Anybody else having a hard time connecting to pool today, haven't been able to for the past 3 hours.
They supposedly had a DDOS attack, so they've been having problems since this morning. In the website, there is a webchat link at the bottom of each page, you can get a straight answer in there.

Just for your info, Thistled, many people mining on this pool have been burned. Now, of course, there is always people ready to eat a bit of shit, big time, all the time. Probably you do not want to be one of those, little boy. May be you should enroll on your school's 101 - Pools and bitcoin mining. Anyway, boy, wherever you mine, I wish you the best of luck mining. Here is a list of pools: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_poolsand also of course the excellent organofcorti thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104664.0Good luck boy, Scotland is a beautiful land, sure you deserve a good pool for mining as well. What do you mean by burned? what happened to those who got burned?

Hello, I'm running Linux mint 15 xfce, and I followed all your steps to install MultiMiner, but I get stuck when when I tried to run mono MultiMiner.Win.exe , am I supposed to cd to the unzipped folder and then run the command? because I did but It said file doesn't exist or something like that. I looked in the unzipped folder there is no multiminer.win.exe file. Thanks in advance.
Make sure you are downloading the binaries from the releases page and not the source code from the source repo: http://releases.multiminerapp.comThank you, I was following the installation instructions on the website. It wasn't clear enough about making sure downloading the binaries. I'm going to give it a try and report back.

Can someone tell me if adding an extra usb fan to keep the jalapeno cool would improve the hash rate or make the chips last longer? is it worth the trouble?

BTC-E
Ok I knew about that one, from what i know is only people trading with people. is that the only way to sell coins? isn't there like an exchange or bank, where I can take my coins and sell them for dollars.
|
|
|
This applies to any cryptocurrency, let's say I build my machines and start mining. and I built up to about 1000 coins. Decided it is a good time or I need to sell my coins. Where is the right and best place where I can go and sell those coins? you can specify the kind of coins if necessary.

@bitcoinger thanks for the list. What i'm going to do is buy both the saphire vapor x, but one of them will be bought by a relative, so I can get both discounts and games decreasing the value by $200. I rather keep the mobo I selected, it has more pci conections just in case i want to add more cards to it later on.

I changed my mind about using milk crates, after reading some guides, it seems pretty easy and straight forward to build plus it saves me money not having to buy a case. Also switched from saphire vapor x to xfx cards which have a better price. Also switched the msi 970 mobo to asrock 970. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/thehulkk/saved/1wd1CPU: AMD Sempron 145 2.8GHz Single-Core Processor ($35.98 @ Outlet PC) Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($74.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Patriot Signature 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($28.87 @ Amazon) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card (2-Way CrossFire) ($263.98 @ Newegg) Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card (2-Way CrossFire) ($263.98 @ Newegg) Wireless Network Adapter: Encore ENUWI-1XN42 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Wi-Fi Adapter ($9.98 @ Outlet PC) Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($74.99 @ Newegg) Total: $752.77

@perlboy thanks for the reply, but no thanks, there is a big difference between $125 and $1000 +.

Oh well it was worth the try, the price seemed pretty good, but there are too many uncertainties, I could buy a new power supply, the risers and a crate. I had another topic about building a new mining rig with new parts for about $900, I think for me that's the best way to go.

http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/2850_specs.pdfI found this add on craigslist selling this servers for about $125 with 2 intel xeon 2.8 ghz, 2 36gb ultra 320 15k hard drive, and 4gb ram. There are little more expensive ones if more ram and hard drive space needed. So my questions are if is it possible to add two 7950 radeon cards to these servers? and is it worth it to even try?

I think I'm intermediate with Linux, Ubuntu in particular, I've been using it for about 9 years, usually I'm very good finding solutions and following directions.
I'm trying to get xubuntu working. Here is an initial guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Gw7YPYgMgNNU42skibULbJJUx_suP_CpjSEdSi8_z9U/edit?pli=1#I suggest you join ubuntuforums.com and read up. You'll also have to get that USB Wifi adapter working, and it might be a pain depending on the company/model. Thanks for the advice, I think I had that bookmarked somewhere. I think going Linux saves me about $200, because I don't have to buy a hard drive or a Windows copy. I do enjoy a challenge once in a while. Refurbished hard drives literally cost $15-20 off ebay, not sure about US pricing but in the UK they're dirt cheap. And windows can be err, you know.... I used to download a lot of "err" files through torrents or p2p, until my ip started sending me warning letters to stop, until they cutoff my internet. So now I just try to do everything legit.

Since I'm going to use a USB, I'm not sure which one should I use Lubuntu or Xubuntu?
Depends how confident you are with Linux. After a lot of messing, it would have been far more price efficient for my time just to buy a $15 hard drive [which I did.] I think I'm intermediate with Linux, Ubuntu in particular, I've been using it for about 9 years, usually I'm very good finding solutions and following directions.
