http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/04/microsoft-major-banks-strike-blockchain-deal.html

Azure is looking more important, R3 consortium of banks will only look at Azure-afflitated coins.

Which is stupid considering the amount of shitcoins on Azure... Tongue

It appears Microsoft is attempting to dominate the crypto markets as they did the OS one.

Although i think Azure can prove to be beneficial for NEM, if anything this makes me more cautious -- Especially given history. Until an agreement can be struck that isn't so ambiguous/vague, i'd be really careful.

The bigger the company, the less i trust them (Imagine what i think of Google Tongue). It's just another example of excessive centralization and all it takes is a few new bosses and policies and everything goes tits up.

Hopefully NEM can become more established and known before Microsoft gobbles up too much of the market.

Why not see what Red Hat has to offer?

Spring Staking Promotion

It is spring time, better weather, better prices so many good news.  Smiley However as always there is some cons. Percentage of coins being staked on regular basis dropped from above 20% to about 16%. It seems number of people decided to move their money onto exchanges and stopped staking. I would like to encourage the opposite trend.

The idea is to pay additional bonuses to people who stake. This is my current proposal:

Every 10th block being minted earns additional 100 NOBLE
Every 100th block being minted earns additional 1000 NOBLE
Every 1000th block being minted earns additional 10000 NOBLE
Every 10000th block being minted earns additional 100000 NOBLE

The reward is going to be paid with delay of up to several hours due to security precautions. So be patient and it will finally reach its destination Wink

I am going to devote 1 million coins from my own purse for this program. The coins were earned by working on bounties. This should provide enough funds to keep it going for whole April and maybe bit longer.

I am running some tests to see how this works so handful of people have already earned rewards Wink

Tentative date to start this program is 7th April

Please let me know what you think about this idea. Any comments, concerns, or maybe someone is willing to donate more funds to this? With more funds we could keep it running longer or maybe consider paying 1 million NOBLE for block number 400 000 which should be minted in about a month from now.

I love it, the market is competitive, NOBL needs an edge

Very innovative idea, would the walking reward be constant forever, or change over time (e.g you get a bit less as you get fitter and walk further)

Why are people comparing Lisk with Waves all the time?

Just the timing & opportunity cost I guess, 'do I buy a car or go on a holiday' - same money, different products

So who got 250 million qoras for implementing AT ?

All crowdfunding QORA (and BURST) raised for AT was for @vbcs to do as he pleased (my interest in this field is not about making money but about trying to aid in the transformation from centralised to decentralised software which is why I am dead-against centralised cloud computing).

Note that all the coding done in Java has been by @vbcs (as I am a C++ coder).

That's really admirable CIYAM, respect!!

I think the Azure idea is a bad one

Is Red Hat a better option for Qora?

Any news, how much % has been completed of this project.

Give me an estimation please 50% , 70%?

I'd say 100% of the easy stuff, and much less of the cutting edge torrent features .... very speculative coin

So it's a scam or a lazy developer?

I would say - its a busy developer.
Too busy, and not very communicative.

Doesn't look like scam - no typical scam pattern here.

I agree probably not a scam (no ico, no pumps & dumps), more likely the dev doesn't have the skills and/or time to complete the difficult task. Risk for investors is abandonware.

@dev, why don't you communicate and get some assistance from community. What do you need to finish vTorrent?

I know that SuperNet is actually independent from any particular blockchain. I was reading a lot about Qora today and I think it could be a good successor for Nxt to focus SuperNET development on Qora blockchain.

Yes, Qora tech & community would be a great match for SN to work with, and accumulating 5-10% of Qora would be relatively cheap too

jl777 has finally decided to get a divorce from NXT. This might be a great opportunity for Qora. Can the dev team reach out to jl777 and work with him on his asset passport idea?
...

This guy is the king of vaporware and bullshit assets associated with such. I hope he stays far away from Qora.

Not true! I've been using jl777's MGW (multigateway) to store a proportion of my bitcoins in secure mutlisig accounts for over a year now. I've also started using the SuperNET lite wallet to access them which takes just a few seconds without any need to download and sync the NXT blockchain. I run it off of a usb, extremely secure and very convenient!! That's not vaporware, and jl777 has literally tens of thousands of lines of completed back-end code now for most of his other projects including InstantDEX and Iguana and Pangea. If you doubt this go and check his github.

What he lacks is GUI devs and people testing, but that's not really his fault, is it. IMO his portable asset protocol between blockchains is a really good idea, and I hope Qora devs consider following the project and participating if possible.

For those not following NXT, I have been divorced from NXT.

...

A passport system for assets that allows the asset holder to decide the blockchain they want to reside in. While the PoS mechanism is fully protecting the NXT holders as designed, it allows the creation of a hardfork that ignores other parts of the ecosystem, like assets.

James, have you considered starting a 'relationship' with Qora after your divorce from NXT?

I think you would find the Qora dev team very easy to work with on something like your asset passports protocol.

For those not following NXT, I have been divorced from NXT.

https://nxtforum.org/core-development-discussion/nxt-2-0-design/msg210601/#msg210601

The above is my last post in the NXT forum, unless the fNXT plan is revoked. fNXT is not NXT and NXT lifetime is limited, so we will need to migrate the NXT assets to a different blockchain.

