1  Economy / Speculation / Miners ned a price of 300k at next halving to stay even? on: June 01, 2018, 10:06:24 PM
Hi,

I did some calculations - maybe you can tell me if I am wrong because it sounds like it ...

1) Next halving is in 104482 blocks => this is 51 difficulty adjustments (104482 / 2016) - https://fork.lol/
2) Difficulty rises by about 7,41% each adjustment (I took the average from the beginning of 2017 until today) - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty
3) Current difficulty is 4306949573981 => After these 51 adjustments (* 1,0741^51) it is 164987230632007

If I put this into https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=14000.00&p=1320.00&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=164987230632007.00000000&r=6.25000000&er=300000.00000000&hc=0.00

With Antminer S9 data and 10 cents / kWh I would need a BTC price of about 300.000 USD just to break even ...

Probably the difficulty rise might stop but .... Where am I wrong ;-) ?

PS: Even with a difficulty increase of only about 4% we need 60k to stay even.
2  Economy / Speculation / Will you stay in crypto if BTC does not recover? on: April 05, 2018, 07:36:45 AM
Hi,

Just wondering if you guys will stay in crypto (aka hold or sell your BTC holdings) if the price does not recover.

Lets say we are still around 6k-7k by December 2018 => Will you wait it out or give up and say "OK, we had a nice ride but we are not going up again"?

What about if in 2019 price is still hovering around 6k-7k and there is no sign of recovery to 10k+ (or even a new ATH)
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / md5 or sha1 for Electrum 3.0.1 on: November 10, 2017, 09:13:26 PM
Hello,

Can someone post a valid md5 or sha1 hash for Electrum 3.0.1.

I downloaded the file and want to check it before running.

I don't have PGP and a Google search showed that this will not be a quick check if you don't have the software and so on Smiley
4  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum 2FA Wallet on: October 25, 2017, 06:09:24 PM
Hi

I am reading everywhere that 2FA wallets use a 24 word seed.

But when I create a new 2FA wallet in electrum it only uses a 12 word seed.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Thanks
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Bitfinex BCH deposit not confirming (confirmations stuck) on: August 05, 2017, 08:01:55 AM
Hi

I made 2 transactions of Bitcoin Cash to Bitfinex at 3 blocks apart

1 transaction: Has now 10 confirmations according to blockchair.com => Bitfinex only shows 4

2 transaction: Has now 7 confirmations according to blockchair.com => Bitfinex only shows 5

Also Bitfiniex links the transaction ID to: https://live.blockcypher.com/bch/tx/79ec6f520604dcac6e9ebaa641dce38b305c5a537eb1fd3ac75017c2cabb4c56/ => Url not Found ERROR (I guess this might be the problem why they don't detect the new confirmations)

Blockchair shows the transaction ID as valid.

Does anyone have the same problem?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Poloniex will credit BCC on or before 8/14 on: August 04, 2017, 04:27:01 AM
https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2017.08.03-Bitcoin-Cash-Update/

We've received several inquiries about Bitcoin Cash (BCH) since the fork on 8/1/2017. Our hesitation to immediately support BCH or any other Bitcoin (BTC) derivative was and is born out of the desire to ensure the security of network operations and the safety of our users' tokens.

We will be crediting users who had BTC in their account balance at the time of the fork with matching BCH. We expect this to occur on or before 8/14/17. Keep in mind that we have not yet determined if we will be listing BCH as a market on Poloniex nor can we commit to supporting BCH withdrawals right away. The ability to withdraw BCH will depend on network stability which is completely outside of our control.

We appreciate everyone's patience on the matter.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Cannot Withdraw Bitcoin Cash from Bitfinex on: August 02, 2017, 08:40:45 AM
Hi,

I was credited Bitcoin Cash on Bitfinex.

I have a new "Electron Cash" Bitcoin Cash Wallet where I transfered the funds from my other Bitcoin Wallet yesterday after the fork. So it seems to work.

But when I try to transfer the funds from Bitfinex to my Bitcoin Cash Wallet the websites writes: Invalid bcash address (156YQvK9###################5SbiuDS)

Please help.
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / A few questions regarding addresses on: July 20, 2017, 12:55:08 PM
Hi,

I have a few questions regarding Electrum. I hope you can help me.

1) Can I make several transfers to the same address in Electrum or do I have to use a new one every time.
2) If I only use one address => Would transaction fees than be lower as Electrum does not have to combine coins from several adresses to send to one output?
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Alts fall, Bitcoin falls ... where is the money going? on: July 10, 2017, 07:19:48 PM
Hi

Thread title says it basically.

Almost all Altcoins are currently falling, which means they are dumped for Bitcoins.

So Bitcoins should be bought and therefore rising => but they are also falling.

Why is that?
10  Economy / Exchanges / New Bitfinex Statement (April 20, 2017) on: April 20, 2017, 08:02:53 PM
Quote
This update is further to our announcements on April 13, 2017, and April 17, 2017, with respect to inflows and outflows of customer fiat funds to and from Bitfinex.

Bitfinex, unfortunately, continues to experience temporary delays in the processing of outbound fiat wires. We are developing alternative channels to address these delays, but this takes time. We appreciate the patience and loyalty demonstrated by our customers and the community in this matter. We were advised by our banks that we would be able to process outbound wires in HKD and CHF, and while we were able to successfully process several such transactions, we are now being told that the moratorium is being extended to these currencies, as well. Domestic transfers in all currencies within Taiwan, however, are working with no problems or delays.

Bitfinex is not alone in the bitcoin community in confronting challenges presented by correspondent banks; other exchanges in the digital currency ecosystem are also being affected. However, we are no longer in a position where we can wait for our existing banking partners to provide viable solutions. Accordingly, we are taking steps to work with our attorneys to ensure they are able to satisfy any requests and claims from customers. We are confident that this short-term solution will allow us to meet our fiat obligations to customers. However, it will likely be a one-time option per customer for USD withdrawals. It is not an ongoing solution to the correspondent banking problem and customers should be advised that they will be required to provide an appropriate acknowledgment of payment for claims in order to receive their fiat funds. Nonetheless, we believe it is important to build this solution for the immediate needs of our customers. This is also taking some time, and we will report back on our progress as soon as we are able.

We want to be absolutely clear here that Bitfinex is solvent. We have assets that exceed all user balances. We also want to emphasize that digital token trading is not affected on Bitfinex. We are developing facilities for different currencies, but in the interim, customers are welcome to trade and to undertake financing on Bitfinex and to deposit and withdraw smoothly using the available suite of digital tokens.

We want to apologize again for this continuing inconvenience, and to assure our customers that we are doing everything to get back to normal operations. We thank you for your ongoing patience.

12  Economy / Speculation / Will we be warned before a hard fork? on: March 19, 2017, 06:56:04 PM
Hi,

Probably a stupid question, but since the price of BTC will obviously go down rapidly if a hard fork happes.

Will we get some kind of an annoucement/warning hours/days before they start the fork or will this happen from one second to the next?
