buying stocks/shares - what are some good online brokers? on: December 18, 2016, 03:38:06 PM
I am interested in spending a (relatively) small amount of money on some stocks and shares from a few companies. In the region of $500-$2000 worth.

Can anyone suggest a good broker that deals in smaller amounts of capital like this, without charging too much commission?

The main company I am interested in purchasing shares in is GW Pharma (GWPH), I think they may do quite well in the next few years.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Selling mint condition G-Shock watches for XMR on: September 06, 2016, 09:35:35 PM
I was a collector of G-Shocks but I'm leaving the country soon so I'm trying to sell the ones I don't wear. They were all bought new and been worn a couple of times, but all are mint condition with no scratches or wear whatsoever. 100% genuine.

I will post an imgur link here incase the photos do not embed: http://imgur.com/a/LM43P

First we have a new GB-6900B-1ER Bluetooth Smartwatch, with box, tin, manual and full documentation/warranty. Bought new on 21st Aug 2016 ( I will include corresponding invoice with date), warranty unregistered. RRP is £160, but you can get them for a bit less if you're lucky. Warranty can be registered to recieve standard 1 year guarantee.

Selling for 15 XMR.

Next we have a DW-6900AC-2DR, Blue x Red series. Tin, manual, warranty docs marked "Dubai 20/12/2014", so warranty is probably expired but as anyone knows G-shocks never die. Ever.

Selling for 10 XMR.

Last we have a real beauty, the Limited Edition GD-X6900MH-1ER Maharishi x G-Shock "Lunar Bonsai". This is a seriously sick looking G-Shock with the Maharishi lunar camo pattern and a reverse display, It's a chunkier, more aggressive version of the standard DW-6900, also has extra features over the DW-6900 such as World Time and Auto Light Switch (light comes on automatically when you tilt your wrist). I seem to have misplaced the manual/other docs, but it includes tag and tin (which is also adorned with the Lunar Bonsai camo). Manual is of course available online.

Selling for 25 XMR

There is some dust visible in some of the photos, especially because I've taken extreme macro close-ups with flash used on some. I will give the watches a thorough clean before posting - rest assured they will look 100% mint condition.

I am open to reasonable offers, including offers for the job lot. Post here or PM me if you want any more photos, of the sides or backs of the watches for example.

Perfectly happy to use escrow with a trusted member here, I will be posting recorded/signed for delivery to avoid scams - I am based in the UK and would include UK shipping free of charge, please PM me in regards to international shipping - I would need to get a quote and buyer would pay shipping.
8  Other / Off-topic / What movies are you looking forward to? on: July 12, 2016, 11:31:44 PM
I can't wait to see the remake of "Ghost in the Shell", I really hope they don't fuck it up...

The cast looks good, Scarlett as Major Kusanagi (and 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano as Chief Aramaki!!)

Another film I'm looking forward to is (finally) the first film of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, "The Gunslinger".

Great casting again, Idris Elba as the gunslinger, and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black/Randall Flagg etc. This series could be epic.
9  Economy / Speculation / Calm before the storm? on: July 11, 2016, 11:44:55 PM
Things seem eerily quiet. It's a Mexican standoff right now, no-one wants to pull the trigger.

If you look at 3 month charts, there's one hell of a bullish pennant that's formed. I think there's a good chance we'll see a breakout from here, seems to be strong resistance at the current price, it's just no-one wants to be the first to start buying...

>$800 within a week or 2 is my prediction.
10  Other / Off-topic / The arthouse/cult/classic Movie Thread! on: June 18, 2016, 08:51:23 PM
In this thread we will post and discuss really interesting and original films! They can be old or new, english or foreign, animated or live action, scary, gruesome or sentimental, but above all they should be interesting. eg. anyone posting anything by Michael Bay results in the banhammer.

I recently watched an excellent film directed by Alfred Hitchcock - "Rear Window"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047396/

Although this film was released in 1954, it still holds its own today. The basic premise is that the main character, a photographer, is wheelchair-bound after an accident and can't leave the house. To quell his boredom he begins spying on his neighbours from the rear window of his house. What starts as a way to pass the time, becomes an obsession as he starts to believe that one of his neighbours may be a murderer.

There are some interesting themes going on in this film, it portrays the innate human attraction of voyeurism to the viewer, and as the story unfolds you really feel as though you are in the main character's shoes and trying to piece together a murder plot. The supporting characters that we see from the rear window are all interesting and funny in their own right, and represent (I believe) the whole spectrum of life from young to old, single to married, to divorced or alone. Highly recommended, this is my favourite Hitchcock film that I've seen so far.

Another film that I watched recently, for the 2nd time, was a French film called "La Haine" (Hate), directed by Mathieu Kassovitz and released in 1995.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113247/

Filmed in black and white, it depicts a day in the life of a group of friends (one jewish, one black and one arab) living in a Paris ghetto, after a riot. The cinematography and editing in this film is incredible, and the whole feel of the film portrays the anger of the characters and is powerful stuff and exciting to watch. The acting is stunning, especially Vincent Cassel's part (who many may recognize from some Hollywood films). The film has moments of humour, an interesting plot and a great soundtrack with some raw french hip-hop, and the odd bit of electro and reggae. Especially pertinent in today's political climate, La Haine is a masterpiece and is a must see IMO.
11  Economy / Economics / Forex/stock trading speculation for upcoming BREXIT vote? on: May 31, 2016, 07:14:28 PM
So I've been thinking about dabbling in some trading before/during the Brexit vote, the markets are going to be volatile.

Other than a likely drop in Sterling if the Leave campaign emerges strongly, anyone got any other tips/tactics they're willing to share?

