67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RoyalCoin - a new scrypt based coin on: May 09, 2013, 01:25:05 PM
Just wondering, what is definition of big vs small miner these days?
1Mh/s = small?
2Mh/s = mid?
4+Mh/s = big?

I would say :
1-10 - small
10-30 - mid
+30 - big

LoL - where does that estimate come from? Then most people would fall under small. Don't you suppose to have mid as the average majority?

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 4600 JKC for ? Make me an offer. on: May 09, 2013, 06:12:58 AM
Just like the thread says.  Make me an offer for 4600 JKC.

Edit:  More or less an auction thread.  Keeping thread open for an hour or two.

A post like this from a Hero member means either JKC is taking off or it's solely to create some buzz around JKC! I'd rather keep it for now until exchange comes out.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Introducing Pudding Coin (PDC) on: May 09, 2013, 06:07:45 AM
I feel like creating some teacoin to go with it.
Hello All!

I'm in the last stages of creating Pudding Coin (PDC). This coin is specifically used to buy pudding at local businesses, once it becomes a world wide currency.

I'm thinking of setting the exchange rate to something like 1 PDC = 5 BTC.

Pudding coins cannot be divided, they are to be used in purchasing bulk pudding orders worldwide.

Please let me know if you have any questions!!

Dear ForShow5,

I am a pudding consultant working for PepsiCo. As a businessman and employee of one of the world's foremost pudding facilities, I am happy to announce that I would like to personally sponsor PuddingCoin as the currency of choice for pudding and pudding-related sales worldwide. I have a couple questions, though:

-Does PuddingCoin support other gelatinous based snack and food items (such as yogurt, or JELLO?)
-Can you redeem PuddingCoin at your local Pudding factory for USD or will there be exchanges (I think a good name for an exchange would be PUD-PHILE.com)
-Do you prefer vanilla or chocolate?

I am very pleased at the turn of events. I believe the worlds pudding supply should be peer to peer, anonymous and free of government regulation. With PuddingCoin I believe this could finally happen and user in a pudding spectacular world for the rest of us.

-Andy Clement

P.S. Will it support PoP (proof of pudding?)

hahahahha.

BitBar "Premine" allegations

It is always helpful for new coins to be analyzed and vetted out by the community. In doing this, subSTRATA has brought up some potential issues with BitBar's launch. Let's break down his allegations and put this to rest.

1. 60 blocks after the genesis block were premined

This was indeed true, as a testing error. See here for more information, as well as the tester's admission of error. Those bitbars are being donated as a bounty towards the exchange. See the official launch topic here.

I can improve the logo (turn into vector graphic for unlimited scaling without resolution loss) or redesign it with banners and slogans for some of that bounty.

•difficulty re-target: once every ~30 minutes

Instead of time based retarget, why not make it dynamic diff retarget like BitBar - that seems to work a lot better at stopping pump and dump miners.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin and FPGA/ASIC resistance on: May 08, 2013, 01:38:39 AM
It is just a matter of time... there will allways be someone smarter
- just my humble opinion

As litecoin has already changed the algo once, they can change it again.  It is doubtful that much can be done beyond GPU's with scrypt due to the memory requirements.  You could create an ASIC but with the RAM requirements it would be large and one quick change to the formula would increase the ram requirements in an instant killing the usefulness of the ASIC.

Hopefully that's the case when new scrypt Asics come out. Otherwise, I predict new encryption algorithm will come out to replace Litecoin.
