182  Economy / Goods / Re: Prevention is better than a cure. Please escrow. on: May 04, 2013, 07:45:01 AM
Newb/Jr's listen to this advice lol. I believe i have been scammed, I could have avoided the scam if I went with escrow. Unfortunately there are human beings out there who would rather take your money then attain enough intelligence to make their own money.
Report him to the scammers thread. I was following your transaction because I almost sent the guy money too.

I believe his friend on the board is controlled by him too so I'd recommend reporting him too just so he can't use that account to scam someone else.
183  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [Buy/Sell] - Bank / LR / PayPal - Cheap, fast and trusted. on: May 03, 2013, 10:51:53 PM
Just had a perfect transaction with Xch4ng3 through PM. Bought 2BTC at 5% above the Mt. Gox rate through a UK Bank transfer.

Highly recommended. Pleasant transaction.

I will use again.

Thanks very much!

Hi. Paypal isn't too sensible to use due to chargebacks. I've PMed you with a UK-Bank transfer offer. Let me know.

190  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What version of Linux? on: April 27, 2013, 07:38:26 PM
I'd personally recommend ubuntu if you have no linux experience. Even if you do have some experience it is great and the community are really helpful. It's pretty simple to use and if you have windows already installed with no partitions set up you can use ubuntu windows installer so you install ubuntu like a windows program and can uninstall it in the same way but it allows you to have a dual booting computer very easily.

But virtual machines are a great idea as already recommended for picking a distro before installing.
191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: looking to sell some bitcoins for paypal? on: April 27, 2013, 02:39:54 PM
You could ask for a UK bank transfer. Are you just selling at the Mt. Gox rate?
192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: looking to sell some bitcoins for paypal? on: April 27, 2013, 02:28:15 PM
Paypal payments can be reversed. Do a bit of reading before you make a deal. There is a high chance of getting scammed.

194  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scammer] Woodstock on: April 24, 2013, 11:10:19 AM
I sent him BTC2.2.  This is quite a bit setback for me. Running very close to the breadline here and was hoping to resell the coins to make some fiat back.

I assume no one has received anything yet?
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ubuntu on USB - Doesn't Save Anything? on: April 23, 2013, 08:20:08 AM
How did you install it on your USB? There are different methods that can either have persistence by default or you'll need to do something extra to get persistence.

Also remember that if you're only saving the wallet on your USB OS then your wallet could be at risk. USB drives are prone to failing. Ask student x about his thesis!
196  Economy / Lending / Re: looking for a paypal loan, kinda intresing deal as it pays back in BTC on: April 22, 2013, 04:48:26 PM
just for public record i accepted Dougie's load at

So if by 13/05/13 the MTgox weighted average is less than 100 then you'll give me BTC1.2 and if it is over 100 you'll send me BTC1.0 since you'll have sent me BTC0.5 by Friday (26/04/13).

If this is fine then send me your account number and sort code and I'll pay it in.

ill keep the thread updated as often as i pay him back Smiley also got the bank transfer very quick to
Thanks vm1990.

199  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Put the GOX price on a webpage (X) 1.06? on: April 19, 2013, 10:42:27 PM
It shouldn't be hard to implement if you have a bit of knowledge with PHP. Just use strip mtgox page. I'd use a cron task to save the price to a file to save requesting the page too much. The mtgox source code wouldn't be hard to strip with a simple regular expression finding "<li id="highPrice">High:<span>". You could even implement safety netting to stop it going below a certain cost in case mtgox gets hacked or the value drops for some reason.

Even simpler is using the blockchain API but then you have to trust blockchain. Very simple to pull:

These methods could be used to display the cost and if you have even more know how and patience at working out how the shopping cart works you could implement this into the cart.

Shouldn't be too hard. Don't let anyone charge you over the odds to implement it! (although you do want to make sure it's secure if you're giving the script access to your wallet!)
