For the sake of following governments action, this was translated from Russia. They are running this message on every channel across the country.

Russia announced their immidiate solutions to corona virus spread and economic losses.
65 years old plus are quarantined to stay inside.
Basic income will be issued to those who've lost work and or supporting families. 12k ruble ($218 CAD) per month and another 5k ruble for each child.
Those who lost jobs will not pay tax for 6 months. Mortgage payments will be put on hold.
Sending money offshore will be taxed 15%.  Shocked
All persons with 1million ruble + (approx 18k CAD) in their bank are to pay a 13% tax on the balance.
Citizens are required to bring supllies to those affected by the 65+ quarantine.
He goes on to assure the people that the government is taking measures to benefit all.

In other news, I see the US FED will airdrop $1,200 to its citizens.
Money printer go Brrrrrr....

Because of quarantine and market crash, I'm expecting a surge of new interest in BTC during the next few weeks.
I think the majority of coins being bought now are likely to serve as long term holdings.

If bitcoin ever had a moment to shine... holy shit, like a key Shocked  History will be made here. Expecting cash to stop being used at businesses.

Guys, I'm not at all religious, but I certainly don't appreciate where this is going.
Like, for real? You have to be shitting me.

I prefer to drop dead right now - than to physically mark me in any way, against my will - like sheep.
Do wake the fuck up. It is matter of freedom. This what is really tested.

Now, the word is going around that it originally started in September and a few people who had nasty "flu" in late 2019 might have had CV instead.

I usually don't get sick at all, but last year around this period, I had a flu like no other.
It was like the cough insisted for a month after a full treatment cycle. My parents also got it, whilst living in another city. Some friends too. ONE fucking YEAR AGO.

Icygreen I think it was, reported something similar a couple of months back (not in Vietnam, before).
Suspected as far back as beginning-mid November in my immediate circles, other cases in December and January, some severe.
A truck driver friend in central Canada was hospitalized on a respirator Jan 10th with all the symptoms with 9+ week recovery and lung scarring. No previous conditions, not confirmed covid-19, they tested blood twice but think tests were not accurate during this time. Its quite possible that this has been in the wild much longer than reported.

Anyone able to recommend a video conference solution with basic privacy in mind?

Free if possible.
10-12 participants needed

A friend wants to onboard us to zoom and I got spooked.

Everyone working remotely:

ZOOM monitors the activity on your computer and collects data on the programs running and captures which window you have focus on.

If you manage the calls, you can monitor what programs users on the call are running as well. It's fucked up.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Hanging in over $6k (barely) after bouncing up and down in the $5.6k-$7.1k range... currently $6222USD/$8925CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I'm wondering if we might spend a little time going sideways here. I feel the panic dump is over but the immediate correction back up may be over too. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This is why hodlers are perhaps better prepared for the Covid-19 restrictions. We're accustomed to waiting. Patience is a virtue.

Go Bitcoin go.

On my way back home, wife denied boarding to Canada despite marriage certificate and all visa documents. Booked another flight for her to her country in short order. Boarding at the same time at neighboring gates. Just as she steps through the gate to board her plane, I receive information that they've made a mistake and she's now allowed under the family exception.
That's what I was trying to fucking tell you at the desk you imbecile!
No amount of protest can bring her back to the gate from the plane. I watch our planes depart in different directions. Some pure bullshit today. WTF

Wow. Just wow.

This is one reason why we're staying put here in the jungle. Too many idiots in a position to fuck you over with their stupidity. My heart goes out to you. How long do you think it will take to get back together?
Thanks Jimbo and dudes for the sentiments.
Some things are too poetic for protest. We've decided to  weather this out separated for a month or so and hope for the best. She's got plenty of family to be with, a country home and is using the opportunity as such.  It was a shitty adjustment to make in the airport and we saw at least 3 brokenhearted couples grieving together on various benches near check in. Alas, I release, a divine intervention I had no control over and a quarantined bachelor I'll be.

thus they are not to impressed by the Fed's action to 0% or more likely it is a 'oh sh*t" the Fed dropped it to 0% we are looking like a real crisis here

I really wish our President would shut the fuck up. Every time his mouth opens things get worse.

Maybe that is the plan.
I've muted him (all of them) on twitter and its still difficult to shut him up.

We're ready for the big one it seems. This is what BTC was built for, stand solid in what you believe, Bitcoin is watching, be proud.

