701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will China Accept Bitcoin As A Currency? on: August 09, 2019, 10:07:57 PM
If there was a war between China and USA and China tries to destroy the dollar and vice versa than BTC would only grow stronger as it will act as a security for both currencies.

All China has to do is dump those US bonds but that hurts them too, so they better get rid of them slowly, at higher not lower price. Knowing them they'll patiently just wait for Trump to leave office rather than lose their grip on the US Economy.

Yep, China knows how to play the long game. The USA seems to consistently elect leaders that can't think beyond a single election cycle.

And this is why most people ignore you when you mention bitcoin, fly by night outfits like this do not serve bitcoin evangelism very well...

705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gov'ts and Institutions buying up Bitcoin on: August 09, 2019, 09:04:36 PM
There is some evidence for North Korea, Russia, and other sanctioned states heavily acquiring bitcoin, where 'acquiring' isn't just purchasing. I would not be surprised but of course I don't know. If the US Fed was smart they'd be holding heavily, but doubt they are.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Right Now: Will Do A Bull Run Too? on: August 09, 2019, 08:50:36 PM

Eth is possessing a great promise and potential among all the possible contenders to the throne of Bitcoin. With a good dev team behind and with the leadership of a young Russian-Canadian programmer named Vitalik Buterin, it was also a recipient of the 2017 cryptocurrency bull run. I remember that Eth reached more than $1,000 back then before dropping dramatically.

Now that Bitcoin is excitedly showing its bull run, many Eth holders like me are wishing that it can do its dance upwards as well. Yes, it is showing some good movements but not with the same intensity as Bitcoin.

Will Eth get benefited by the current strong showing of Bitcoin or will do its own slow like snail move?

I'm sure if ETH will experience the Bullrun process ... but not in the near future ... because we can pay attention together from the current ETH graph which is still very slow showing its progress ... and we must be more patient waiting for the increase from ETH ...

Ha! Eth is currently $209.09, one whole penny higher than back in May! Profit!
707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gold? Which one you would choose to invest for long term? Why ? on: August 09, 2019, 08:29:46 PM
The moment someone mines an asteroid, gold's scarcity will be a thing of the past. And on the time scales you need to become wealthy from just investing in gold then that's not a far fetched concern. Bitcoin on the other hand is a fixed supply in perpetuity. I'd go with bitcoin but as many others have said it's always good to diversify with uncorrelated assets, a little cash, a little gold, a little crypto, some stocks (I'd avoid bonds at this point), real estate, fine art, wherever you can park your wealth.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what if -->tether was actually 40 billion dollars in debt on: August 09, 2019, 07:53:25 PM
Don't really understand why anyone uses that coin, it combines the worst traits of fiat and crypto together with almost none of the benefits of either.
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Happened with ETH ? on: August 09, 2019, 07:08:13 PM
I remember those days when I'd dream happily of Eth becoming uncorrelated from Btc. LOL, joke's on me I guess.
710  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bernie Sanders goes viral on the Joe Rogan Experience on: August 09, 2019, 06:45:48 PM
3. The US taxpayers bailed out Wall Street. A tiny tax on certain transactions is only fair, and it would limit high frequency stock trading which if we're honest is just a high tech form of stealing. This wouldn't really affect regular people who buy a stock because they believe in a company and hold it for five, ten or more years.

This would be very good but I also think probably unlikely to come about. High frequency trading is the backbone of the industry, they would find a way to get waivers in for industry so they'd never pay those fees. I think Sanders would be able to have some positive impact in this direction but not nearly the amount needed for real reform.

Pretty cool... "Bitcoin has only spent 63 days in its history where it closed above current price. This was the factoid posted by crypto-analyst Ceteris Paribus on Aug. 6, along with comparative data for selected altcoins." ...

