Got a new computer and due to technical reasons I have to reinstall bitcoin vs. just transferring it.  When I go to install it brings up a new wallet for me to start.   When I put in the name of my old wallet it doesn't recognize it.   

Is there a way to install electrum and use my seed to just go to my old wallet (I don't get the option with the new install from the electrum website.  Just make a new wallet.  I can do that and move my money but It'd be nice to just get my old wallet set up here.

I made a transaction with a seller and paid using bitcoin from my electrum wallet.   They use coinbase to process their transactions.    It went through, got confirmations, shows in electrum it's there but seller says they didn't receive the money.

Then I find out they no longer take bitcoin even though everyone I spoke to during the ordering process knew I was using it so it's possible that wallet is no longer valid.  So then what? 

I'm not sure if they looked and I'm waiting for them to give me the wallet number to see if I sent it to the wrong place or for them to track it.

I called Coinbase and they can't help because I didn't pay from coinbase.  He couldn't even tell me for sure that I heard if the money is not claimed in 30 days it comes back to me.  Would that happen if a wallet is no longer valid?

They just ate the cost and sent me  what I ordered and if they don't care about the money I don't, except if I sent to the wrong place and that's on me.

I open electrum and bottom left where BTC are I have a message that says NO FX rate AVailable.

I found someone who says change Fiat so I changed from Coinbase to Blockchainsomething and it's fine.

I never had this happen and I just used BTC so am I missing something? 

Also, I'm not tech savvy so please keep advice simple and I can't mess with the OS on my Macbook.

I want to move my BTC in electrum to a different wallet in electrum.  On Coinbase it just lets you transfer but I don't see this option.

I'm doing this because I'm trying to get the BCC I got with the fork in my wallet and I read I have to move btc to a new wallet with a new seed and then somehow (I'm not sure) move the BCC to the original bitcoin.

I did read in one place that to get BCC I should move all my BTC off my computer, or use another computer which I don't have access to.  But I saw another article by the same place that just moving them will work, vs them being stolen.

Anyway help with either or both problems?

I use electrum with Coinbase. When Coinbase announced the split I moved everything over to electrum.  Someone I know said she had $100 of the new coin but I'm not sure how to do it.

I was told to make a new electrum wallet with the same seed as the old one where my BTC was but then I was told I needed a different computer.

I don't have another computer and I only have an iPhone.  As far as I can see there is no electrum APP.

So How can I get the free coins I got after the fork?

I purchased something for $86 and my fee was $15. That's insane.

I know fees are charged by the size of something, not the dollar amount but how do you figure out what the size is and avoid getting ripped off.  $15 is obscene.  even with the discount I got paying with bitcoin it would hae been cheaper to pay cash.

So how do you figure out what a good fee is so you get confirmed but don't get fleeced.

Can't remember the option but I forgot to unclick it so there is a yellow triangle before the transaction.  Plus I can't find tx ID.

Got two confirmations but what is that?  why would I use it?  Seems like sellers would think we would back out.

I moved some btc from   Coinbase to Electrum about 3 hours ago.   It completed on coinbase and has 12 confirmations but it's still showing as pending on Electrum.

Shouldn't it be there by now?  Especially with those confirmations?    How long should it take for the money to show up in my wallet?

I've tried but I just don't like Electrum.   Is there a way to empty it like Multibit has?  I have 0.40 and I want to move it and make sure I have enough fees to get confirmed but not leave any left.   Can someone help?

Some how installing Electrum on my Macbook I ended up with Default wallet and one I called Use This Wallet.   Use This wallet has a ton of addresses in (no idea why I was in the middle of multibit HD hell).

Is there a way to 1. remove the wallet which has never been used and 2 rename Default wallet.

My experience with multibit and their lack of support freaked me out I'm afraid to make a move anymore.  Right now my BTC is in Coinbase which is working fine for me.

I installed Electrum and requested $100.   However my other wallet is totally messed up and I don't need this transaction. Is there a way to delete it?  I stupidly said never cancel it.   Seems like I should be able to or do I just ignore it?

I made a payment using Multibit.  Apparently I didn't send enough but multibit won't let me send another payment and all my money is in the same wallet.

If I can't get the money sent the transaction is canceled.  How do I do this?   What if I had multiple transactions to pay for and it it only lets me pay one at a time?

I had lots of trouble installing this on my Macbook.  Finally got it on.  When I click on the Lock on the bottom that says my wallet is encrypted and asks for my password.   I also never set up seeds.   This could be from the problems installing it.

I never set up a password to start with or seeds so I have no way to change it or if I get locked out I'm screwed. 

I can't figure this out.  Can anyone help?

For some reason Electrum wont work on my Macbook.  I gave it permission to load and it wouldn't but I found a way to by pass that and I finally got electrum on my computer and that should be it.

However if I have to reboot my computer, it does not keep the application.  The icon is in the doc but everything else is gone (the toolbar icon) and I would have start again and re allow it to load on my computer.

I posted on an apple forum and they said it should stay once I bypassed the security it should let it stay.

I've seen posts where people have problems with Electrum.  Anyone know what's up?

I'm not savvy enough to deal with programming so it has to be something fairly simple.

My first wallet was Coinbase so I use them to check the current rate but someone just told me about Coindesk which has a rate about $10 less and that confuses me.

Obviously I'd want to buy at the lower price so how do I know what is right and how do I get the best price?  I also have multibit and electtrum.

I'm a newbie, but do have some btc's in a multibit wallet.   I'm about to make my first purchase and the instructions says

"make sure you know what unit you are using"

So do I have to work out with the seller what unit?  Right now it's set at MB, but I see there is Xbt or BTC so I'm getting confused.

I'm sure it's simple but I'm confused.   I see there are so many conversion options and unit options.
