1  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-4-2] Global Bitcoin ATM Infrastructure Expands in March With 53 New BTMs on: April 03, 2017, 12:51:00 AM
Bitcoin’s ecosystem, in addition to its exchange rate and market capitalization, had quite a tumultuous March due to escalating hostilities between proponents and developers of the 'Segregated Witness’ and ‘Emergent Consensus’ upgrade proposals.

However, the temporary instability has not dissuaded digital currency entrepreneurs from continuing to invest capital in Bitcoin ATMs (BTMs).

5  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-02-23] Bitfinex Hacker Moving Stolen Bitcoin Again; Evidence of Tumbling on: February 23, 2017, 04:32:48 PM
The hacker who stole 120k Bitcoin from Hong Kong-based exchange Bitfinex on August 2nd of 2016, has continued moving a portion of their loot across the Bitcoin network this month.

This is the hacker’s first attempt at neutralizing the ability of professional blockchain forensics firms and law enforcement agencies to track the stolen coins.

While the hacker’s first move on Jan. 26, 2017, was Tweeted by Bitfinex and received plenty of coverage from many financial news outlets, maneuvers over the past few days have gone mostly unreported.

Bitcoin Trades at $1060 Again; Recoups All Losses From PBoC Crackdown on Chinese Exchanges

As of today, the price of Bitcoin has recouped all losses that were incurred on February 9th, when the People’s Bank of China spooked majority of Chinese cryptocurrency exchanges into complying with existing financial regulations.

The PBoC warnings sent the price of Bitcoin crashing from $1066 to $914 in the space of a three hours that day. Today, the BTC/USD exchange rate is once again hovering around $1060.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How many of you would like to join the Gridcoin pool directly with your Android? on: October 06, 2016, 01:54:52 AM
You get to contribute to your favorite Boinc science project with your Android smartphone and Katiee's GRC pool (pool.gridcoin.co) does the payments every 1-2 weeks. Any takers?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Modifying the Boinc Android App to Work with the Gridcoin Pool Directly on: October 04, 2016, 03:12:43 AM
The default Boinc for Android only allows three account managers and doesn't allow the addition of custom managers, which is needed for Gridcoin pool mining with your Android phone. However, the Boinc app can be modified using the free Android APK Editor app, which is what I used to insert the pool.gridcoin.co URL in the default manager options.

If you don't want to do the setup yourself you can just download the app file here: http://www.filedropper.com/gen_1

Step 1:

Download Boinc and Android APK Editor from Google play.

Step 2:

Open up APK Editor and open the Boinc app using the "Select APK from app" option.

Step 3:

Select the "Full Edit" option.

Step 4:

Select the "Files" tab from the options bellow.

Step 5:

Select the "Values" option.

Step 6:

Select the "Arrays.xml" option.

Step 7:

Once you enter the arrays file, you can just swap one of the existing manager urls with the Gridcoin pool one between the <item> </item> tags.

Step 8:

Once the modification is complete, click the save button and install the new Boinc version on your Android.

The new version should now allow you to use the Gridcoin pool as your manager and you can add projects from within the pool interface when logged in.

11  Economy / Exchanges / Digital Currency Exchange Bitfinex Limping Along Following $70 Million Hack on: October 01, 2016, 04:11:08 AM
Despite good-faith efforts made by Bitfinex management to restore investor confidence, volumes on the exchange are currently a small fraction of what they were prior to the monumental theft. Data from BitcoinCharts.com shows the drastic drop in volume on the Bitfinex BTC/USD pair after the hack:

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Join the Gridcoin Thunderclap Campaign and Let the World Know About BOINC on: September 13, 2016, 02:05:36 PM

About Gridcoin:
Gridcoin (Ticker: GRC) is a decentralized, open source math-based digital asset (cryptocurrency), kind of like Bitcoin, but also very different. Gridcoin was the first digital currency that delivered a working algorithm that equally rewards BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) scientific work.

Gridcoin came into existence in 2013. Since then, team Gridcoin has become the top Boinc team in the entire world, doing close to 200,000,000 credits in daily scientific work, spread out over 30+ Boinc projects:

http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-5/team/list/16/0#1

How does Gridcoin actually work?
This video by RTMoney describes several mining algorithms and how Gridcoin operates:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSg2Dt61DQs

What is the purpose of this campaign?

The purpose of this Thunderclap campaign is to raise awareness about BOINC scientific computing and digital currencies like Gridcoin, which gives volunteers and newcomers a monetary incentive to contribute to science with hardware at their disposal.

Boinc computing uses up sizable amounts of electricity on a monthly basis and generous volunteers across the world usually pay for this cost from their own pockets. Gridcoin provides a way for Boinc volunteers to recoup their monthly power costs and be part of a growing and exciting digital economy.

You can join the Gridcoin Thunderclap campaign with your Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr account. The campaign needs to gather 100 supporters by September 24, which is 12 days away. Join today and let the world know about the importance of volunteer scientific computing and digital currencies like Gridcoin that support it.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Impending Global Negative Interest Rate Regime Bodes Well for Bitcoin on: August 21, 2016, 05:20:36 AM
The widely-publicized Bitfinex heist, which is the second biggest Bitcoin exchange hack after MtGox in 2013, may have a short term negative impact on the way general public perceives the novel technology. However, the Bitcoin blockchain - the backbone of the digital currency - was never compromised and the network continues to function without a hitch. The same could not be said for the world’s financial system!

16  Other / Off-topic / The Disgusting Censorship at reddit.com/r/forex on Full Display on: August 19, 2016, 07:42:44 PM

Two days ago I decided to post one of my articles (Alpari UK clients to get 80 cents on the dollar after 19 months of bankruptcy proceedings) to reddit.com/r/forex, thinking it was the appropriate place as it was a subreddit dedicated to Forex trading.

My post was well received and got 14 upvotes and 8 comments. This post remained on the HOT page for close to two days and generated good discussion. Having good results with my article, I decided to make another post with a new article (CFTC Hits Biggest US Retail Forex Broker FXCM With Lawsuit), however, my post was immediately flagged as spam and was removed. I decided to contact the moderators regarding the reason for the swift removal.
