1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Should I buy Gunbot, the automated trader ? on: January 14, 2018, 09:22:26 PM
I purchased the gunbot 8-9 months ago thinking that this would be an easy way to increase my stack of bitcoin.

This is what I found out

The information spread out amongst a wiki, github, 2 telegram groups and the forum. There is no organized way to learn about the bot.

They have what are called rolling releases.. meaning that Each update attempts to fix bugs in the previous version and adds new bugs of it's own. You will only find out about the bugs when you can sift through all your transactions to see why you sold something at a loss or why did it not sell at all. Sometimes there are ways to avoid the bugs, how will you know ? Because it will be posted in one of the above mentioned avenues of communication. Forget about facebook because you will spend your days scouring through the different mediums to find out the details of the bugs

Can I lose money with the bot ? Absolutely.

Can I only lose money if I am trading shit coins ?

No you can lose money from the bugs that caused you to miss the sell or cause you to buy above your set price.

If I don't like the bot or can't figure it out I can resell it right ?

Good luck with that. The forum is full of people who are trying to sell their bots but are unable. https://gunthy.org/forum/index.php/board,47.0.html Along with the mandated minimum pricing schedule that is imposed. The minimum is imposed so that Gunthar can still sell new licenses and sales because all of the used bots will eliminate the demand for new ones.

But there are a bunch of people in the gunbot thread saying how much money that made so quickly and easily.

They are shills ! Look at how many posts they have. Most of the those are from brand new accounts with less than a few posts. The others are nothing but leaches that have made a side job of shilling everything from settings, to scripts, to escrows relating to the gunbot.

So are you saying that nobody is making money with the gunbot ?

No, if you want to invest  a lot of hours to learn about the bot and continuously monitor the chats to find out about the bugs and spend an hour or 2 each day to baby sit the bot Yes you can make money.

It's automated trading right ?

Yes the bot works by itself but you are going to invest a minimum of 10 hours a week babysitting the bot and monitoring github, telegram and the forum. Don't believe for a second that you are going to set this up and forget about it or that you will only check it every few days

My verdict was that if I am going to spend a few hours each day to tend to the bot then I might as well just do manual trades. Hence that is what I have done. If you read this and still want to buy the gunbot then contact me and I will sell you mine through an escrow

If someone is telling you to buy it ask yourself if they are involved somehow in the Gunbot space. Selling something related to it. Are they profiting from trading or profiting or some other way related to Gunbot

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCash hold or sell ? on: January 08, 2018, 04:20:37 AM
I picked up some BCash days before the coinbase announcement so I have a decent profit off of it but my question is whether to hold it ?

Does Bcash have a future ? I am concerned because it really did nothing during the past few days were everything rallied. This is causing me some concern.

If I sell I will buy XMR, Ven and WTC with the proceeds
3  Economy / Trading Discussion / Futures trading causing the drop ? on: December 28, 2017, 05:54:38 AM
Am I the only one who thinks that futures trading only gives the governments and the bankers a way to destroy Bitcoin ? I fail to see how this is in the best interests of the people who wanted a decentralized currency
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Director of EXMO kidnapped on: December 28, 2017, 03:44:18 AM
Quote
Pavel Lerner, the managing director of the cryptocurrency exchange EXMO was abducted by “unknown persons” in Kiev, reports Ukraine-based web publication Strana.ua.  According to their sources, Lerner was held while leaving his office in the center of town and driven off in a black Mercedes-Benz.

Currently, multiple investigations are underway to determine why and by whom Lerner was kidnapped.

According to Strana.ua, Lerner is a Russian citizen who holds a residence permit in Poland and is involved in a number of crypto/ Blockchain startups in Ukraine. Lerner’s Facebook page says he is originally from Kursk, Russia. EXMO’s site states that the company is based in Polegate, England.

EXMO representatives told local crypto journal ForkLog that the incident has not affected the company’s functioning and that users’ data and funds have in no way been compromised:

“We are doing everything possible to speed up the search of Pavel Lerner. Any information regarding his whereabouts is very much appreciated. Despite the situation, the exchange is working as usual. We also want to stress that nature of Pavel’s job at EXMO doesn’t assume access either to storages or any personal data of users. All users funds are absolutely safe.”

In other news from Ukraine, earlier this month in Odessa, ForkLog reported that both their office and their CEO’s apartment were raided by members of the Ukrainian Security Service. The raid culminated in the seizure of equipment, including those on which personal and corporate cryptocurrency funds were held.

