1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The misconception when buying/investing in Bitcoin on: September 28, 2021, 09:23:18 AM
I really do not believe 1BTC / more to win the poll. Not that I am underrating anyone but, majority do not really buy that big and yet it creates a misconception for others who want to invest. The misconception runs through the thoughts of many people when it comes to investing in Bitcoin. This is not just with newbies but even with some people who are old in the space. Even at the current price of $41,925, 1 Bitcoin is not the minimum you can buy! I have seen a lot of people who are discouraged because they find it their their $20 or even $500 still equates to 0.0xxxxBTC. I understand the feeling but when it comes to Bitcoin, there is no special incentives for those who own a larger amount that you. When we get into the Bull run and maybe the price increases by 20%, no matter the quantity you bought, this 20% will impact everyone evenly. That shows that Bitcoin doesn't care how many you own, just have some and enjoy the benefits. Don't go thinking that it is too expensive, remember that it is also calculated in smaller bits (Sats).
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Bitcoin adoption isn't stopping on: February 11, 2021, 10:39:40 AM
Anyone seen the article by MasterCard? Nothing give me more inspiration like the intro - "Whatever your opinions on cryptocurrencies — from a dyed-in-wool fanatic to utter skeptic — the fact remains that these digital assets are becoming a more important part of the payments world."

MasterCard also talked about how people should have control over their money because it's theirs -  "We are here to enable customers, merchants and businesses to move digital value — traditional or crypto — however they want. It should be your choice, it’s your money."

I feel pleased to see how unstoppable Bitcoin becomes on a daily basis. As I once said, the chances of Bitcoin going down reduces every single day. More investors, More adoption, More users.... And so on.
This year will be great for Bitcoin! We think last year was the best? Didn't you read the new about Tesla?!
Looking forward to more big companies adopting Bitcoin.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Central Bank of Nigeria Explains Reasons Behind Crypto Ban on: February 08, 2021, 03:15:09 PM
CBN (Central Bank Of Nigeria) explains the reason behind the recent ban of cryptocurrency in the country. CBN says that it didn't create any new restriction to the use of cryptocurrency as it referenced to January 12, 2017, when it was earlier stated. They listed several reasons which include; portend-risk of loss of investments, money laundering, terrorism financing, illicit fund flows, and criminal activities. They also cited some countries which have also taken the same step to place a ban on the use of cryptocurrency.

Here's the CBN Document: https://nairametrics.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/CBN-Press-Release-Crypto-07022021-1.pdf

Source: https://nairametrics.com/2021/02/07/cbn-explains-why-it-banned-banks-from-dealing-with-cryptocurrencies/

To all Nigerians out there, I understand how much you don't want this. But it's quite unfortunate that it's an official ban. Though CBN stated that the ban had existed since 2017. I hope you all comply with the government to avoid any sort of assault. And if there's a need to deal with crypto, you must make this hidden and discrete. Best of Luck!
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin makes its way into the football industry on: January 22, 2021, 08:40:44 PM

A former Real Madrid Player by name David Barral has been recorded as the first player to be bought using cryptocurrency! This is the adoption! No one loves to hear this like me. I'm really pleased to see how far Bitcoin has come. And I'm sure that this year has a lot in place for Bitcoin.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Is Dying on: January 14, 2021, 07:51:52 AM
Bitcoin is dying and you could be among those who are killing it. In 2010 Laszlo paid 10,000 bitcoins for a pizza. We all know this story but how many of us understand it? Do you think Laszlo didn't see potential in Bitcoin? He could have hodl and sell it off, but, he made that transaction to prove a point; to prove that Bitcoin is actually a currency. But since the price skyrocketed, only a few care about the sole aim of the currency. Everyone is "buying the dip", or "Investing some $$" in Bitcoin, and that is killing Bitcoin. The average person today sees bitcoin as an investment. Are we really turing this Cryptocurrency into a Crypto Asset?!

A way of making more money due to the price speculation. With every new investor believing this, I hate to say this but, Bitcoin is dying. I know that the chances of Bitcoin's price dropping so bad are small. But if it happens, if it ever happens, a lot of people will lose, a lot will pull out, a lot will tag us scam, a lot will (out of anger) say that we are centralized, and a lot would never know or participate in the real use of Bitcoin. We need to figure this out before it becomes too late.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi Nakamoto doesn't want to be found; stop searching. on: January 08, 2021, 12:00:28 PM
While going through some bitcoin related news, I came across some news about Satoshi Nakamoto and his choice of words when writing. The thing is, everyone is eager and wants to know who he/she really is but have we ever considered if he wants to be found? Based on the news, articles, and documents I've been seeing, I don't think that he/she wants to be found.
Quote
The report found that from the very start Satoshi’s spelling was “inconsistent.” For example, the author notes how the Bitcoin inventor’s white paper has the British spelling “favour.” However, at the end of the paper Satoshi used the American-English term “characterized,” as opposed to writing the British spelling “characterised.”

