2  Economy / Collectibles / [WTT / in search of] Bluebits 0.005 BTC (blue-colored?) chip 2017 on: August 12, 2023, 01:02:59 AM
I recently was lucky enough to aquire a 0.0025 Bluebits chip (2017).
Now all that's missing to complete a full 4-chip set is the 0.005 bluebits chip.

If you are the owner of one of these and want to sell or trade, please send me a dm.

I would be most happy to make a trade for my 0.0025 (green colored) Bluebits chip  - you missing the green one, me missing the blue one to complete our collection. Would add-on the difference in loading (0.0025 BTC) of course.
If you are interested in a Bitsend 4-chip set instead, also happy to trade this one.

Please dm.

I heard the 0.005 was blue colored but never seen it, so not sure.
3  Bitcoin / Wallet software / SOLVED: deprecated wallet: mSIGNA - how to access private keys? TINY BTC BOUNTY! on: July 22, 2023, 05:09:06 PM
This is a question for the sligthly more tech-savy Bitcoiners out here.

I recently accessed an old wallet called mSIGNA. It was recommended about 7 years ago and I used it for a while.
Now I want to access the remaining funds. This would only work if either I can connect to a node with this outddated wallet - Couldn't get it to work so far.
Or by exporting and re-importing the keys to another wallet.

The good news: I can access the public key list that was in use. And found an amount of slightly above 0.01 BTC that I want to transfer.
I still have the password.

The wallet allows to export the following (private) information:
1. Seed word list. It's a 24 word list.
2. BIP32 extended key
3. Private key file (file ending in .priv) -> no idea what that is and if it can be imported in other wallets

Now, I have tried to import 1) and 2) via electrum wallet.
Here are the options I tried without success so far (wallet not showing any transactions in the tx history). Note, I am connected to a node and other wallets update correctly, so it's not a connection problem.
- KEYRESTORE
  a) I already have a seed - here the import is only possible by switching to BIP39 seed
I tried all 3 available address formats (legacy, p2sh-segwit and native segwit) without success. Also Detect Existing Accounts doesn't find anything. I left the suggested derivation path unchanged - maybe with the right path settings this could be solved?
  b) Use a master key - If I choose this option, Electrum accepts the BIP32 extended key exported from mSIGNA. However again, there are no transactions recognized.
- IMPORT BITCOIN ADDRESSES OR PRIVATE KEY - you can only import regular private keys, and I cannot export/access there from the mSIGNA wallet. - I played a little with this tool: https://bip32.tools/?lang=en But couldn't get it to create a list of private keys for me.

If anyone can either help me to import my mSIGNA keys into another wallet so I can access any remaining funds or get mSIGNA to work again (meaning make it connect to a node so I can just send my funds) it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Made this self-moderated to avoid spam and farm comments. Anything off-topic or doing nothing else than suggesting something already explained in my post will be deleted.

I'm giving away 0.001 BTC for whoever helps the most to recover these funds. Will add info in OP. I reserve the right to decide at my own discretion who will get the funds - if more people are involved in finding a solution I might split it up.

final edit: a solution
The "easiest" way to access my unspent outputs / a solution was provided here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5460709.msg62604661#msg62604661
Case solved / funds returned.

However we still don't know the correct derivation path of mSIGNA and how to import the seed phrase or master private key into another wallet in way that lets you access your funds. (bonus quest for anyone interested, no bounty for solving it, though)

6  Local / Presse / [31.05.2023] Binace delisted Privacy Coins in vier EU Ländern on: June 03, 2023, 10:34:22 AM
https://bitcoin-2go.de/binance-privacy-coins-delisting/

"Binance hat angekündigt, in vier europäischen Ländern, darunter Deutschland, Italien, die Niederlande und Frankreich, den Handel von Privacy Coins einzustellen. "

"Die Entscheidung betrifft die Kryptowährungen Dash (DASH), Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC) und Horizen (ZEN)."

Binance hat sich da ziemlich schnell gebückt, wohl als direkte Reaktion auf diese News: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5449756.0
7  Bitcoin / Press / [23-05-19] Is Ledgers New Bitcoin Key Recovery Feature Safe? Experts Have Doubts on: May 19, 2023, 06:21:22 PM
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/personalfinance/is-ledger-s-new-bitcoin-key-recovery-feature-safe-experts-have-doubts/ar-AA1bpgQo

"When Ledger, a Paris-based hardware wallet-maker, announced a new key-recovery feature this week, it thought the move would be popular.

Allowing users to recover their private keys – much like you can recover your password if you forget it – would help onboard customers, the company believed. Potential crypto users are known to be turned off by crypto's unforgiving self-custody ethos ("not your keys, not your coins"). But a key recovery service would offer more comfort."

