Komodo (KMD) is a new crypto coin that is buit on Zcash Zero Knowledge proofs:

They did an ICO and going to start to distribute coins soon, but you can also swap BitcoinDark (BTCD) for KMD in a few weeks at the rate of 50 KMD per 1 BTCD.  

So could be a runup in BTCD in anticipation of this once KMD launches if the exchange rate is favorable.  BTCD is already up about 20% today on Poloniex, although the volume is pretty low.

You can also get a bonus coin called REV if you have BTCD in an off exchange wallet by the time they announce the official swap.  However you can swap BTCD for KMD anytime next year.  Yes, it's a bit confusing but bottom line is that could be a time to buy BTCD for a big bounce.

I would like to encrypt my wallet.dat file on my PC and flash drive, etc.  What is the best encryption to use for it?  I have PGP Desktop Encryption and know about TrueCrypt as well.  I guess I could use both of these together or are there other ideas.  Thanks.

People talk about paper wallets a lot and "cold storage" but it seems like it would be safer to have an encrypted electronic wallet, copied to multiple flash/drives computers.   I'm talking about professional grade encryption like PGP or truecrypt.

But it seems like a paper wallet could be seized just about as easily as your fiat in a bank account.  Unless you hide the paper wallet somewhere like burying it in the wilderness, but you could do the same with fiat cash and that is a lot more stable of a currency than BTC.

I guess you could hide the paper wallet private key separately from the BTC address....maybe that would work but seems like putting the encrypted wallet on a few flash drives and hiding them would be better.  Then even if someone found it (which would not happen if you hid it well enough), then they couldn't even use it, not matter what.

I have a friend who loves online poker but got shut out of it when the USA cracked down on it...they made it next to impossible to get your USD in and out of the poker websites.

But bitcoin seems IDEALLY designed for this is and all other kinds of gambling.  It is easy to get your money in and out of the gambling site, once you have bitcoin to begin with.

I hear people talk about that Satoshidice site and it doesn't even really look like a casino gambling type of site.  Are there any proper ones out there using bitcoin and if not, then why not?

I've got to think this will eventually be a HUGE market that could even dwarf the Silk Road...and lead to more people wanting bitcoins and higher prices over time...more demand for the same supply.

Ok I have been into bitcoin for about 4 months now and very comfortable with all of the major exchanges and moving BTC around all over the place and using blockchain.info, multibit, electrum, etc.

But one thing I hadn't done is create a paper wallet and put any BTC into "cold storage".  I thought that the BTC price was going to continue to drop, so I didn't want to hold any long-term.  But now that the chart is looking more favorable (to my eyes at least), I figure I will start to save some in a paper wallet and put it in a safe place.  I've enjoyed reading about all the different solutions that everyone on here uses.

So I've read up on it and created the address and private key at bitaddress.org and printed out the wallet and sent .05 BTC to the address on it for testing purposes.  I am using blockchain.info in "Watch Only" mode for this address.

So my 1st question is whether or not it is even wise to use the address online like I'm doing to watch it on the blockchain info site?

And 2nd question is to move or spend these coins eventually, is it correct that I just import the private key into Blockchain and then I'll be able to spend the BTC in my paper wallet?

And it's my understanding that once you import the private key anywhere, you should not use that wallet any longer and should spend all the coins or transfer them elsewhere..is that correct?

Ok sorry for the basic questions but I figure some others could benefit from the answers as well.  I'm going to play around with a couple more paper wallets with very low amounts of BTC and try to learn the ropes before I put anything sizable in them.  Thanks in advance for the help..

I enabled two factor authentication on my blockchain.info wallet and some drawbacks with using google authenticator so I have them send a text to my cell phone with a short code.

It has worked mostly fine, but it does seem to send the texts when I don't request them sometimes. I think it logs me out due to inactivity and then will send me a new code.

But just now I tried to login and it won't send the code...says:

"Reached daily limit for medium priority sms messages"

How is it just "medium priority" for me to even get into my wallet?  

Is there any workaround for this?  It seems absurd.  Thanks.

I've never bought anything over $20 with BTC so a little nervous about sending more to buy something bout would like to buy a gold coin or two with some.  What is the best business to go with...one that is established and has satisfied customers...doesn't rip people off, etc?  Thanks.

When I use Dwolla to add funds to CampBx, the funds are there instantly.  I just did my first Dwolla to Mt Gox transfer and it was 7 hours ago and still no funds are showing up in Gox.   How long does it usually take?  Thanks.

Ok so maybe not a total collapse yet, but it is down almost 50% in the last week.  It has been drifting downwards since its peak at about .02 USD each and now it is at .009 USD each.   

If you have ripples to sell, you may want to consider doing so before the price drops any further.  Remember XRP is still up about 800% since Feb so plenty of room to drop further.

Can someone tell me about buying Amazon GC on here with BTC?   I love the idea and would even pay 100% face value for them with BTC, but I've heard some people say that some of them are stolen and also there is no way for the seller to verify that the code works beforehand.

I have gotten scammed three times and trying to learn more to avoid this, and also what do I do when I get scammed?  I can post here, but should I report the person to one of the administrators so they can investigate and possibly give them a scammer tag on their account?    I'm sure they don't have time to investigate scammers all day but I just don't know what the proper procedure is.
