3  Economy / Exchanges / Best bitcoin debit card that works in US on: June 15, 2017, 02:40:09 AM
I'm looking for a bitcoin backed debit card. Looked at some threads here and see the recs are not for US enabled cards.
So, my question is what are the best ones for issue is the US?
I would like to stay away from anything Coinbase related.
Bitpay seems good. SpectroCoin supports multi-coins. Wirex seems to have bad customer support, my pet peeve.

What do the experts say?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What's happening with GNT send from Jaxx to Exodus on: June 12, 2017, 03:29:28 AM
I was sending 2100 GolemGNT from Jaxx to Exodus. I tried this 3 times. Each time the amount that arrived in Exodus was .000000000000000002.

The tx details say -

TxHash:

Support from Exodus (excellent support, btw) says it's a problem with Jaxx because the contract amount is correct in Exodus. Jaxx support (almost non-existent) has only replied a canned response about mining and some other useless drivel.

Does anyone have a clue what could be happening and how I would fix this? I have cleared the cache and subsequent 3rd attempt had same result.

Incidentally, the clearing of the cache in Jaxx has resulted in the DASH, LTC and ZEC wallets not initializing. There's no antivirus, VPN or Tor. I'm pretty disappointed with Jaxx. As soon as I can get my cryptos off it, I will be a former user. I'll go to Exodus solely for the amazing tech support.

Thanks in advance!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to uninstall the Ethereum wallet on: June 05, 2017, 09:30:48 PM
I attempted to sync with the Ether network by downloading the wallet and chose to abort after 3 days and many hangs.

However, now there is a large folder of Ethereum files in AppData, some of which my antivirus is flagging as malware. I suspect false positives.

I want to uninstall this wallet, but it does not show up in Programs and Features; so, I have to do it piece by piece.

So, what I want to know is if the Ethereum wallet is notorious for causing antivirus to flag, like the Bitcoin Core wallet is, apparently?

The 2 files that AVG came up with are -

C:\Users\L**t\AppData\Roaming\Ethereum\geth\chaindata\018709.ldb

C:\Users\L**t\AppData\Roaming\Ethereum\geth\chaindata\118445.ldb

Why would it flag only those 2?

If I delete the folders, will something else break?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Virus protection has quarantined my Bitcoin Core wallet on: June 05, 2017, 05:01:32 PM
Dyna:BitCoinMiner-CR [PUP]||mul is the name given to the threat.

When I attempt to open it from the shortcut, it says "Error Opening Block Database. Do I want to abort?"

Now I need to know what is going on here and what my options are.

This has been used as a hot wallet, so it doesn't have a high balance. But, I would really like to recover it, if possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Edit: I have been reading other threads about antivirus software flagging Core as a false positive. I am not seriously techie; so, I may need some guidance as to how to determine if there is a true threat.

What should I do first?

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / help with Lisk Nano wallet on: June 04, 2017, 10:26:27 PM
I just downloaded the Lisk Nano 0.2.1, did the set-up of the 2 keys (wrote them down!) and then transferred Lisk to the wallet successfully. I then tried to login again and was unable to login. I just keep getting the option for New Account. The Login button is greyed.

So, my questions now are -

1) Has anyone else had this problem or other login problems? I'm aware that this wallet is considered beta; so, does anyone know of known issues?
2) If Lisk support does not help me successfully login, is there a way to recover the keys?
3) What other solutions can I try?

Thanks for any help!
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Please help me clarify how Coinbase works on: April 11, 2013, 05:11:28 AM
I initiated a buy order on April 4, 2013 and the btc price used to calculate the total deducted from my bank account was $131. The buy happened today according to my receipt and I have a question about that.

Are the bitcoins actually "bought"? If so, at what price? With all the volatility, I assumed that when the buy actually happened according to the time/date stamp on the order, the price could be anywhere from $100 to $200. I wondered if I would get all 10btc or less if the price was above $131. What if the price today was less?

Or, am I completely confused about this and something completely different happened, than would happen on say, a stock purchase? Did Coinbase have btc already available and just moved them to my wallet at the appointed time?

What is the purpose of the checkbox that states "I acknowledge that the amount of BTC I receive will vary based on future exchange rates." What is the purpose of the week delay between order and buy?

I appreciated the ease of transacting on this site after wearing myself out pursuing more complicated/less reliable avenues. But, I expected more transparency from Coinbase as to what happened and for how much.

So, someone, please tell me what happened there?
