Just to let people know, I just went on BitCrate and it's been replenished with coins today. Saying this, I won nothing from the crate I broke a minute ago, in fact three times I have tried and never won anything from BitCrate but I'm sure others have or it wouldn't be included in the list on this thread. I thought as much, but just wanted to check. I don't have a desktop, so looks like I will need to save up so I can build a basic rig with proper cooling and GPU. Smiley

309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are some people so Anti Bitcoins?? on: May 13, 2013, 01:38:55 PM
Bitcoin is not a scam, it is a complex system and lack of understanding does not make something a scam.

There a scammers within the BTC trading market, so be careful, however this does not make Bitcoin or cryptocurrency less legitimate, every currency has scammers and legitimate traders. Smiley

Is pool mining LTC on a laptop CPU a bad idea? I know the hashrate will be incredibly low, but will it do damage to the CPU / laptop? Is it just a cooling issue or are there other factors which make this a bad idea? Many thanks Smiley

Adderall??

I'm so confused.

Adderall is a psychostimulant medication that contains amphetamine, used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

Adderall is a combination of four amphetamine salts (racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, racemic amphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharide, and dextroamphetamine sulfate). It is a dopamine releasing agent, a norepinephrine releasing agent, and can be mildly serotonergic.

What was the XRP giveaway?

This:
Anyone whose Bitcoin Forum account was created before February 19, 2013, 18:45 UTC, is eligible to receive XRP.

Follow the instructions in that post.

Unfortunately I joined the forum after Feb 19 2013, that's a shame, would have liked some XRP to get me started, oh well. Smiley

You can sell your XRP for 90% silver US dimes/quarters/half-dollars IOU's from this guy.  Also if you trust the Bitstamp gateway you can trade those against BTC or USD.  I have received 25 physical dimes and 2 half-dollars from TTBit, and just redeemed another few dozen that I expect to receive in a day or so.

I say this just because it's the most that I've really done with Ripple and I thought it was cool.  I have not seen a competitive market for trading USD and BTC, but it's another option.  If you got a bunch of XRP from the giveaway you can cash out into USD, BTC, and probably LTC, if you trust people/exchanges whose IOU's are being traded.

What was the XRP giveaway?

If you want to nerd out, read the wiki: https://ripple.com/wiki

Maybe you can establish some trust lines with friends and family? It's not very useful, but pretty interesting to figure out.

If not, use the Ripple client to trade with other currencies. There are, as far as I know, no merchant that will directly accept Ripple IOUs for products or services. I'd make this myself, but the rumor is that OpenCoin have been working on one.

Thanks for the advice. Lots of research to do. Smiley

you can sell to me

I have zero XRP, just opened my first Ripple account. Smiley
320  Other / Beginners & Help / OK so I have Ripple (XRP).... on: May 12, 2013, 10:10:02 PM
I'm sure lots of people have said this, but after joining Ripple I am left wondering "what now"?

I'm already doing small BTC transactions, I am learning slowly as I hobby mine LTC and am unsure what would be the best way to get started with Ripple (XRP)? Smiley
