I'm a programmer; I got into bitcoin in early 2011; and was smart enough to keep a sizeable stash (several hundred btc). When bitcoin started really going through the roof I spent a bunch of time 'protecting' that wallet with a long passphrase; and though I opened it several times, I waited like 4 months to get into it and when I tried, I couldn't get in. I tried and tried and tried. I eventually wrote a naive cracker that tried about 5 million attempts in little bursts over the next couple months, never successful. I was getting ready to give up when I was referred to dave. I was hopeful but far from optimistic. Within 72 hours of contacting dave; he had cracked a 50+ character password, with everything you are supposed to have: symbols, numbers, upper and lower case, words and random gibberish. He had the opportunity to steal, if he chose 57 btc from me worth at the time of writing something like ~34k usd. He didn't!
I obviously gave him the info needed; he wasn't acting blind.
Dave, you fucking rock.

I did a 100btc withdrawal from gox; paid the fee.. got a confirmation, it shows up in the logs.. but.. the transaction has not come through. it does not show up anywhere on blockchain.info
When I have done withdrawals in the past it has been instant.
Anyone know what's up?

I bought a bunch of crap for a mining rig and the thing won't boot. I am hoping the motherboard is fine, I have tested w/ 3 graphics cards.
Seems to be the ram or the cpu.
Need like a 2gb ddr3 stick and another cpu (that work!) to figure out what my issue is.
i'm in vermont.

I don't particularly like the dark pool; but probably a lot of people *do* like it, both buyers and sellers, so I will not make a fuss.
However, I think 1k is far too low to use the darkpool now.

Is there some discussion or wiki or anything on the best bang for the buck when you are building a rig from scratch?
I have been buying btc rather than mining and could sell off a bit of it and buy a rig. I can run it with no electricity cost as part of my shared office space.
What I want to avoid is vetting hardware and doing price comparisons etc etc; I haven't kept up with hardware in years. I am fine building the thing myself; I just don't want to pick the parts.
I'm willing to lose some margin on profits to have a s lightly cooler rig, something less prone to failure. I can probably get a case; but other than that I will need to buy the whole deal: psu+mobo+processor+cards
This will be a mining-only rig.
Would like to be in the 750M - 1 Ghash range

Actually my pops is.
My dad wants to pick up 50-100 btc. He is in Katy; runs Hennessey Motorsports there if anyone is a gear head. He is going through the dwolla->mtgox process, but it will be next week before that happens.
If anyone wants to sell btc in or near houston for cash at the top of the market (for today at least =D) let me know here or via email. I am gdoteof in irc. Additionally I'll send a shirt to whoever does the deal.
Great deal if you're into the type of work they do as you'll likely get a chance to browse around a bit.

It has pretty much gotten to the point where gribble will often be 30-40% of the lines in IRC. Someone suggested, and I agreed, that gribble should start replying only via PM. Nanotube disagreed, saying it would reduce usefulness. I am inclined to agree with nanotube and ask the community for ideas on how to not reduce usefulness (at least as minimally as possible) while reducing the gribble spam. The best change would be the easiest to implement. Some things I've considered.. - Allow a voteban from the room if someone is abusing gribble. If 5+ people say ,,squelch <nick> that person can't use gribble outside of PM for 30 minutes (or whatever)
- White list trusted users so they can pull the wiki, the guides and other factoids for the noobs as needed, and make everyone else use gribble in PM or a #bitcoin-bots
- Set a ratelimit so if gribble has spammed a certain amount he says 'its getting busy, lets move this to #bitcoin-bots'
- Remove the rainbow, morse, binary and other novel, but not really useful functions
- Have gribble tell users to authenticate via pm in his instructions (instead of ;;verify http://... do /msg gribble ;;verify http://)
Maybe some combination of the above.. any other simpler brilliant ideas? Is this even a problem?

I have a bunch of playboys.. 50s-70s
none of the real valuable ones, but everything in pretty decent condition, considering.
They are heavy to ship as a lot (100 of them is almost 70lbs).
make me an offer.
Also have some glass blowing (lamp work, really) equipment.a nortel 'mid-range' with premix top, only a couple hours on it. Also a bunch of carbon tools, gauges for your tanks, colors, etc. I don't have the glasses or the kiln; but pretty much everything else you need to get started.

I know it's ancient. But it is sitting idle 80% of it's life so if I could get some coins trickling in that would be great.
Can I use this with any of the open sourced software out there, or am I too old? If so, can someone recommend a card I can plug into the same slot that would work?

Morgan and Peace versions.. all in 'junk' shape.
50 bit coins each including shipping, I have 30 I want to get rid of. Willing to negotiate if you want multiple. Coins will be shipping from California.
I have a roll of silver nickels (35%) as well
Please email me if you're interested or post here if you have any questions. Open to suggestions on keeping both parties safe. (I know I am new here, though I do have a robust 'online' identity.. but I am willing to ship first to trusted members of the community if that's an issue)
Thanks Geoff
