3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Mining programs contain malware? Should i be worried? on: November 28, 2013, 10:16:41 PM
I started mining some coins today, and I just ran a malware scan and it comes up with the following as malware:
Files Detected: 3
C:\Users\David\Downloads\cgminer-3.7.0-windows.zip (PUP.Optional.BitCoinMIner) -> No action taken.
C:\Users\David\Downloads\mining_proxy.exe (PUP.Proxy.BCM) -> No action taken.
C:\Users\David\Downloads\pooler-cpuminer-2.2.3-win32.zip (Trojan.BitcoinMiner) -> No action taken.

(end)

- I downloaded them all from the original source.. is it really malware or should i not worry?

Should we be buying pts today?

8  Economy / Speculation / If this happens bitcoin will definitely crash at least 20%. on: November 05, 2013, 07:52:46 AM
Based on my recent daytrading experience, as soon as I buy into bitcoin again we will definitely be on a huge downswing between 20-40% (so that I can panick sell!!). So, I'm taking bribes, anyone want me to crash bitcoin a bit? Tongue  Grin
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin-24, anyone in Germany get their money back? on: September 10, 2013, 06:07:47 PM
Hi guys, I am based in Germany and bitcoin-24 is simply ignoring my attempts to contact them. Has anyone had any success? Any tips? I've waited patiently for over 3 months now, but find it a bit dodgy that even though their lawyers said people in Germany can get their money back, they have completely ignored my requests and I can no longer log in to my account.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Unfazed By Bitcoin’s Wild Swings And Mysterious Origins, Silicon Valley VCs Place Their Bets

Bitcoin’s record highs and the ensuring surge in hacking attempts and thefts may be grabbing headlines. However, beneath the chaos, Silicon Valley’s best-known venture firms are finally starting to make real bets around the crypto-currency.
16  Economy / Speculation / Interesting situation on: April 11, 2013, 02:32:45 PM
So the people who invested money they could lose at over $200, are definitely holding. This is going to create a bigger scarcity than before, as they won't sell up until bitcoin recovers its value. If you look at the asks vs bids graph now, there is plenty of bids but hardly any asks up to $160 http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD.html

I think if these holders can hold their resolve for a few days chances are the price will go back up. Thoughts?

PS.- I dont care if the price goes up or falls. I hold so little bitcoin its irrelevant, just fascinated by all the drama Cheesy
17  Economy / Speculation / New DDOS now in progress, what will happen? on: April 11, 2013, 09:50:00 AM

If they can't handle this DDOS well and the lag gets to 1 hour again things will get nasty. Opinions?

Another possibility is just that their twitter got hacked?
18  Economy / Speculation / Demand Above $195 = 20,000 BTC, Supply below $250 = 5,000 BTC; on: April 09, 2013, 04:11:16 PM
So if demand is so much higher than supply (due to hoarders), technically the price should skyrocket to $250 and above, am I wrong?

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD.html

Of course, this is if nobody with 20,000+ bitcoins on their own (or a few collectivelly), decide to panic sell.

Thoughts?

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Is this normal? (Litecoin mining) on: April 04, 2013, 02:43:59 PM
I set up a Windows PC to mine lite coins using CPU. While I wasn't expecting any crazy results, the only messages I can see in the litecoin window are "Mining started) and nothing else. The hashes per second shows a number (i think around 7k); is it normal to not see any other messages in the window? Am I just wasting electricity? Tongue All I want is to mine 1 block, it's an experiment.
