How many watts of power are save if you set the CoreVoltage of a rx470 to -36 ?

I use MSI afterburner , the maximum I can set my cards to is -36mv , also is there a way to enable the cards to go lower ?

I have bios modded my cards , but just the memory straps.

Hey , just spotted your core voltage is like - 96 , the lowest my cards will goto is -36 , how do you make it goto -96 !?!? is it another polaris editor tweak ?

Main issue I have , is that all my miners are at my office that I rent , free electric as it is included as part of my rent......excellent during the day 8am to 7pm full Air con , but after 7pm to 7.59am  no aircon , it gets very very hot in here with all my rigs running, so I tend to not over push my cards as they will work great during the day , but once the heat starts to build after the air con is switched off , the cards can crash , so anything around 26-27 mhz is great by me

Hi , I have modded my rx470 Samsung using uber mix , very very pleased with the results , works great.

I presume I cannot use the Ubermix 3.1 Samsung memory settings on my Hynix rx470.....I know I can simply just cut and paste from 1500 upwards , but I am told that is not the best way .

So does anyone have a link to the Hynix memory performance settings so I can cut and paste it into my bios using Polaris editor.

But I also have a Hynix rx470 , I presume I cannot use the uber mix settings for Samsung memory on a Hynix RX470 ?!?!?

Hi Thank you for your reply , I am a bit worried as I can still send the cards back if I like as I bought them on eBay , I would not want to mess the cards up etc , I have flashed and modded my own cards in the past without a issue.

would you say the drivers from Techpowerup are generally the official signed bios image ?

Are the serial numbers of the card part of the bios ? as I guess that would not match up with the download from techpower, would that cause a Issue with the signature ?

Subject to trying , I presume I would simply do the following....

download the techpower bios.

Make a copy of the card bios that is currently on the card as a back up.

flash the bios with polaris .

Uninstall the drivers using driver uninstaller , reboot , reinstall latest drivers

But do I need to do anything for the bios to be considered as Signed , any extra steps ?

Hi , Basically , I bought 2 cards from a guy , he never mentioned the bios had already been modded , which is kind of okay but not okay....

Ideally I would of liked to of had a copy of the original bios which the seller no longer has.

My big question is , I have found the original bios online with the correct memory 4GB Hynix , correct brand and model etc...

So if I flashed the bios from the link above , would the card then be suitable for using with all the latest AMD drivers without the need to patch the driver each time ?

Main reason I ask , is that I like the option of reselling the card at a later date perhaps on eBay , but I do not want to have to explain about using a patcher program etc to the future buyer , sounds bad to a novice and would bring the price down.

Ah , sorry , I am not that much in the loop with all the latest expressions !!!

But I kind of thought someone might of posted past success / shared etc...as I assume pretty much all RX470 Msi gaming X samsung an hynix would be the same custom work would apply equally to all the MSI rx470 4gb with samsung etc.

but no worries.

Is there a list of peoples past working custom straps.

I have 2 x MSI Gaming X rx470 4G cards , one with samsung and one with Hynix , I have done the standard 1500 strap to the higher straps....both cards have improved.

the Hynix went from 20 to 27.5
the samsung went from 20 to 25

But I am told the samsung and hynix could go higher with Custom ram timings.

But I could do with someones pre-made custom straps for the same cards or memory if possible please....

Anyone help ?

Aaah Ty, I was assuming the bios mod was just setting the mhz but it's actually also changing its performance timing, I guess similar to pc memory, going from say CL12 to CL9.

I'm not a bios modder, but in the short term have you considered flashing it back to the original and testing settings with trixx or afterburner, using the settings I use.

Thank you for your reply, it is more the timings for memory that I will try to begin with but first test the other settings using Afterburner.

Hopefully mod my first bios next week on one of my asus strix rx480 cards.

I have not yet managed to my bios yet, but I do have the same card has you, just using afterburner at the moment.

Settings, +0 (zero) target power
1133 core
2250 memory

I get 27.5 mhs

I think the core is too high and the target power.

Okay daft question, is modding a bios any better than say using afterburner or trixx?

Would it be best to find the best settings using say trixx before modding the bios?
