Hey, just downloaded the GUI wallet and am trying to figure it out. How exactly do I connect to a public node (that way I don't have to sync the blockchain)?
There is lots of metups. It is hard to make them in every village so I guess many need to travel a bit to addend them. ...
I didn't even know that was a thing. I probably won't attend one, but it's neat nevertheless. I guess I just figured that there wouldn't be all that many. Searching is fun sometimes. Today was searching for Monero on Youtube and found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tJ-Lrog7mMMonero, Bitcoin's BadAss cousin Haha that video is incredible. Very nice find

Is there any work on when a new batch of Vega’s will be available? I can’t find these stinking things anywhere.
New models are coming. Sapphire has a nice 3 fan version that ressembles the FURY they had a while back. But until those get on the market....there wont be any for sale methinks. And when they do...profitability is really good so they will fly off the virtual shelves. The ASUS ROG Strix, Sapphire Nitro and the Powercolor Red Devil have been out for a while already lmao. There are people already using them. They sold out imediately as soon as they were made available. There are people already mining with them lol so good lucky trying to buy more than 1/2 at an inflated 60%+ price. Prices are a little crazy but cards are out there. You can grind away on the local secondary markets - craigslist, letitgo, etc. I been fairly successful going that route. If you believe the ads, my local craigslist has 30ish Vegas for sale - granted all used and at 1.5x prices

any idea why xmr stak's hashrate keeps dropping to the point it triggers the auto restart function?
I have 6 vega 64 hashing at about 2kh/s and I set the hashdiff to 600 and it restarts every 20-30mins.
yet on another miner with 5 vega 64s, it seems to last a lot longer (500 hashdiff)
the intensity is set to 1932 for all threads and the fan speeds have been raised to keep HBM temps below 75degC GPU_P7=1408;925 Mem_P3=1100;905 for all vega 64s.
ironically, the vega56 that have been flashed to vega 64 bios seems to do better. (more stable before the autorestart)
Adjust windows settings - no aero, no screen sleep, etc Run off igpu if at all possible If no igpu, try turning down the intensity for the card handling the video I keep temps below 60c. 75c may be too high Could always be a silicon lottery. Try bringing the intensity down a bit if stability is an issue.

Thought I would do a Merry Christmas post as I finally completed my Vega mining setup in my garage. After a brief moment of weakness when I had it for sale - I pushed on and found my 8th card. I probably have room for another 2 cards in each case - but I'd have to up my power supplies. So for now, I'm done. Little over 16,000 h/s. No reboots necessary. Merry Christmas and Happy Mining

Thanks. Still not purchased anything.
Any other advice from anyone?
I wish you luck in getting 8 vegas running on one board. I know some guys had some real headaches getting that many vegas working properly. I encourage you to read through the following threads/guides: Vega thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2002025.0Cast thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2256917.0vega.miningguides.com I opted to build two rigs with 4 cards a pop. Granted, this was before we had figured out how to get more than 4 cards running. However given the choice today, I still might end up choosing two builds over one. Could always expand even more later. Also if you're not going to build your own frame and plan on spending around $80 for a metal one off of ebay, I'd suggest looking into 4U server cases. They're not for everybody and you will have to modify them a bit but I love my two Rosewill 4U cases. Directed airflow with blower style cards is wonderful. My rigs are mounted on a rack in the garage - perfect for me. Though each 4U case can probably only fit say 6 cards comfortably - something to think about.

Hi Guys,
At every reboot of my rig i need to apply settings in Wattman, i just want to know if i can apply automatically by overdriventool, or i need something more?
Thx
Follow this http://vega.miningguides.com/ guide. Wattman is nothing but trouble.... It depends. I have a rig just using wattman and since it never goes down or loses power, it never restarts and just hashes away. rock stable. of course its better to NOT use wattman but whatcanyoudo. After some back and forth, I have opted to install wattman on my rigs. For whatever reason, my stability is way better with wattman installed. Now, I only open it once after the first install to turn off hbcc, crossfire, and follow the old steps to apply my soft table - after that its all overdrive. Works perfectly - never had any hash drop problems either.

Finally got around to configuring a script to restart cards, apply profiles and launch miner.
Curious, if anyone is copying/making a shortcut of this script into startup folder for reset purposes or are y'all just remoting in on restarts and running the script.
I guess I don't see a reason why I couldn't throw the script into the startup folder?

Surprisingly, I've never had problems with second hand gpus. I purchase used (or preferably via retail open box) frequently. I don't think I would purchase a full rig second hand - especially off of ebay. I always personally inspect the used items before purchasing.
Fun fact - I've had to RMA several new parts - never a used one. Lucky I guess...

Love the description
"The funds will be used to start up a cryptocurrency mining farm. Mining farms are need to complete transactions made between coins. I would like to start this farm January 2018. Once the setup is complete, it will mind roughly 21 ethereum a month."

xmr-stak is open-source software, can you point me the place in source code where it is (fast/slow mode depending on drivers version)?
See above post. Stak is slower (~1100h/s) with the 17.11.4 driver vs the blockchain driver. I don't believe that's what they are talking about... Of course the blockchain drivers hash more than 17.11.4 All Red was saying is if you want to play around with the 17.11.4 drivers - XMR-Stak doesn't do a driver check vs Cast which may
