Perfect Ty for all the brilliant advice

Perfect Ty, out of interest, would the memory speed change affect gaming in anyway? Or add extra heat / power draw.
Yes, the bandwith will be higher that means more FPS. Power and heat are about the same if you do not undervolt. Hi Matt, just one more question came to mine, I also have a 4gb rx480, can the memory on that be pretty much tweaked to 8gb speeds or will a 4gb rx480 card always offer less MH/s mining power than a 8gb card? Even if both cards where identical other than the amount of GBs

Perfect thank you, you have given me peace of mind.
So to mod my asus rx480 strix bios, follow the link in your signature for further info.
Are all the exact settings for altering the figures on your signature link that are specific to rx480 Asus strix, I wouldnt want to enter the incorrect values.
Could I just change the memory settings in the bios, as I presume that is what is given the card the biggest boost? and leave other settings, as I might change them via afterburner.
Sure you can edit only timings Yes, timings give the biggest performance improvement. Perfect Ty, out of interest, would the memory speed change affect gaming in anyway? Or add extra heat / power draw.

Perfect thank you.
Is it worth using a moded 480 to 580 Asus strix rx480 bios, then apply your bios edits or would that defeat the object of using your bios? I'm a newbie, so not too keen on over experimenting.
If things go completely wrong, if I keep a copy of the original bios, do you have a link for how to fix please.
Here is a link to the bios from 480 to 580 http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx/3870#post_26191964

I have 2 x Asus strix rx480 I'm going to try and mod, but which Is the best revision of amd driver for modding and for mining?
|
|
|
|
Yeah, no. No need for that patch. The point was to find correct driver that allows bios edit. After bios flash reinstall driver and voila, everything works, 29.3mhs @ stock clocks with uber-mix timings.
Oh, ok, what drivers you had and installed after? I've got 2 Asus strix rx480 with the pretty terrible 24mh/s speeds, I've read through the 4 pages, but kind of can't follow exactly what to do, any chance of a step by step guide please? I also spotted this rx480 to rx 580 bios for the Asus strix, I am kind of thinking it might improve mining but it's not going to be optimised for mining http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx/3870#post_26191964Just spotted your really great guide! And YouTube videos! Just kind of need to know, which is the best driver software version of the rx480 from amd for best use with modding and modded Asus strix rx 480 bios and mining?