[Excerpt]
"Security concerns
The news of the update provoked a storm of criticism from the crypto community, with accusations that Ledger’s new offering contradicts its past statements about keeping private keys off the internet.
In particular, Crypto Twitter piled on the tweet Ledger’s official account posted in November, assuring users of the safety of their devices."
8  Local / Presse / [17.05.23] Ledger ermöglicht Zugriff auf Private-Keys on: May 19, 2023, 06:16:00 PM
https://www.btc-echo.de/news/ledger-fiasko-bitcoin-community-in-aufruhr-164403/

9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / looking for data/info on historic Bitcoin bug allowed unlimited BTC creation on: May 14, 2023, 03:38:45 PM
Not sure where to post this, but general discussion seems too unspecific.

I remember a few years ago (probably 4+ already) I read about a bug in Bitcoin Core that, if exploited, would have allowed for the creation of unlimited coins. It was reported and fixed before any malicious abuse could take place.
I found this article: https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-history-part-10-the-184-billion-btc-bug/
But I thought it was something that happend much more recently (like I said, maybe 4 or 5, 6 years ago).

Back then I was suprised I didn't read more news about it. Now I am starting to wonder if I imagined things and tried a quick search because I would love to know some technical facts about what actually happened. Hard to find so far...

10  Local / Presse / [21.04.2023] Regeln für BTC & Co.: EU-Parlament besiegelt Aus für anonyme Krypto on: April 22, 2023, 04:08:37 AM
https://www.heise.de/news/Regeln-fuer-Bitcoin-Co-EU-Parlament-besiegelt-Aus-fuer-anonyme-Kryptozahlungen-8974491.html

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin in movies on: April 19, 2023, 11:55:35 AM
Over the years, Bitcoin (and crypto) has caused some massive headlines, mostly about huge scams (Bitconneeeeeect, Onecoin, some NFT-shit) and failing exchanges (Mt Gox, FTX...). (ofc that's because of the nature of news outlets where sensationalism helps to generate clicks/views).
I was wondering what topics have already occured in movies or series?
Would like to compile a list of movies featuring crypto and more specific Bitcoin as part of their plot.

Most prominent that comes to mind for me is the series Mr. Robot.

I feel there must be (much) more and also think some of these topics/themes have the potential to be the foundation for massive blockbuster movies.

So please go ahead and post any kind of movie or series that uses crypto or Bitcoin as an important part for their storyline.
Also curious about upcoming movies if you have any insights on these.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Hypothetic question regarding network security after last halving on: April 13, 2023, 08:20:47 AM
Recently I had a discussion with a friend interested in- but not convinced by- the principles of Bitcoin.
You know how it goes "blabla I don't really see the longterm value of Bitcoin" - "blabla, currently store of value, immutable, can scale with lightning to become widely used for payments, predictible outcomes, no centralized control, safe-heaven against institutional/gov. control bla".
Some back and forth.

He then asked me this question, which I wasn't entirely sure how to asnwer. IF Bitcoin just stays a store-of-vaue/digital-gold type of thing, because it has many advantages in comparison to physical store-of-values but never is mainly used for payments: How can the network incentive to keep running lots and lots of expensive mining hardware with high-energy-consumption (lets forget about the possibility for other proof-of-work algos and free energy solutions like fusion power etc for this example) be maintained? If the network is only used every once in a while for a transfer of value from one entity to another?

We are assuming block-reward is 0 now and the only reward is coming from network fees. (after last halving)

To put it in other words: Wouldn't be that amount coming from fees be possibly too small to keep up a healthy hashrate and therefore weaken the network / breaking the current equilibrium of hashing-effort vs. block-reward-payout? Assuming Bitcoin transactions are very low in volume, because it's not used for payments, just as a store of value/digital-gold?

Not entirely sure if this belongs in technical discussion, my apologies in advance if this is misplaced.
13  Economy / Collectibles / Longterm physical crypto collectors DOOMED because of Quantum-Computing? on: April 11, 2023, 07:04:32 AM
Recently I watched a video by Sabine Hossenfelder, where she showed a graph of the current speed of development on Quantum computing and a projection until when this techonology is estimated to probably crack current wide-spread encryption technology.
(I did a quick search but did not find that particular video, you can check a new one on the topic here, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBLVtCYHVO8)
The projected date was between 2030 and 2040. The exact dates do not matter much imho, the important fact is, that current state-of-the-art-cryptography WILL become obsolete within the next 10 to 25 years.