712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I invest to Bitcoin or Ethereum? on: August 09, 2019, 05:48:38 PM
ETH is a good coin, but why would you choose a clone instead of a genuine one? these alts were created in purpose for substituting Bitcoin once the network gets crowded.
but lately, people just misinterpreted it as an Investment solution. Stop thinking ETH will surpass Bitcoin or any alts out there because it is not going to happen and will never.

Eth is not a clone of bitcoin, it has a different use case. I don't think Eth will surpass Btc either, but it doesn't need to as it's not in competition.
713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sold too damn early!! Kicking myself... on: August 09, 2019, 04:23:09 PM
This is why traders almost always do poorly in comparison with hodlers. Even the pros who should know better still get caught in these emotional traps from time to time. If it was easy everyone would be rich.
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ħ [HODL] No Staking, 1% Standard Interest per Day, 750% APR For HOdler on: August 09, 2019, 04:16:18 PM
Looks like we had a successful fork on block 683,000.

Current monetary policy is -

Interest is paid at 1% a day or about 375% APR. No staking is required but interest is only paid on coins that have moved in the last 30 days.

HODL'd coins attract more interest the longer they are HODL'd for - upto double interest for coins that are HODL'd for 1 year. So 750% interest possible.

COINS ON EXCHANGES ATTRACT NO INTEREST!

The block reward is now 500. Halving is coming up soon! I think it's around block 820,000. So enjoy the big mining reward while it lasts!

is there a pool miner ?

715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Walmart and Crypto? on: August 09, 2019, 04:06:37 PM
And I am not sure the spread of centralized coins is beneficial for the crypto market.

It's not. I think you are right to be wary.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: August 08, 2019, 08:00:58 PM
Hard to predict, the upgrade event you'd think would be priced in already but it's not a certain thing, and even if achieved it's not certain how people will take to it. So I think it is quite possible to have a pretty big price effect either way when it is upgraded rather than for example LTC which has little price effect at the recent halvening because everyone had already priced it in their expectations.

718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Walmart and Crypto? on: August 08, 2019, 07:03:38 PM
Too little too late would be my gut reaction without really looking into it. The balkanization of the space by filling it with centralized shitcoins muddies the waters and just slightly delays the inevitable bitcoin adoption.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: August 08, 2019, 02:24:31 PM
Litecoin is sitting calm and not following the path of BTC it seems a storm will come very soon and many people will miss the chance to catch the train. I am very confident soon price will be sky rocket and the moon is on the way.

Why?
Because of the litecoin halving event, in the past, when the same event occurred with bitcoin, the value of bitcoin has changed markedly and now we see a price as it is now, Litecoin as an in-house brother of bitcoin, people always put a lot of hope that it will develop as bitcoin, and with this event, this will be an opportunity for litecoin to prove that it deserves to stand with bitcoin. However, life in crypto is never sure, we should believe half, and half doubt, putting too much faith will be very dangerous.

I think the price of LTC has already factored in the halvening. People have known about it in advance forever. I'd love to see it moon as I have a decent position but I don't see any fundamental reason for it to do so near term. Everything still seems to depend on bitcoin behavior.
720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Symbol For The Satoshi on: August 08, 2019, 02:04:49 PM
I would like to mention that 1 Satoshi is now worth more than 7 national world's currencies.
The rate at which bitcoin is growing, I am sure that in the next 10 years, the number of currencies that 1 satoshi would have over taken will be much, the moment bitcoin supply goes near zero, the price of bitcoin would be so high that many people would turn to satoshi then , and I am also sure that by that time, 1 satoshi may be equals to 1 united states  dollar, and this may really bring about the end for the American dollar.

By the time bit coin stabilizes on I usd dollars to 1 satoshi for life, many country’s would prefer to hold it than holding the United states dollar, and also rely on using it for more of their operations oversees than changing their money to the united states dollar. Anyway, I am eagerly waiting for that period also that I can boast of having so many satoshis.

So you are saying 1 BTC will be equivalent to 100 million USD? I think even John McAfee might consider that a bit too optimistic. I guess if the dollar completely collapses and the inflation rate goes through the roof maybe.
