1  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 3 Gridseed Orbs, 1 GawMiner Fury Cheap AF on: June 08, 2017, 01:16:05 PM
These are fully functional ASICs.  Had them for years now, have no use for them.  If I had a couple little solar panels, I'd run these for fun, but at this point they're more of a collector's item.

Includes the following:

1 Gold Gridseed 5 Chip Orb, power supply and USB Cable
2 Silver Gridseed 5 Chip Orbs, power supplies and USB Cables
1 GawMiner Fury (AKA Blizzard) and power supply.

Throw me an offer.  Shipping from USA.  Shipping cost negotiable...

Hi, is there a guide somewhere to update bfgminer 5.2.0-13-g487bbfa to latest version 5.4? i'm on linux mint and whatever i do, i cant update  Undecided

Easiest thing to do is save your startup file somewhere (.conf file?) and then "sudo rm -rf" your bfgminer folder.  Then "git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git" and rebuild from there.  It always downloads the latest version updated within github.  That worked great for me.  Run it on a Rasp. Pi.  Took a while to build because it's an older Pi, but works like a charm.

Looks like you're trying to mine SHA256 Algo, but you're submitting scrypt work...  Get the newest BFGMiner and make sure when you start the program, you're mining the right algorithm that you've selected...so Bitcoin = SHA256 (no callout when starting the program) and if you're mining a scrypt based coin, make sure to use --scrypt in the batch file, or your linux command line, or however you happen to be running this.

Can I change the voltage of Gridseed orbs and Zeus Blizzards(Gaw Fury) using the new BFGMiner or do I have to actually go in and put new resistors in them?

I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but how do I run Gridseed 5 Chip miners on both SHA and Scrypt on 2 different pools through BFGMiner?
My understanding is that while the Gridseed ASIC supports both algorithms, the 5-chip orb is not designed to support SHA2 (due to heat).
Regardless, BFGMiner does not support running it in SHA2 mode.

it won't i had one or two it will but if your not careful you can cook it , using both modes, if that' s the pod ?, it is poss but don't it's a  waste of power and needs major cooling.

might have to use a older version of bfg or bfg and cg for both modes to gather or find a bfg fork that has both modes on by default ,same with cg .

Okay, just checking.  I was curious.  I scrypt mine anyways with my super awesome 3 Orbs and 1.4 Mh/s Fury...mostly for fun and to see if I can remember how to get my Rasp. Pi setup, configure things, and have fun.  Thanks!

I'm about to buy, so sell now at the top.  Price to drop back to 215 in 10 minutes.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 25, 2015, 10:50:44 AM
Everybody, get ready for a massive dump, because I just bought back in. Somehow what I do always makes the price do the opposite  of what is good for me.

This is exactly how it works for me.  I'm THE best counter indicator there is.  Sold before the huge boom @ 240 back in early '13, kicked myself in the ass.  Bought back in not that long ago around $300, sold at $250, bought at $230, sold at $215.  Every time I buy, the market drops and every time I sell, the market goes up.  I need to have 2 accounts so I can buy on one and sell on the other and be covered either way.

So I have all these gridseed orbs, cables, power supplies from way back.

Are they worth recycling for aluminum scrap?

I'm in the US.  How many you got?

a) Miners are very picky about pools, if something is wrong they switch. This is not "in theory", it happens all the time. Do you remember Ghash.io from last summer? Where are they now?

b) PoS has a huge image problem and it's unproven on a large scale.

A) I dunno, haven't mined BTC since before ASICs came out and difficulty and electricity costs skyrocketed.

B) PoS has image problem?  PoSV is the solution.  Reddcoin is a PoSV coin that gains coin-age over time, but slows down tremendously if the coins aren't moved.  Basically, the more you spend, the more you earn.  Roughly 5% "inflation" on your coins.  Easy to get and there are different wallets available, such as the Browser wallet for google chrome (uses a seed), the typical QT wallet, and the Social Wallet that is connected to twitter, the IRC channel, etc... plus a few new features yet to be seen in cryptocurrencies, are going to make this a breakout coin.  Best part: I can stake on a raspberry pi.  No spending stupid amounts of money on ASICs that will be useless in a month, no driving down the price because of selloffs to pay for electricity for those ASICs.  5 watts of power to secure the network, not a few megawatts.  Plus, I'll actually break even.  I don't know one person that has purchases an ASIC recently that has made their money back.  Early adopters of the ASICs that didn't buy from BFL might have had a chance, or those who sodl when BTC was > $1200 made their money back, but anyone who's purchased anything to mine BTC using BTC will never make that back.  Better to buy BTC or sell shovels.

I know with BFGMiner, you can specify which gridseed to use by selecting the COM port it's associated with.  I think for CGminer (it's been a while since I've used it) you can select just 1 gridseed, using something like --gridseed=\\.\COMx to select that specific gridseed.  Then open the second instance and use the other com port that the other gridseed is attached to.  I can't remember exactly how to run it because I use BFGMiner and Luke-JR answers those questions super fast.

Hi, how do I run cgminer for a specific gridseed device? I have 2 gridseed 5 chips. GSD 0 and GSD 1 appears, how do I cgminer to run GSD 0 on one pool, and cgminer GSD 1 on another pool? I have cgminer 3.7.2 downloaded and already tried -d 0, -d 1 doesn’t work. Thanks

You have to run 2 instances of CGminer to let each unit hash separately, or run them both, add the second pool and use something like load balance.  It won't be the same though as running 2 instances of CGMiner
