101  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I am temporarily wearing an unpaid, unsolicited Chipmixer signature ad on: January 12, 2020, 02:27:18 AM
Well, sure, but i think that the point is that that's impossible. Let's suppose an auditor checks Chipmixer's infrastructure- and then gives "the green light"; Chipmixer could, if they wanted to, simply change some of the source code. Any of the current mixers could.
This is true unless we implement off-chain cryptography ie. blinded bearer certs. If we do - you can prove unlinkability without checking our code.

For the most ironic of countless petty examples that I have recently seen all over the Internet, observe how a a technical discussion on tor.stackexchange was cut short with extreme rudeness
Or they may be scared of being linked with "money laundering". There are still some people that using https or VPN is "hacking".

We have contacted nullius about developing Chaumian bank.
102  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report - ChipMixer.com on: January 12, 2020, 01:33:48 AM
Hello

After investigation we have discovered that session awarded with chips was started 5 hours after deposit transaction. While destroying session ends our contract responsibility and funds were already used by other (lucky) user - we award you full value voucher for 178 mBTC.

Unfortunately I do not have a ProtonMail at the moment, is there any way to resolve this issue on the forum, or will I need to get a mail adress?
ProtonMail is not required. Any email will do.
No PGP encryption required. Plain text will do.

Quoting myself to ensure oxhorn44 reads this: I've sent you a PM with a new Protonmail account (created using Tor). I didn't set a recovery email, but I have used my own email (LoyceValenzuela@gmail.com) to receive the verification code.
I'm not sure if this gives my own email any recovery powers, please check all settings thoroughly (and change the password before sending any emails!).
Thank you. This is more than anyone would expect you to do.

Tor project have plan what should be fixed, idea how to do that and vague idea how exactly to do that. Issue is 7 months old - it will not be ready this year.

All support emails are answered. If you didn't get response, please send us another email or private message in forum.

We're still under heavy DDOS. We're working on it.

the session was restored, all the chips were credited back, thanks Chip Mixer for decency

Where did the support answer you? they don’t respond to mail, the admin was on the forum and did not respond to the private message ((((

I can't find your email and your private message was sent few minutes before your post without any details. Please send us another email and PM with your deposit address or session token.

It's not fake security, it's just a protection from multiscam, in case i'll get scammed by chipmixer i can prove it to protect other ppl form using scam service, but current chipmixer site doesn't allow me to do that, they can scam money easy and just say that i deposit to wrong address covering it by "reputation" in this forum.

Being different than other mixers is valid excuse not to offer Letter of Guarantee. For example ChipMixer does not offer LoG because it is incompatible with chip withdrawal idea. It would be nice to have an additional security measure but sometimes you just cannot do that.

Letter of Guarantee works because:
- deposit address is public
- withdrawal address(es) is public
- transactions (deposit, withdrawal) are public
- all data is known beforehand and can be signed

If mixer does not send withdrawal transaction - user publishes LoG and everybody can verify:
- signature is correct
- deposit was made
- withdrawal was incorrect

You didn't understand my proposal, there should be 2 letters for this type of mixer (private keys based), one before deposit - one after. First letter prove that address generated by chipmixer, second one - private keys.
You still didn't answer: how should i prove that address generated by chipmixer in case they'll silently change it after large deposit?

With your proposal ChipMixer signs letter that contains address. User say they did not receive chips. They publish signed letter that address is ChipMixer address. ChipMixer says they released chips. Who is lying? Nobody knows - only known thing is that it was ChipMixer address and funds were deposited. User cannot prove they did not receive chips. ChipMixer cannot prove they released chips. What kind of guarantee is that?

Second letter - signed private keys - does not do anything for guarantee. If user received chips - they would not show second letter. If they did and ChipMixer show second letter - ChipMixer can sign anything they want - it does not prove anything.

Why the hell is your site hosted on the clearweb and only additionally on Tor?
Our site is hosted on Tor and only additionaly on clearweb.
Clearweb site allows clearnet users to get some privacy. We suggest all to use Tor.

With an unrelated .com and a Tor .onion on an unknown server you could make sure that the mixes will always be private.
Should we advertise that unrelated .com or keep it secret? How does it make mixes private?

For transparency reason - there is a scam accusation against ChipMixer active:

112  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ChipMixer is scam now - 1BTC stoled on: August 08, 2019, 12:12:38 AM
Yuri Jhonny is correct. He visited our service, deposited BTC to our deposit address and our service did not give him chips nor vouchers. We are sorry for that. He received his chips after support intervention.

We are investigating what went wrong. We will update this post.
113  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: July 10, 2019, 12:35:45 AM
What was the reason behind this outage?
After some small research I noticed that large amounts were send to chipmixer, which resulted in the existing chips running out?
Yes. Each time ChipMixer is out of chips is due to more deposits than produced chips.

And the chip creating is not automated (Perhaps the deposit wallets are on an airgapped machine and that's why?)
(Basing that on the fact that it sometimes takes up to a week until a deposit gets "chipped")
Chip creation is not directly affected by demand. If it was and same size chips were created when same size are withdrawn - it would be trackable on-chain and less private.

I would argue that some transparency is in the best interest of everyone.
We do believe that ChipMixer is most transparent mixer. We provide information how our mixing work and most important - why.

To clarify simudrone situation

simudrone deposits A+B mBTC -  receives A mBTC chip and B mBTC chip
he withdraws both chips - receives both private keys (funded) but sweeps one of them (B)
he sends angry email to return his BTC to his address - provides address C

support check his session
- sweeping transaction is already confirmed
- one chip (A) is not sweeped
support sweeps chip A to address C
support writes email explaining what happened, why chip A was not sweeped and that chip A was manually sweeped to customers address C

simudrone claims he never wanted it and that address C is not his

Quick update for those who encountered maintenance mode

1. Maintenance is over and everything works except
2. Sweeping is still broken and maintenance did not help. Please use private keys yourself (as we always encourage) instead of sweeping with website for now.

I tried this service today to mix around 50 USD.
I sent to the wallet provided and once deposited, I selected to withdraw all.
I imported the keys and I get around 48 USD, meaning I lost around 4% of the money sent.
Today upon creation of chips, one transaction got delayed because mempool grew up quickly. It left our transaction with much lower fees than others and all new transactions had higher and higher fees.

We have bumped the fee for it and it is confirmed now. Please check your wallet. Private keys are already imported so Electrum should notice confirmation. If that's not a case, try to recover session using session token and reimport keys.

If you still have a problem, please contact us by email and provide deposit address and/or session token, we will help.
