apparently there was another bitcoin hardfork besides super bitcoin on the 12th which i also heard nothing of until after the fork.

A new bitcoin fork called United Bitcoin has been announced by a few prominent cryptocurrency luminaries that aims to improve the mechanics of the original bitcoin software. United Bitcoin was forked on December 12, 2017 at block height 498777 and the creators claim it will feature an 8MB block size, Lightning Network support, Segregated Witness, and the ability to process smart contracts.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / EU Markets Agency Warns New Crypto Coins Could Prove Worthless on: November 13, 2017, 03:05:39 PM
Europe’s top markets regulator has warned investors about the pitfalls of buying newly issued crypto coins, an experimental and unregulated form of online crowd funding particularly used by start-up businesses.

The European Securities and Markets Watchdog (ESMA) said on Monday such Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) were unregulated, volatile, not transparent and technologically untested.

“ICOs are extremely risky and highly speculative investments,” the agency said, adding there was a risk of “the total loss of your investment”.

“Many of the coins or tokens ... have no intrinsic value other than ... to use them to access or use a service/product,” said the agency, warning coin issuers they may be subject to existing regulations.

After Swiss and Wall Street regulators, ESMA is the latest to demand tighter scrutiny of cryptocurrencies. China has banned ICOs.

By creating and issuing digital tokens, entrepreneurs can sometimes raise tens of millions of dollars within hours - with little regulatory oversight. Token holders are generally not given a share in a project or security.

ICOs have fueled a rapid rise in the value of all cryptocurrencies, from about $17 billion at the start of the year to a record high of close to $180 billion in early September.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Exchanges Coinbase, Bitfinex Issue Guidance Before SegWit2X Hard Fork on: October 08, 2017, 02:46:19 AM
The debate over whether the Segwit2X hard fork on the Bitcoin chain should be implemented or not has become increasingly heated on social media and among industry pundits.

Many have called for a rejection of the previously ratified New York Agreement after the peaceful activation of SegWit, while others have claimed that Segwit2X is a necessary fork for change.

Today, two major exchanges issued statements regarding their position. Because exchanges provide support for users in both camps, they must remain centrist, while still advising clients regarding what to do with Bitcoin.

i noticed they have no stance on this coming bitcoin gold fork. i guess we will have to have our own wallet for that ?