5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Coinbase and the IRS on: November 30, 2017, 02:06:29 PM
We all knew that this was going to happen. The dog and pony show about coinbase fighting for it's customers was nothing but show. We knew that there would be a compromise. I never kept anything on Coinbase.

When I bought I immediately transferred out to Polo or Bittrex. Now both of these have KYC and Bittrex stopped allowing withdrawals from non verified accounts. So I am compromised there. I cleaned out my unverified account from Polo but had to verify because I missed the deadline on Bittrex.

Now all my trading is done offshore. Bitfinex, Binance and Openledger.

Who else is making the same moves ?

Am I the lone ranger in not wanting to fund wars, locking up people for life for small crimes and the police state that we now have in the US ?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / It hurts to think about all the dust I left in old wallets etc on: November 29, 2017, 12:45:33 AM
With Bitcoin reaching crazy highs along with Dash and Monero I am thinking of the dust I left everywhere. The .1 Dash that I was tipped when I joined the slack and never moved to my wallet is now worth $60. The rewards I get for shopping with BTC and still have on one account is now worth enough to repurchase said products.

Anyone else have stories to share about $ left in old wallets or just threw away their wallets on an old computer ?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 75 LTC should I hold or sell. If sell what should I buy ? on: November 22, 2017, 01:06:48 AM
This isn't an opportunity to give me your latest pump and dump coins.
Current Portfolio
BTC , ETH, Dash,  Monero,  waves, FUN, Civic, EOS, ICN OMG

I like things with a larger market cap that can be a long term hold. Not looking to swing trade. I am also open to just increasing some of the holdings that I have, except ICN
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Why do alt's use Slack ? on: October 01, 2017, 05:16:27 PM
Slack is like the wild west with scams and phishing attemps

If ETH forked each time I got a push notification stating as much there would be 1000 different chains

There are imposters everywhere

Why do alt's and ICO's continue to use it ?

I am uninstalling the app
9  Economy / Exchanges / Bittrex verification on: September 04, 2017, 02:01:36 PM
So I have had a bittrex account for quite some time and went to make a small withdrawal today. Around .25 BTC and come to find out that they changed their terms of service on AUG 1. If you are not verified you are limited to a daily limit of .025

Why ?

US AML laws are for deposits and withdrawals of $10,000 or more

Get ready for the IRS to include Bittrex in their suit with Coinbase so they can get their cut of your gains. Or else link your Bittrex to your Coinbase and link your wallets
10  Other / Meta / Posts deleted by moderator on: June 21, 2017, 01:53:24 PM
I have had 2 posts now that have been deleted off of different boards. They were deleted because it was claimed that they were off topic. I am not spamming and don't post that often.

I can't understand why, they were not off topic and added value to the conversation. Both times it happened days after the posts. Is this done by a bot or is this done manually by the moderator ?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / NEM (XEM) on: May 03, 2017, 07:51:02 PM
I have just recently started to follow this coin. 1 Billiion coins. Massive spike in the price this past month. Many people are talking about it yet I am having a hard time wrapping my head around what exactly if offers. Is this just a pump and dump or should I throw a few $ in now and let it ride
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What would happen to your BTC and Alts if you died today? on: April 26, 2017, 01:47:26 PM
I have accumulated some Bitcoin and other alts. Most of my holdings are in a single wallet yet I have a few on different platforms and one left on an exchange. I have tried to explain this to my spouse yet there is not a full understanding. If I died I am confident that all of this would not be recovered.

This weeks project is to write an encrypted note detailing where are the holdings are and how to access them. Even with access, the knowledge is not there to be able to convert the holdings to fiat if necessary.

What is your situation ?

*Edit* I have added "today" to the subject line of the post because we are all going to die.

Many people responded stating that if they knew they were going to die soon or when they are 60 etc.  they would.... You do not know when you are going to die! I had a serious accident not too long ago that almost killed me and I am not old, not even what I would call middle aged.

Many people also said they have hardware wallets, paper wallets ... Do you have backups outside of your home ?

                            My Solution
I have all of my seed phrases, 2fa restoration numbers and passwords saved in Google Drive. Google, although I hate them, will be around forever. I have saved this in the cloud because if my house were to burn down, everything would be lost. Now I am not confident in the security of Google Drive so it is in a folder that is encrypted with Cryptomator. This is an open source program that works with both Drive and Dropbox.I am also going to make a video showing how to restore the wallet using the seed phrase and also how to restore the 2fa to the google authenticate. Along with a detailed list on what coins I have and where they are located. This list I will update each time I purchase a new coin.