I'm sure there are certain company stocks that could be bought/shorted both in the run up and in the days after the vote, depending on the result. Post your trading speculation here, even if you're not actually trading you can still bask in the glory of a correct prediction!
12  Other / Politics & Society / Climate change taxes on: May 14, 2015, 03:55:43 PM
Most climate change skeptics say the main reason for the ideology is for governments to claim more in taxes. I have two questions:

A. Are there any taxes that apply to individuals? I have only found information about taxes that apply to businesses, eg. UK Climate Change Levy

B. Why would TPTB need to create/take advantage of a fraudulent climate change ideology to claim more taxes? Couldn't they just claim this money by increasing traditional taxes?

I would have thought that increasing traditional taxes would result in more tax income -  there would be no opportunity for businesses to decrease the tax they pay by using more renewable energy, and there would be no chance of scaring away big oil companies, and the subsequent revenue they bring into the economy.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Any European ski resorts with businesses that accept Bitcoin? on: February 24, 2015, 10:56:43 PM
I wanna go snowboarding in Europe, it would be cool to go somewhere where I could use bitcoin. I've had a little search on coinmap but no joy as yet...

I'm not bothered about paying for the flights/hotels/lift pass in BTC (even though that would be sweet), I'm thinking more like bars/shops/clubs/restaurants etc.

cheers!

14  Other / Off-topic / "WarSting" - A WiFi scanning hobbit sword (with instructions) on: December 31, 2014, 03:29:41 PM
To celebrate the launch of the new Hobbit flick, we made a version of Sting that turns blue near unsecured Wi-Fi networks. And when you slash the sword, Sting will jump on the network, and publish a message: "{YOUR WI-FI NETWORK} has been vanquished!"

http://blog.spark.io/2014/12/17/warsting-a-wifi-scanning-sword-for-hobbits/

This is fun, but how about a version of this that incorporates aircrack-ng/reaver-wps to attack secured networks, maybe using a built-in raspberry pi? Cue hordes of script-kiddies creeping round neighborhoods at night looking shady and swinging glowing swords... "Officer, we're LARPing honestly!"
15  Other / Politics & Society / Consciousness and Quantum Physics on: November 11, 2014, 02:11:35 PM
Some people claim that consciousness is a product of quantum phenomena. For example, scientists like Robert Lanza and his Biocentrism Theory, and the (IMO less convincing) "new age guru" (pseudoscientist?) Deepak Chopra with his idea that quantum entanglement creates consciousness.

While these seemingly philosophical ideas make for very interesting reading, they seem to be speculations that are profoundly unscientific, and therefore shouldn't be described as scientific theories.

They tend to rely on misinterpretations of quantum phenomena, eg using the double-slit experiment and the "Observer Effect" to try and prove that conscious beings can influence quantum effects in a specific way (when in fact the collapse of the wave-function in the double-slit experiment is not dependent on the act of observing, it is due to the necessity of interacting photons with other particles so they can be measured, which subsequently change their state. Consciousness, or even life itself is not required to collapse the wave-function - just interaction with any other particles will do this just fine).

A popular theory by Chopra misinterprets quantum entanglement and claims that it can cause the future to affect the past, and can transmit information faster than light. No experiment yet conducted has shown that these phenomena are true, in fact they all seem to show the opposite.

I appreciate that quantum effects undoubtedly affect the mind, after all our brain is merely a collection of neural connections powered by electrons/molecules that all exhibit random quantum phenomena, which could likely change our perceptions/decisions in real life. I like to theorise that these phenomena give us true free will - the innate randomness of quantum effects means human behaviour could never be predicted to 100% accuracy.

But this is a different hypothesis to consciousness being a product of quantum phenomena, which as far as I'm concerned is pseudoscientific.

I'm not a quantum physicist, but I'd like to hear some other peoples thought on this matter - is there any testable/scientific proof that consciousness is a product of quantum phenomena?

To get your porn star name: Take the name of your first pet, then your mother's maiden name.

Mine is "Tommy Bolton". It's a good porn star name if I do say so myself  Grin
17  Other / Off-topic / I apologise for another Bible themed post but... on: August 21, 2014, 08:44:14 PM
is there any record in the Bible of anything that was discovered after the bible was written?

For instance living cells/gravity/atoms/photons/electrons/neutrons/quarks/galaxies/dinosaurs/electromagnetic waves/radioactivity/viruses/bacteria/DNA etc.

This is not meant to be an atheist or religious thread really, just a question for people that believe what is written in the Bible (or any religious book for that matter). Personally, I find it a little suspect that these religious texts only contain information about what was known at the time of writing.
18  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-08-05] The Telegraph-Bitcoin trades slump as cryptocurrency's rise stalls on: August 05, 2014, 05:05:02 PM
Bitcoin trades slump as cryptocurrency's rise stalls

"Elevated Bitcoin prices have deterred new investors and seen transaction fall back to 2012 levels"

"The ascent of digital currency Bitcoin has been halted. Transaction levels have been crumbling this year, and priced in dollars total volumes are now back to the levels seen in 2012."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/currency/11013767/Bitcoin-trades-slump-as-cryptocurrencys-rise-stalls.html

Bit strange after The Telegraph did a story the other week saying that Bitcoin would hit $2000!!

I'd class this as FUD, they're arguing that the current volume is the same level as during the $30 peak in 2012, when the volume in most of 2012 was tiny.
19  Other / Off-topic / Recommend me some extreme metal albums! \¬¬/ on: July 25, 2014, 08:48:37 PM

Less heavy/more traditional metal:

I like what I've heard from these bands, but mostly don't know album/song titles, tell me the best albums by these bands and other pounding thrash/death/black/extreme metal bands...
