4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox announce finding of 200,000 lost BTC! on: March 22, 2014, 02:25:44 PM
Is that cause for the recent price dip, or is it the Blockchain.info issues?

I'm still unclear what caused the decline the last couple of days.
1.as if u can always identify causes of price movement....
2.They Did not Sell the "found" BTC nor did they pay off gox customers yet.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox user details for sale on: March 11, 2014, 12:34:34 AM
I came late to the MtGox party and fortunately did not lose a lot and my heartfelt feeling go out to those that did, This news is not good, so now my passport, my bank details and my home address is now in the hands of hackers and they are trying to sell that info. I'm fucking furious. Karpeles needs to pay for this big time. post the hackers email address, this need to go to Interpol.

It is not Karpeles fault that a criminal is trying to sell your data.  The perpetrators of crime are the criminals, and in this case MtGox & its customers are the victims.  In fact, if someone hadn't been defrauding them via the malleability exploit, we wouldn't be in this situation.

So, how about we start actually blaming this fiasco on the perpetrators rather than the victims.
It is illegal in most countries to keep such data. I bet Japan is no different. Hence it is very likely this is just one more criminal count for MtGox and the F.F. Karpeles.
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Statement *NEW MAR 3RD* on: March 03, 2014, 03:03:43 PM
In order to increase repayments to our creditors, it is necessary to explore the possibility of having MtGox Co., Ltd. continue its business. This is why the civil rehabilitation procedure has been chosen, Rebuilding MtGox Co., Ltd under the supervision of the court in a legally organized procedure while giving proper explanations will not be for the sole benefit of the company but for that of the whole bitcoin community.
All efforts will now be made to restore the business and recover damages to repay debts to creditors. We hope for the understanding and cooperation of all.

I wanna be a shareholder and change the firm name to fritoX
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGOX Statement *NEW MAR 3RD* on: March 03, 2014, 03:00:49 PM
I'm fascinated how nobody reports back on this forum (or I'm idiotic enough to not have found the relevant thread around here yet) on telephone inquiries.
I mean, ffs, they did list a couple of telephone numbers on their "press release", one of them was for English speaking customers, some thousand people must have already called over there - did they say anything at all ?!
I would probably pop only the relevant Qs at hand:
- "Will MtGox reimburse anything ?"
- "Will I get back a fraction of the fiat/BTC I had on my account at the time you wiped the site off the internet ?"
- "Was Karpeles buying some ~6k coins on Stamp earlier today so he could free his family from wrongdoers ?"
- "Are you (the telephone operator) gay ?"
- "Does God exist?"
... and some others I can swiftly think of ...  Undecided

Here a link to a Gox call center conversation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HJt-MpoTP4
sounds like karpeleses nurse moonlighting
8  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Resurrection of Mt.Gox on: March 01, 2014, 04:43:40 PM
The simple and clear plan how to resurrect Mt Gox.
...
According to the ancient proverb: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

I personally believe in a strong and bright future for gox.com.
talk to Karpeles or/and his lawyers about the proposal(customers->shareholders)
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Something Tells Me Mark Karpeles Could Care Less on: February 28, 2014, 02:04:10 PM
The way he walks like a robot, has no emotion, bumps into the guy, tries to move around him, all the while not moving his umbrella, making no facial expression, holding his starbucks ....

I was thinking the same, and agree his body language and actions flount that he doesn't care he has badly affected many people.

However, he has also ruined his own life. He is a laughing stock. No company he holds and executive position will ever be taken seriously, anything he starts himself is going to be unviable. He may be able to get a programming job somewhere, but he will be the laughing stock of that place. He will go down as the next Bernie Madoff, but humiliatingly, as completely incompetent.

