1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 02, 2018, 01:36:54 PM

Depends where you found it. eBay is safe for a buyer, I've heard not safe for a seller, Amazon is safe for a buyer. Are you paying in coin or credit card?

It is listed on CL.   Not going to bother with it I decided.  Not worth the risk.   He was asking for fiat payment in yen.

So I sold off the last of my ASIC a few years back but have been considering buying a few new toys recently.   I've found an s9 that does the 13.5 TH for sale as new.   They are only asking 1600 USD.  To me this is fishy as hell given the prices I've seen on ebay.   They claim to be shipping from the UK.  Worth the role of the dice? Smiley

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tomorrow 31th May (Japan time) will open internet giant GMO Btc trading platform on: May 30, 2017, 10:56:42 PM
Will this affects price?

GMO is a Japanese trading platform for Forex, Equities, Stocks and now Bitcoin, it is insured for hacker attacks and regulated by Japanese Financial Services Agency

in japan bitcoin is already very big they use it like they use their jpy or yen, it's hard to think that it would make any difference there in japan, if it was another country where bitcoin is not very known perhaps yes, but nonetheless it's a good thing more exchange more possibility to have more people that buy bitcoin

ummm, no they don't.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you convince people into you using Bitcoin? on: May 26, 2017, 11:55:13 AM
Kind of hard to convince people when it is a huge pain in the ass to even buy them.   And the greed around the scene has gotten out of hand.   ATM owners charging 8 percent commission, jumping through hoops to try to buy on an exchange or meeting some freak in an alley in a local buy.  Until they are easily accessible why would any normal person want to use them on a regular basis?   Hard to get, so of course when you get them you are going to hold on to them not use them.

9  Economy / Lending / So is this the point the lending sub implodes? on: May 25, 2017, 01:58:23 PM
Feel sorry for anyone who has done a loan not tied to fiat rates.   If this trend keeps up I can't see many people honoring their existing commitments.

The first day of Marks new life, hope the bunk wasn't to harsh after the penthouse. Hope I can send some mail at times just to cheer him up a bit.

Great idea, we should start a snail mail campaign sending photos of how great life is on the outside, once he gets settled in as being the cell block gaijin pet.

Yup, he was arrested this morning.   Woot, he ain't going to like Japanese prison.   Rot in there you fucker.   Here in JP you can sit in prison for up to 23 days without being charged.

Has anyone seen/heard about the status of Kobayashi making Tibanne bankrupt as well for their debt to Gox?

Check mtgox, it's all published. In short, yes. All companies of Mark are going to get into bankrupcy soon, because he has't paid any money back.

Ya thanks, just noticed in the creditors meeting posting he mentions it.    Looks like they may even do later payouts if additional funds are ever recovered in future.

16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kraken Gox Claims Starting? on: April 22, 2015, 07:43:01 PM
Yup, people have started submitting claims.   Just read the gox site.
Also, just received an email regarding that - they said they offered anyone who claimed something among the lines of a "transaction fees coupon".

I have had no email from gox do you mean kraken emailed you ?

I did my claim last night.   In my case I received a promotional email from Kraken about the fees coupon and in that email it mentioned Gox Claim initiation.   I kicked off the claim process from within the Kraken site.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Has What It Takes To Replace Fiat? on: April 22, 2015, 10:43:19 AM
Bitcoin has replaced the dollar for me.

How? Do you not use dollars at all anymore? I don't think its currently easy to exist solely on bitcoins right now.

Does it matter that idiots will continue to use fiat? Some people still have landline phones.

I don't think it makes people idiots. I would love to use exclusively bitcoin but it's just not possible for me to do so currently, and paper money is still useful for certain transactions. I still have landline as well as a mobile and skype etc mainly because it's cheaper to use than a mobile and costs very little to have with my internet package so I still use that when at home.

Actually, I think its the other way around.  You'd have to be an idiot to be all in on BTC, unless you don't have much wealth to protect.    It is slow, with no protections, no financial legislation protecting you from uninsured asshats running away with your money,  and it is volatile.
18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Accepting MtGox Bankruptcy Claims on: April 22, 2015, 10:25:05 AM
Okay, so what are the exact terms? Can I claim FIAT deposits? BTC held there? What kind of fee are they're going to retain from my stash? Can't seem to find those information in the mail. Although it sound like a tempting idea!

You can choose Fiat or BTC during the claim process.   Although they mention that there is currently no guarantee that they will be able to pay back in BTC.   Guess they are scoping the interest of how many creditors are willing to accept it.   I didn't see any mention of Kraken "handling" fees.   I suspect they just bathe in the publicity of it all.
