21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has anyone proposed a coin that adjusts its supply to stabilize prices? on: June 30, 2013, 03:22:38 PM
this one is based on supply and demand through integrated decentralized exchange system:

Now if people are only allowed to buy in (without the ability to cash out in fiat), from legal point of view, I'd imagine the process would be simple.

Each EMU will be treated like a digital product/commodity that the exchange (acting as the merchant) can just sell at a certain price in $ fiat, like selling stock photos, ebooks, audio files.

Then the network can just function like a core framework on which other third party entities can establish shops to sell EMU (similar to how ppl can simply install ecommerce plugins to sell things with WordPress - but wordpress itself is not the merchant, nor shopping cart).

The legal challenge is when ppl want to cash out in $ fiat - now it suddenly touches the money laundering regulations because it has become a two way money transfer system.

I'm not a lawyer, so this may sound dump, but how about making those two entities separate and independent from each other?
  • Entity A to handle all buy in orders
  • Entity B handles all cash out orders

==> Could entity A and B in this case classified as auction service providers, instead being legally treated as money exchanges?
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] nibble (NBL) - New logo - - New Client in works. on: June 30, 2013, 10:41:06 AM
explanation : not intending to dump the blue bird all together just wanted to simply an official nibble logo , and no fear from Twitter that was never going to happen, this way the white nibble shrinks much better.
White represents freedom , blue trust - average investors will warm to that much more - as we have to decide those things here before we market nibble outside -

Simple, plain white and blue, does ring the bell Wink

  • Decentralized P2P exchange

this is perhaps the most innovative idea of all cryptos to date.

How would it work in practice?

Assuming I'm a regular Joe who just got interested in emunie, how do I buy emu?

Where does the demand information come from?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that it's based on transaction information over some time frame and some fun math is applied.
Some complex and long discussion going on here:

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [eMunie] Latest update, lots of new features and improvements. on: June 30, 2013, 03:55:30 AM
UPDATE: This infographic illustrates how eMunie Block Tree (not chain, unlike Bitcoin) Transaction model is resistant to 51% attack:

So lets say originally the network has 1 Million eMus, and demand indicates it needs to issue another 1M eMu, based on explanation, the system has to bloat 3 times in total eMu, not 2 times, is that correct?

  • 1M existing eMu
  • 1M hatcher's earning to meet new demand
  • 1M+1% interest rate distributed to existing 1M eMu above
=> Total eMu in network now is 3M eMu?

So while there is huge advantage for early EMU holders (very high interest rate when networks grows fast), their share of total EMU in the network will be diluted over-time. But providing the price of each EMU remains stable or keeps increasing steady, there is still huge investment gain purely from high dynamic interest rate, correct?

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Prerelease Announcement - Introducing Prime Proof-of-Work on: June 29, 2013, 06:11:44 AM
Would be interesting to see how this is received by crypto community.

As far as I'm concerned though, the days of pure POW single block chain hashing structure is numbered.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] eMunie (EMU) - NOT a BitCoin fork/clone - call for beta testers on: June 22, 2013, 11:23:51 AM
I have heard the system has been restructured around interest and miner's earning, it's supposed to be a lot better than Bitcoin and will function like a true currency.
I wonder what will be the new launch date.

What kind of miners will be  right for mining  ??  CPU  or  GPU miners ?
I asked similar question before "SHA256 or scrypt", but this seems to be a totally different system.
You'll need everything: CPU, RAM, HDD, etc... except GPU!

For the first day....

Tell you what once my EE gets a breather I will release a gpu kernel for it for everyone.

If you can GPU our algorithm in a day, with a 100% performance gain (that's 2x faster) I'll personally give you $1000.

Infact, if you can GPU it in a week, I'll give you $1000
would be interesting to see how this thing holds up to scrutiny and hacking attempts of all the BTC devs after launch!
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][DGC][FBD] Free Bank of Digitalcoin ~ Risk Averse DGC Investments on: June 20, 2013, 01:47:47 PM
I assume this is like a trust fund, where the money used to buy in will not be spent on anything else, so in case the Joe decides to sell back at original price, you still have a way to refund him?

"Transaction comments are currently limited to 140 characters. "

Definitely more innovative than FTC or CHN.  Congratulations!

Excellent choice on the number of characters 140... same as twitter!

Lots of potential uses.

I may just consider adding this feature to ZenithCoin.
There was already another project with this idea, nothing innovative.

You know what's bad?  If we were judging coins by logos alone, this would seriously be a major contender...

how about this?

Here is another design inside sealed plastic box, supposed to be weather proof, very compact and gives stable temperature control:

http://ecoinomist.com/images/gpu-mining-rig.jpg

Those are very nice, but not weather proof. Moisture will still gather around the intake and exhaust fans.

You can get the same filter materials used in aircons/humidifiers to filter out the moist.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Saphhire 7950 Vapor x OC settings on: June 14, 2013, 12:16:21 AM
Yes I read that one before, my same setting seamed to work for Feathercoin and I was getting way more block than I should the other day. Just a little pissed off that I still have no ltc block so far. It could just be bad luck.

i havent had a block in 3 days with 50,000kh going on it ( i normaly get 1 or 2 every day )

Well, mine is only 16.5 MH/s so that's like 1/3 of yours. But is it normal for you to have no blocks for that long usually? Or is it something changed in Litecoin block that we misconfigured with old settings?

Hi Zac, just wondering what your litecoin.conf look like? I have 24 7970 and have been solo mining litecoin for 7 days now without a block (seems a little odd for estimated 2.2 days average to find one).

My litecoin.conf file is like this:

rpcpassword=xxx
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.1.*

rpcport=2222
port=9333
daemon=1
gen=0

block_nTime=1317972665
block_nNonce=2084524493