However, could it not be possible that he will also end up in prison? He's been lying about Gox's financials for some time.
he is loaded, he does not have to work for s%it ever.
He coudl pay gox customers from his coffers and still buy a small island.
and thats exactly what he should do.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox have at least 200k BTC - lost keys or GAG ORDER most likely not theft on: February 28, 2014, 09:46:54 AM
yeah unless they sold/moved(or lost:) the private keys to another owner, Gox should have these coins and not just 2000....
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people fear regulation so much? on: February 27, 2014, 11:48:14 AM
whos talking about regulating bitcoin.

Just the end points like exchanges, where it is necessary to entrust both fiat and BTC to a third party in order to be able to trade in real time.

Another interesting regulatory application would be tracing stolen coins to the point of exit: BTC to fiat or a product/service with the help of non Gov body such as Bitcoin Foundation+law enforcers in respective end points(where the BTC got changed to fiat/product/service). And ability to return stolen coins to the owner.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road 2.0 hacked through malleability, ~4000 BTC STOLEN on: February 27, 2014, 11:36:10 AM
This hack was possible because of a
...

I think it got stolen coz they/him/she got hold of the private key/s to the wallet/s
coz the server(nutin to do with BTC net) security hole. Or it was simply the Admin 2.0.

Hope u did not lose too much coke money.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp BLOCKs withdrawals to verified users on: February 27, 2014, 08:43:38 AM
Cant withdraw bitcoins and I dont know why and they are not responding to tickets? What to do?

 Huh
I got my withdrawal activated(see the edit note of the first post in the thread).
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp BLOCKs withdrawals to verified users on: February 26, 2014, 03:28:03 PM
No no, I agree banks can freeze accounts.
But we are talking about a really grey company - Bitstamp.
* They are registered in UK but their bank is in Slovenia.
* They are NOT A BANK.
* No AML or KYC rules for businesses require what they ask for.

No let me explain this, I'm running a EU business and I know what I'm talking about. NO NON BANKING COMPANY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD IS ALLOWED TO TAKE DEPOSITS. Even god damn Seychelles do not allow this (had an offshore). So either this is going through their books as sale/return of a product (that's what my local law is saying, but they will take VAT because of this) or something else.

Nowhere can you find any data on their registration. Nothing else. They are AS shady as BTC-E.
Now I have no problem with btc-e - there must be a free market like silkroad - and they must remain silent.
I have a problem with people claiming Bitstamp is better than Gox or Btc-e, because they are the same.

I really hope this problem will resolve and I receive my funds. I will update this topic but for now 5 hours passed without any answer from Bitstamp which is concerning.
brokerage firms can take your money in the EU.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp BLOCKs withdrawals to verified users on: February 26, 2014, 03:26:09 PM
I'm baffled by this as Bitstamp aren't widely known to pull these kind of bullshit manoeuvres

Um, what rock have you been living under?

Bitstamp is #1 for using AML-KYC to screw people out of their money.

The only difference at gox is that they don't bother with the excuses.
heh
hope not

it takes them usually 24h or more to respond, sometimes up to 2-3 days

I'm baffled by this as Bitstamp aren't widely known to pull these kind of bullshit manoeuvres but there have been complaints about this sort of thing with people who are from places like Slovakia, what country are you from?

Bitstamp is on balkan former Yugoslavia.
18  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp BLOCKs withdrawals to verified users on: February 26, 2014, 12:59:18 PM
Have you logged into the account with a different username to what you normally would log into the site? They block your account and contact you if this has happend for example using tor.

you can use only one id, I guess u mean wrong login attempts

I dont think one wrong password typin would be a good reason.

Any idea why the price dropped to around .07?

It didn't. Havelock has technical issues... I assume this database is an old backup.

They probably had coins with MtGox, so now they are "protecting" the customers.
20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Message 26thFeb from mtGox on their web by KARPELES on: February 26, 2014, 12:55:05 PM
here we go Japanese central bank about to step in get ready for a Bitcoin price explosion
or implosion?

Market is going to fight the price higher to stop the Central Bank of Japan buying back Marks lost coins cheap, assuming he has lost some of them and isn't hiding them.

Seriously doubt BOJ will be buying BTC...