Now before you panic, I like to make lemonade out of lemons, so like BC2 led to iguana, fNXT has led to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1372879

A passport system for assets that allows the asset holder to decide the blockchain they want to reside in. While the PoS mechanism is fully protecting the NXT holders as designed, it allows the creation of a hardfork that ignores other parts of the ecosystem, like assets.

This is a problem for any derivative. The core PoS or PoW or PoAnything will only protect the interests of the stakeholders, miners or whatever, that the block consensus algorithm uses. As such the hardfork attack vector is a very real and actual in the case of fNXT hardfork.

So while the PoS ensures that the NXT holders (including SuperNET) will vote for the fNXT hardfork out of their fiduciary duty to maximize revenues, there are no protections for asset holders or issuers. In some sense the PoS worked too well, instead of not well enough and it needs to be weakened.

Does this mean decentralized assets are dead?
Not at all!

This attack vector directly led me to create a solution, namely blockchain independent assets that is blockchain enforced. It does require all participating blockchains to implement an asset passport protocol, but the ones that do will allow for free travel among them.

blockchains with iron curtains that dont allow anybody to come in, still wont be able to prevent assets from leaving as long as there is a burn mechanism. So far all blockchains I have seen have either a direct burn method, or one can be devised.

That means that any blockchain that doesnt support asset immigration, is subject to a oneway outflow to ones that do. This is basically the SuperNET concept applied to assets and iguana tech will build into BTCD the ability to trade against BTC using BTCD's one minute block times but to be able to coldstore idle assets in the BTC blockchain. Even if they are in cold storage, it just means that they cannot be traded and all the dividends they earn will still go to your account.

How does this protect assets from the hardfork attack?
Simple. If an upcoming hardfork threatens your interests, just move to a different blockchain.

Even if a blockchain just increases taxes (txfees) and you want a lower cost blockchain, you can move.

If a blockchain just is slow to create useful tech, you can move to one that does.

By distributing an asset across multiple decentralized (or even distributed) blockchains appears to be the best protection available to derived crypto. The alternative is a new blockchain for each asset using itself as its PoS with blocks generated only when there is a transaction. Private chains are coming, but this seems excessive use of the blockchain "hammer" from the toolkit. And it creates a massive N*N problem of cross chain transactions for all such assetchains.

With asset passports, you just reside your assets where you are most actively using the local blockchain and since trading against the native currency of the blockchain is most efficient (it better be!) you will be able to take advantage of this affinity. But if ever some storm clouds appear, you can simply move to a safer blockchain.

BTC is here to stay. Certainly as the reference currency, but even the tech development pace is starting to accelerate, so this is encouraging for all of crypto. iguana is achieving less than an hour BTC blockchain sync for full 60 GB blockchain, so the problem I used to think was so big a problem is not so big anymore. bitcoin 0.12 supports pruning, so HDD space is also going to be an issue not so important. Most importantly, I will be able to run a bitcoind node on my laptop!

So why not everything BTC? Well if you ever are waiting for a trade to go through, you know that waiting even a minute is a long time. Try waiting 10 minutes. Just not a good experience. So I will make a hybrid system combining the speed of BTCD 1 minute blocks with BTC for long term storage. Trading against BTC should really be a requirement, but not sure if all passport enable blockchains will be able to do this, so it would probably need to be a strong recommendation.

iguana unites all the bitcoin compatibles using technology. It is inching toward completion and we even have a freelancer based GUI dev team now, using fully open source development.

docs.supernet.org shows the API and in spite of the external events that keep happening to cause delays, we still march on. This is a marathon and we will complete it.

James

P.S. Before any NXT holder panics, do not worry, NXT peoples are doing everything they can, literally, to make sure NXT goes up, so it seems pretty likely that NXT price will do just fine. I just have some ideological and technical disagreements and since I have no actual power within NXT, I was forced to move.

its great to see that devs still develop this coin although the price is so low. i still see a big potential in this coin.....

+1

Qora is unique in cyptoland, and I still believe the future is bright. Most alts are struggling, so Qora is in good company!

Thanks to the dev team for all they do Smiley

Most alts are struggling = not so true - since mid of December Altcoin prices went up by 25%: http://coinoindex.com/

I have Qora as well and in general I also think the price can increase. But the current Altcoin Bullmarket was completely missed by Qora.

Sure, I won't disagree that Qora hasn't been picked up by the day-trader community yet, but it has achieved a lot of respect from the more tech minded crypto types. Also, I don't think the recent moves in alt coins is best described as a 'bull market', more of an upwards blip in an otherwise stagnant and declining market that's been around since early 2014.

Truth is decentralised crypto (i.e. not current unterest in 'blockchain' by banks, wall st etc, but the original satoshi vision) has achieved very marginal interest at best. Within that context Qora has gained tech respect, but little interest from regular crypto speculators. BUT, when we do have a true bull market in alts (x10 from current levels in price & volume), and real world adoption, and use-cases being developed by smart people then my prediction is Qora will stick out like beacon in a sea of 'sameness' for most alt coins.

PoS with a ton of features, unique code, committed dev team etc etc

but right now those aspects don't excite day traders, and that's 95% of alt coin users today. Obviously every coin wants day traders for liquidity & great tech potential, but if you had to pick one over the other I'd rather have long-term potential as a usable real world platform, and Qora has that in spades. The speculators come and go, but the Qora devs are still here working ... THANKS guys!