Out of curiosity: where in the world is Waldo (Trace Mayer)?
Pomp is around , planB as well, even Tone Vays, but Trace is missing in action (at least on twitter).
Interesting...maybe sold too many puts on his bitcoin? He was always professing that trade (through LedgerX), which I find inane.
I wonder how many blockfi loans got liquidated as well...
Trace Mayer lost a lot of credibility after shilling Mimblewimble coin in this interview and got flamed by the BTC maxi's
I think he's to ashamed to show his face now. His bags must be heavy.

I'm gonna stick this one out in S.Vietnam. I refuse to panic travel and it looks like the rest of the world have lost their sensibilities anyway. Here, tourists are not panicked, won't even get on board with face masks and they still squeeze in at the food court every day. Godammit we've got a holliday to enjoy! The small city nearby reported a single case a few days ago. I went through the area yesterday to have a look and do some shopping and they've bleached about a 4 block radius of the streets. Smells like laundry and a chlorine pool. Some smaller and non-essential shops have closed, markets still working and many locals are pleased with the excuse of another holiday noted by karaoke gaining popularity  Roll Eyes

I really do not understand the TP wars, actually, I don't understand how its still used as the preferred method. 19 years since I learned how to wash myself and it was a defining revelation at the time. An empty waterbottle is key when traveling.
If you must, here's a quick video that will  help get you through a TP shortage crisis.  Cheesy Cheesy  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dngwSuiu3D8&feature=youtu.be

Corn might give us another buying opportunity, stay vigilant, don't feed the panic!

Yeah, i might sound too bearish because of the $3k - $3.5k range, but i will buy at higher prices too without much loss (or much less gain, if you want to see it that way).
I'm easy with holding out and waiting, in times of uncertainty i refuse to make moves, because this has brought negative results in the past, mostly.

I (shamed to admit it) capitulated at £3660 on Thursday night and liquidated 0.4 BTC for £1500. Sadly, I needed to make sure I had the money to pay a bill. I use BTC as my overall savings account with very little in my actual bank account other than general operating costs and some on exchanges to play with. It means I lost about 0.03 BTC / £150 in real terms. I had been buying bits and pieces during the crash  - then panicked and sold at a loss.

I am the master of capitulation. I did it at $280 and I’m sure I’ll do it again. This is a sign we can go up now!

Thanks for sharing, no shame really. I'm also similarly positioned using bitcoin as my 100% savings. The only difference is that I don't need the capital I've allocated for any reason in the short term (except in emergency). I have a somewhat reliable income stream I can reasonably live from.
If you'll entertain, its a great lesson really.  Is your investments in Bitcoin to help bitcoin evolve or for some other reason?
Other reasons get complicated very easily as I'm sure you are aware and as Bitcoin stands it's ground, it will claim the advantage over unaltruistic investments.

But if I take my fiat and convert it to cash, I can use it as toilet paper. You can't do that with BTC.
I don't know what you think when you use the "convert" word here  Roll Eyes If you convert fiat into cash, I can also exchange BTC for cash, what is the difference? Can BTC still be used as toilet paper in a different way? Just kidding  Wink
I think that's called intrinsic value  Cheesy
No way, can't think of a better way to call it  Cheesy So what is the intrinsic value of Bitcoin? Can I call the terrible volatility the intrinsic value to bitcoin?
A historic ~49% range in a single 40-minute candle.
Not at all, Bitcoin is a mere 100 billion market cap today on it's journey to replace a irresponsible monetary policy.
Volatility is expected. There won't be as much volatility when BTC has a much larger market cap like gold. You're just early if you thought it should be stable.

The virus is a worry. I originally overreacted and purchased 200 n100 masks, 4 pairs of swimming goggles and 10 entire boxes of 12 x250ml hand sanitizer, this expensive water filter big berky, 400 dollars worth of cans, pasta, cereals and rice. I have some weaponry and even a thermal scope that i traded for a weird modern art kind of picture a while back. Only used it one time with my friend to search for his dog that escaped at night.
If things get really bad I will do my best to survive the virus or civil unrest. I hope things will not get crazy and that in a few months we get back on track.
The only thing of any possible future value that you can protect easily is your private key. In my area I expect nobody would really even consider the residents would have such a thing. The other thing is, if I didn't make it out of this, then that's another 1.1 btc deflation.
I do agree that when something like this happens, it does put investing and striving after an improved living standard into perspective. Although now I have a whole btc I am sitting here almost smug and happy. I don't even want to hear about covid19.
I finally become a member of the new wealthy elite in digital money  Wink and we immediately get drive back to the barter system.

Great to know we've got Joe's like you out there ready to fight for it! Welcome to the WO's, your battle hardened hedge is safe in BTC. One of us!