I don't want to go into detail, why this will probably not widely impact our current system(s) relying on these encryption-techs too much. Short version: All bigger companies, governments and institutions are aware that these techs need to be updated within rougly the next decade and current development already has quantum-proof solutions. These will (hopefully / most likely) be implemented in all critical infrastructure (banking, communications, accounting, any password-based stuff, severs, crypto, etcetc.) and ideally most end-users won't even notice much of a transition.

HOWEVER: All funded crypto collectibles rely on this old, NON-QUANTUM-PROOF encryption (sha256 and whatnot to hash publickeys and addresses from the underlying private key), and therefore are doomed to securely hold funds longterm, as long as the public keys were exposed at any point in time. The main reason: A physical collectible cannot be upgraded to quantum-proof as it would be possible with any software.

Yeah, it may still seem like a long shot, and there is a chance it will take (much) longer than currently be projected - but I don't think just hoping is the right approach as physical crypto collectors.

tldr: Sooner or later we will have to peel all our funded collectibles to avoid getting quatum-swept by some powerful organasation or government.

I didn't do a deep-dive into the topic (yet), these are just random thoughts I'd like to discuss here, happy to hear any insights and ideas on the topic from anyone that has something to say about it.
14  Local / Presse / Buch: Ijoma Mangold - Die Orange Pille on: March 16, 2023, 02:45:12 PM

15  Economy / Exchanges / Binance - where is it located? on: February 28, 2023, 11:51:11 PM
I never thought about it much, but today I was wondering where Binance was located. Googling didn't bring up the results I was expecting.

https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2022/05/where-is-binance-located/
Quote
“Wherever I sit, is going to be the Binance office. Wherever I need somebody, is going to be the Binance office.”
Shin pressed the issue further, leading Zhao to say that he was not trying to “obfuscate” or “hide,” the company’s location, and that Binance was “in the open.”

There are some addresses pointing towards Malta or Cayman Islands, however no clear public info about their official headquaters to be found.
Checking wikipedia, some pages say they are not registered/unknow, some say "Society of Delaware".  Huh

How does a company like Binance pay taxes (if at all?) and under which law are they to respond to any disbutes?

17  Economy / Collectibles / Free A4-print incl shipping for any Historiy-20-1 (daemon design) coldkey holder on: January 13, 2023, 11:11:41 PM

This is how I will keep these cards in mind: a hurtful fk-up of epic proportions.

If you own a coldkey with my daemon design you are eligable for a free A4 Bitcoin-DAEMON print.
See this thread for more info on the print: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5253929.msg54577485#msg54577485

Not sure yet if it will get a tiny note regarding this incidient with cold keys recently or not. Probably yes unless majority is against it.

Shipping to EU directly from me.
Otherwise via minerjones who will be helping me out with US distribution. Thanks man!

To receive a print, please send me a private message with a photo of your card(s) and a paper showing your username and current date. Must be clearly visible. Also send me your shipping info if not in US.
Otherwise just note that you are in US and shipping will be handled later via MJ.

Peeled or not doesn't matter (you probably should peel em, though).

I feel sickened by what happened, peeling the cards last night with my own design created over 3 years ago, sucked like nothing I ever experienced in collectible crypto space ever before.
My heart goes out to anyone affected by this mess and just hoping to cheer a few folks up a little bit at least.
18  Economy / Collectibles / [WTB / WTT] American Eagle Liberty Colorised or ANY BITCOIN themed SILVER coin on: December 29, 2022, 11:25:59 PM
If you got any of these, graded, ungraded, not important. Shoot me offers via pm.
I'm also down to trade against some oldschool German silver coins (old DM) or other crypto collectibles.

Note: If you got not exactly these but similar coins, feel free to send an offer, too.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi among us - for those of you not aware of his (/her) legacy in this forum on: December 28, 2022, 08:39:26 PM
For the OGs and some more experienced Bitcointalk users this is nothing new.

However, for all the hundret-thousands of newer accounts it may be suprising to know that you can still read all posts made by the real Satoshi him/herself.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3

Profile ID #3 it is. #1 was used for admin stuff only, #2 does not exist

For me it was still a nice revelation to fully understand that this forum was created by the Legend. The person that changed modern history more than 14 years ago by publishing the Bitcoin whitepaper (for reference see: https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper). A strange thought to be in a slightly abstract way so close to the source of it all.
Even more amazing is the fact everyone can read his/her first thoughts and comments on the early implementations of Bitcoin right here.
In a sense every forum member (currently over 3.5 million!) is part of crypto / Bitcoin history. Congrats.

Two questions:
1. Were you aware of this simple fact? - If yes, have you ever read a Satoshi post before?
2. Did you ever take a look at the Bitcoin whitepaper? - If not, will you do so now?
