1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to calculate coins per hour? on: May 29, 2017, 09:27:41 PM
Think the title explains it well enough, im trying to calculate coins per hour on ETH and ZEC but haven't found the formula for it, everything on google says use one of the tools, this is not my goal here.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to spot if a GPU is good for mining on: May 29, 2017, 02:54:04 AM
Hey guys, im looking at buying the EVGA G2 850W but im not sure how to tell if it'll be fine for 24/7 80% load usage.
Im also not sure how to compare it to other psus.
Any pointers on how to compare them?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to reduce core voltage when targeting a Linux distro as my OS on: May 27, 2017, 10:31:21 AM
Hey guys,

So im trying to reduce my power usage since im very close to the limit after doing BIOS flashing but I havn't been able to figure out how to do this when targetting a Linux distro as my OS

My GPU's are Nitro+ 570's

I've tried using SRBPolaris and setting the voltage in there but after applying the bios I noticed that my voltage did not change
I've also tried using the Claymores argument that sets the core voltage but this also had not noticeable effect on Wattage usage or in monitoring software
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to send commands/get data from Claymore's miner over local network? on: May 19, 2017, 10:02:02 PM
I've tried looking around but there is very little information on what Claymore's does over the network.
I see the output here http://localhost:3333/ but  I assume there's some other endpoint for less horribly formatted information. As for sending commands, I have no idea, i've tried sending POST requests at the same url but never get a response.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Burst + ETH at the same time on: May 14, 2017, 08:05:02 AM
Hey guys, so I have a couple of 570's that I'm mining on and a lot of HDD's laying around so I was thinking of starting to mine Burst, so was just wondering if any has some experience doing this or if it's even a good idea to mine both Coins at the same time
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ideas for reducing noise from APW3+ on: May 12, 2017, 02:30:11 AM
So I brought the APW3+ PSU from Bitmain because of it's high efficiency and good price but totally overlooked the noise it produces. So now im looking for ways to try reduce the noise from it, it dosen't need to be whisper quiet since it's in a room far away, but reducing it by at least a little bit is needed.
How have you guys tackled such problems?
One thing I saw mentioned was putting in a small resistor so the fan has a lower RPM, any reasons why I shouldn't attempt this?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Does memory errors reported in HWINFO actually indicate a problem? on: May 09, 2017, 08:46:01 PM
So I've been overclocking my cards and i've noticed that once I go up to about 2100 on the memory frequency I start getting memory errors reporting on HWINFO, about 1000 errors over 5 minutes but claymores doesn't complain so I'm wondering if this is something to be concerned about?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Anyone used the Bitmain APW3+ for powering GPU's? on: May 01, 2017, 10:34:43 PM
I was having a look on ebay for server PSU's but a lot of them are of questionable quality and very expensive international shipping, so I was considering using the one from Bitmain.
I know it'll probably be fine to use but wanted to check if anyone's had any issues with it.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Using an old Dell Optiplex to mine with on: April 29, 2017, 05:31:36 AM
Hey guys, so im looking at buying some old Dell Optiplexes to run my GPU mining setup. I was just wondering if this is legit thing?
From what I can tell they have 3 PCI-E slots each which and turns about half the price per slot than if I did a 7 slot Mobo + CPU

Is there anything about the old BIOS on them that might stop me from being able to mod the GPU's?
Anything else I should be aware of using old tech like this to mine?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / First Mining Rig on: April 28, 2017, 04:15:00 AM
Hey guys, so im looking at buying my first mining rig and just wanted someone to review it.
Two things im uncertain about:
-1000W PSU is going to be enough to power the 7 470s' but if not then I can grab the 1200W one
-What brand memory the cards have, the website says "Manufacturer Part No: 11256-01-20G" but that's not like the P/N's i've seen around explaining what brand it is, like (A1637)

Other things to note ust note:
-Those prices are in NZD sorry
-I've just got the one GPU there but planning on buying 7 in total since that's what the board can handle