Quote
Satoshi chose to use the word “optimization” and the same day he wrote “optimisation.
Lol... Just imagine.

How else can one interprete that Satoshi doesn't want to be found? In the same paper, he spelt "favour" (as a British), and at the end, he spelt "characterized" as an american word. Besides, I haven't seen any sort of clue that shows that Satoshi wants to be found. So, let's just let his/her will be done, and stop querying. Maybe we can find a way to know him/her, but, I don't think he/she wants such.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Are your Bitcoins safe? on: December 27, 2020, 07:18:55 PM
While I was scrolling through some tweets today, I came across someone's tweet regarding Bitcoin

Firstly, I don't think he's a Bitcoiner because he said "password" . Bitcoin wallets are mostly about recovery phrases or private keys.
I think that he may not be informed on the fact that one can back up his/her unique phrase or private keys in various places so they don't get into such trouble of misplacing it(which is what most of us are doing).
But then; Secondly, he is also making a point. We are all getting excited, and probably even buying more, but we've forgotten that we need to be more conscious of our backup. Most of don't even back up properly, we just screenshot our phrases forgetting that screenshots can be seen by others and even be deleted by anyone. Let's be cautious about our backups, check them if they still exist where you kept them and be sure if you need to replace them.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Let's create some Bitcoin meme on: December 20, 2020, 06:55:54 AM
Good day! Let's do some stuff for Bitcoin right now. Create a meme, a unique one that hasn't been posted elsewhere and I'd merit you based on how credible I find your meme.
Hint: The meme should pass a message about Bitcoin; not just for fun. Anyone can participate, except any account that isn't a month old.

I'd reward till I run out of sMerits.

Warning: No plagiarism or you could earn yourself some real trouble.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Not everyone will agree with Bitcoin, you should know this! on: December 19, 2020, 07:24:03 AM
Not everyone will support Bitcoin of course. We've seen such behaviour in our daily lives; just like not everyone likes you. Another example is Mark Cuban; an American billionaire entrepreneur. In 2017, he said that you should "only invest in bitcoin if you’re prepared to lose your money". We all know that bitcoin is volatile can that 'can cause' loss of your funds but... That statement is like saying you shouldn't invest in Bitcoin. Now earlier this year, in April, Cuban said that he'd “rather have bananas than bitcoin”. Now, in December, he said that his thoughts about Bitcoin hasn't changed.

He also said that "no matter how much bitcoin fans want to pretend that it's a hedge against doomsday scenarios, it is not". While researching, I learnt that one of his reasons for the hate is that he believes Bitcoin to be complex when it comes to usage. "It would have to be completely friction-free and understandable by everybody first." he said. But honestly, I don't see how Bitcoin is complex, all what we know was taught. He makes it look like you need a laptop to access / use it.

He's gone so far as talking his grandma out of it. “She was like, ‘Baby can you help me get me invested in this? Just buy me a couple of the bitcoin, and we’ll just hang on to them' ". This simply proves that some people won't just see the good in Bitcoin. So, don't talk anyone into it. I know he's not the only one who talks such about Bitcoin, but, we are not convincing anyone!
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin used by Criminals to sophisticate their footprints on: December 10, 2020, 07:56:52 AM
I am an advocate for Bitcoin and It pleases me to tell people about Bitcoin. But there are issues we need to attend to. Bitcoin was created as a means of payment, and some people are using it for that purpose. Unfortunately, this includes criminals. The rate at which criminals use Bitcoins to enhance their operation and make their footsteps sophisticated is just increasing! Haven't you heard that "Bitcoin is a scam"? This phrase only comes up because people have been seeing Bitcoin used for such purposes. Bitcoin is available to everyone, so how can we stop/reduce the misuse of cryptocurrency? Considering that KYC is not involved because I and some people prefer being discreet about our identity. So, how can we stop this, and I'd still have my secrecy? This is already rubbing dirt on us and needs to be attended to.
11  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Waspada Virus Digimine on: December 31, 2017, 06:29:49 AM

12  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / [DISKUSI] Efektifkah konsep taxi/truk derek secara global termasuk Indonesia ? on: August 24, 2017, 07:31:53 PM
